Chapter 253

"I would have, had his Alpha armies not arrived on the battlefront, idiot!" Yonder hollered right back at Caspian.

"Alpha armies? Are you dumb? I was in control of his alpha armies to hold the fort, should in case you all come and attack the palace."

Yonder’s eyes went wide in shock at the news he just heard but as quickly as it came, it dimmed his eyes at him. "You are lying right?"

"Lying? What good would that be? Do you know how disappointed I was? I waited to get news of them being wiped out but to what end? You lost miserably well."

"I did all I could."

"You did nothing!" Caspian’s bellowed in rage. He was careful about nothing at this point. As much as he was vile, he would not lie just like that for something so important.

"Okay," he said less harshly than before. "What were you thinking? That I happily let that happen and in the end, I am blamed for your conspiracy and reduced to this state?"

Before Yonder could speak he continued. "He had me watch as he gave the woman I hate the most my position. Is this what I would betray you for?"

Yonder could not argue with his reasoning. It made absolute sense but no matter how he chose to look at it, he could only spot one error.

His faltering gaze went up again, maintaining their firm front against Caspian as he asked. "And what if your demotions, the attack, his making of Era regent, is nothing more than a ruse?"

"How bloody dare you, Yonder? I put my life on the line to have you win this battle and you come here to tell me such rubbish? You know from your heart of heart, if this was a ruse, then why are you still here?" His breathing vane in heavy as he glared him in the face.

"Shouldn’t you be afraid that if it is a ruse, you would be captured or worse, killed on the spot?"

"No. I could care less. I am but a man that does the bidding of my king and I came here to personally kill the betrayed," Yonder spat out. The

"Hhahaa, say what you want to say. I betrayed no one." At the same time a thought came to mind as the scene from that day flashed in his mind.

"I should have known better." Yonder arched a brow expectantly at him. "It was no wonder another Lord who never went to that battle rode with him back and a few of his armies were his palace guards. They never left when he did but they returned with him."

His gaze returned to Yonder, now daring him to kill him with newfound boldness in his eyes.

"And if it is my death you are after, with the strong belief that I betrayed you, then please, be my guest and push that dagger through my chest."

Shocking Yonder, Caspian gripped his hand firmly and pulled it up to his chest, daring Yonder to do that which he wanted to do.

The only thing saving him now from having his skin belief out was his coat he was wearing.

"I would not stop you, just so you know but make your decision wisely," Caspian

Yonder narrowed his eyes further as he watched the dark expression in Caspian’s eyes and without thinking too much or speaking about anything, a subtle smile envelop his face.

"My pleasure." His grip on the dagger tightened, wearing his signature sinister smile on his lip as he pressed the tip of the blade on his chest, pressing hard against his coat.

Through it all, Caspian neither said anything not did his gaze falter.

"You are slow, get on with it."

"Ah, why the impatience or did you forget what I said about slow torture? I just might use your method and do more to you, don’t you think."

"Go ahead then," Caspian challenged.

"I sure will." He pressed the dagger more and before he could do anything, he stopped and let out a husky laugh.

That very second the door swung open, revealing Diona draped in a green fitted gown with fled from the hips down to her feet.

Both men whipped their head to the side to see the young lady walk in. Allow, Diona lifted her head, however before she could look up complete, she threw a small dagger at them, knocking the dagger off Yonder’s hand as he gook took some steps away from Caspian.

CLANK!

Satisfied by the outcome, she slowly she crossed the space between herself and the men coming to a stop before them.

"Are you two done playing who is more cruel? Or do you need me to smack that nonsense off?"

Yonder’s brows remained lifted up, watching her every move. There was no doubt she looked more dangerous, like a silent fortress.

He has been the one watching Caspina but surprisingly, his daughter was there too.

"Hmm. What is it?"

"What isn’t it?" Diona questioned. "Rather than get at each ofher’s throat, we need to plot our way and method in bringing Era down. Visit needs to see her for who she really is."

"What should I trust you?" Yonder asked, meeting her gaze with his.

"Because we are your best inside hope," she said firmerly. "Also, my father here knows a lot about this kingdom. If you want to defeat Vidor, you need him."

"But you betrayed me."

"But you weren’t convinced yourself." She turned her head to face her father and sighed. "I thoroughly questioned one of the men who went to battle and he spilled everything."

"Really?" Caspian and Yonder inquired at the same time.

"Yes. Turns out Lord Damian led the King’s royal guards, clearing them in the Alpha Army’s armour. They pulled up a big one on you, Lord Yonder. We never betrayed you."

His eyes datkened, his brain slowly comprehending the news to ensure he did not miss a tiny detail.

After some time Yonder let out a husky laughter before whipping off all traces of a smile.

"Then I guess, I just have to add this Lord Damian to my target along with Vidor’s Queen. This is surely going to be interesting."
