Chapter 238
The day went on and soon, Yonder got a knock on his door at the inn they were staying in. He had been expecting that knock since he got there and asked one of his men to go get him the spy.
"Enter."
The door creaked open with a loud noise, ushering in two men. One after the other.
"My Lord, he is here," the first man said and gave way for the spy to come close.
Nodding his head, Yonder approved. "It took lesser than anticipated, Corner. Good."
"My Lord, good afternoon."
"Yes." Yonder sized him up from head to toe. The person before him was no more than a young lad, probably at twenty or not even up to.
However handsome and well built looking, he was for his age, there was an air about him that disgusted Yonder.
"Hmm. What news have you for me?"
"My Lord, it is as I earlier reported. His majesty has grown affectionate toward the queen. Also, Lord Caspian has been demoted in ranks and..."
"Not what I need to hear, Kairo. It has been reported before. However, I would wish to know more about this queen."
Both Corner and Kairo looked at each other before directing their gaze back to Yonder.
"What? Do you think if I cannot take Vidor with strength, there are no other ways I can do it?" Yonder asked them.
"No. Not exactly my point my Lord. I only thought..."
"Kairo, you are young and ambitious," he cut in. "Who told you that before me, you have the capabilities to think?"
No one spoke, rather the room fell into complete and utter silence.
"Answer me."
"My Lord, it is just that we felt you came here to plan and conquer Vidor with Lord Caspian, but now. You are after his queen," Kairo voiced out boldly.
"I am not after his queen for personal reasons. I need to use her to get to Vidor. Worse, when we can find the secrets as to why he loves her and apply them to our own women, we can have them seduce him and make him fall. Then kill him silently."
"If that happens, Caspian is no longer regent of Etheria," Kairo analyzed. "So, power won’t fall into your hands easily."
"Even if he is not the regent, we can attack Etheria at a vulnerable state and plunge the kingdom into crisis. Slyerians are not afraid of them. It is Vidor who is their might. With him gone, so would be their spirit. And I doubt a woman can rule."
"Hmm, you are right, My Lord," Corner began. "If things go your way, then what is Etheria that we cannot conquer."
"Glad you see it that way." He stood from the bed and walked towards his window with both hands crossed behind him. "Hmm, Etheria, your days of peace would soon be over."
"Yes, my Lord. Once again you have proven that your ideas and your wisdom far supersede that of a normal individual," Corner paused.
"Yes. Anyways," he turned mid-way to look at Kairo. "You are to inform Caspian or wait." He paused for a minute then resumed. "Watch him for me. Tomorrow I shall visit him. Inform me when he has retired for the night to his chambers."
"Got it, My Lord. I would do as you have instructed."

By the time Vidor was done tending to things with Era, it was time for him to leave as well and tend to even more pressing matters.
"My Love."
"Hmm?" she peeled her gaze reluctantly from the scroll she was reading to stare at him. Her brows creased a bit to see him standing up. "Leaving already?"
"What? If I recall, hours ago, you wanted me gone."
"That was hours ago. I have grown accustomed to your company, so why can’t you stay longer?" Era pouted.
"Of course you know I want to stay with you..."
"But," she continued for him, pressing her lips to the side. "But what, Vidor?"
"I need to shower."
"Bathe here." The words had already left her mouth before she realized what she had said and clasped her lips shut.
"Hehheee," a nice chuckle left his lips at the same time, causing her to shut her eyes quickly. "I like that. Do not be shy, it is only you and I here."
"I did not say anything. You should not be like this."
"I accept your offer," Vidor blurted out.
"Huh?" She opened her eyes a little bit to see if he was lying and indeed, he wasn’t. "Why didn’t you use it since. It is not like I was going to stop you or anything."
"It is a woman’s bathroom. You do not wander in there like that and see..." He cut his sentence short and smiled at her. "I know what you must be thinking. I have already seen your body, so there is nothing."
Era shrugged and dropped her hands. He had a point. The thought did indeed cross her mind.
"You see. I need to respect your privacy and seek permission."
"You have my permission," she blurted out. "Just stay a little while longer. I have gotten used to your company," she confessed.
"Would you be bathing me?" Era rolled her eyes at him. Give him a hand and he would take her body. Tsk.
He walked up to where she was at her table and squatted beside her. "My love, if I stay here too long, I would not be able to control myself and have you. So, let me go distract myself with work."
Understanding his reasons, she left out a sigh and nodded her head in understanding. "Fine."
"Thank you." He reached up with his fingers and gently caressed her cheeks. "Do not worry. If you want, I can come to sleep here tonight, hmm?"
"Okay."
"Better." He stood up and turned his head towards the door. "Who is out there?"
"Sire, I am," Evans responded quickly.
"Come in." He walked away from Era and went to the side small stood by his chair and picked up a scroll. As soon as Evans walked in, he bowed before them and awaited Vidor’s orders.
"Come close and take." Obeying, he moved closer and looked at Vidor. "This is my decree. Have it sent and established, immediately!"
