Chapter 252

"Huh, Era, are you listening?" His deep voice broke her out from her trance and pulled her back to reality.

"Yes," she smiled proudly at him. I am okay."

"Then what was it with that smile?" His eyes narrowed at her, watching to make sure she wasn’t going to lie her way out of this one.

"I was thinking of reasons why you are so perfect and the only I could think of was the fact that I love you."

His smile brightened up instantly and he pressed a kiss on her nose bridge. "Now you see you are behaving like me, or the way you thought I behaved when I made you regent."

"That was different, Vidor. I just see a different side of you daily and I am overwhelmed."

"I would take that as a compliment," he smiled again.

"Yes, you should. It was a compliment."

"Good. So let’s get you cleaned up. You wouldn’t want Aeverie entering or any of your attendants to drop your food and caught a whim of our lovemaking."

"We didn’t make love," Era protested.’

"Do not tell me that you are smart but you can’t figure it out?" Era’s brows furrowed at his remark.

It took her some time to calm down and nodded her reply.

"Fine. Let’s go have a bath. But first, I want to lie in your arms like this."

"Okay, whatever you say, love. Whatever you say. After all, I am yours and you have me to yourself the entire night."

~Caspian’s Chambers~

The sound of glass shattering as a big cup was thrown to the ground echoed everywhere in the chambers, yet he was not calmed.

He turned around, running his fingers through his hair as a low growl tore through his throat.

How well had he fallen? He was always there doing what needs to be done. He got things ready and steady for Vidor. Though his methods were wrong it yielded much effect and the people feared him.

Because of Caspian, everyone felt Vidor was as ruthless as he was.

Not that the tyrant king could be spared of such brunt.

However, he did that mostly to other kingdoms that would not bow to him and subdue them ruthlessly.

Which was the exact same thing that happened to era’s people. Yes, they were not like the others but with such mad power came a large range of distrust and now Vidor proved to Caspian just how untrusting he could be and trusting as well.

"Arrghh!" He threw the pile of books on the table straight to the ground without thinking, while roaring in rage.

"Damn it! Vidor! Vidor! Vidor! How dare you do this to me?!"

The more he spent time ranting and yelling out his rage, the more his brain buzzed and a painful headache racked through his brain.

"God!"

His venting went on for some minutes and when a knock came on the door, he failed to notice and kept on pacing.

It was not until he heard someone call his name that his senses seem to catch on and he turned in the direction.

His eyes landed on the visitor and his breathing stilled. There was no way n hell he could have been present but he was.

"Y-Yon... Yonder?"

"Hello, Caspian."

The mischievous dark glint flashing in his eyes as he stepped out from the dark place he had remained in all these while could not go unnotice by Caspian who felt a sudden chill run down his spine.

"Do not tell me that been demoted in position had gotten your tongue? Cause I seem to recall you cursing Vidor, just now."

Caspian’s eyelid blinked a lot in a second. The reality of the one dangerous man, Vidor feared a bit standing before him was something both overwhelming and at the same time exhilarating.

Seeing Yonder alive gave him the hope that indeed there was going to be a way in paying era for all she had done and make Vidor suffer.

"Yonder." His shocked expression was immediately changed into a smile as he spread both hands open to the side to welcome Yonder.

Sensing the hesitation from Yonder, he closed the gap between them, wanting to envelop him in his hug when the latter glared him daggers.

Seeming unfazed by his reaction, Caspian moved in still until the shining tip of what seemed like a brand new dagger pointed right at his side and he halted.

He did not need someone to tell him that Yonder was not playing and if the later so wished it, he would have killed.

He had so many opportunity to do so while he was distracted by his rage earlier.

He swallowed hard, keeping his gaze on the dagger in the hands of his friend.

"Yonder. You are not going to do that right? I mean, you need me and I need you."

"Check again, Caspian. I do not need you."

"Are you sure about that? Bceause you had several opportunities to kill me just now when I was distracted but you did nothing and waited tikllthis moment . That should esplain something."

"It explains nothing."

"Why?"

"Because I would not play such lousy tricks on someone like you. If I would kill you, I would let you watch me do it. That’s how torturously slow I would drive daggers into your body."

His eyes darkened further. The aura un the room changed drastically after he voiced out those words.

"Then what do you want with me?"

"Isn’t it obvious?"

"That?" Caspian asked now dropping his hands at his side and staring keenly at Yonder.

"You betrayed me, Caspian and I should tell you what I do to betrayers? I cut them down, tear their body bits by bits while alive and feed it to the dogs."

"Funny," yet no smile formed on his lips nor reached his eyes. "I could say I virtually do the same, but this time around, I stab you with needles on your feet."

He took a pause hoping to get a good enough reaction from Yonder but al he saw as the same old bland look.

"Then set you ablaze after peeling a bit of your fresh and trail more fuel around you then allow you run as the fire quenches your soul and the pain from being pierced tears you apart."

No one spoke. They both stared at each other with fire burning hard in their eyes while their rage equaled no other.

"Is this funny?" Yonder inquired, noticing the lips of Caspian turning upwards.

"No. I was just thinking how great it would be to have it done again. So what say you? Because I fulfilled my end of the bargain and kept siege of the capital, waiting for that one word for Vidor’s death yet you failed."

"Failed? Do you even hear yourself , Caspian?"

"Yes I do. You failed, Yonder. He was outnumbered. You had the victory by a air’s breath. All you needed to do was to cease the moment but what did you do? Let him ride back in victory."

"I would have had his Alpha armies not arrived on the battle front, idiot!"
