Chapter 211: Minister of the Night

Chapter 209
Stepping into her bath, Era allowed the coolness of the water to swallow her body as she descended ever slowly into the bath, allowing it to cover up her naked flesh.
She wasted no time and placed her head gently on the edge of the bath. She allowed the chilly water to do its wonders on her sensitive skin.
It was what her poor brain and body needed.
In all her brain did not want that either. Yes, she was more relaxed and it was also a problem as it gave her more time to do what she needed to do. She had to ponder on the matter at hand what it meant.
Was she fully accepting him as her husband? Was she forgetting all he did? If so, did she love him too? Did she forgive him for the death of her homeland and its people?
Why was she into him like this?
Or was it because she was really lonely at heart that she was giving in to him and her heart was behaving this way?
What would be the logical explanation as to why her body yearned for him, his touch, his kisses, his want of her, those burning eyes?
All Era knew was that no matter how she thought about it she could not do much about her current situation and could only hope things got better.
Slowly, her mind drifted back again to no other scene but the time he apologized from his heart.
When he did that, she could tell he was sincere even if she was mad at him. She watched a grown man cry. He wept like he had lost something or someone so dear to him, but that was not the case.
The king of Etheria cried because of her love. One she was incapable of giving him now anyway.
She promised him to stay by his side forever, but she did not promise to love him forever and that was what Vidor failed to note.
He was much too happy with it and she too... At that point, her heart mattered to her and it spoke. She listened.
"Oh Era. You are hopeless right now. I think it is high time I ask for Damian’s help. I need to rally my allies in the palace and kingdom and begin my next plan and attack first. Caspian would not take this lying down and I can only do one thing, stay prepared."
She exhaled briefly while dipping her head into the water and remaining there for forty seconds before she raised her head.
She reached up less slowly than before and wiped the water from her face with her hands while inhaling the fresh air deeply.
"Ah!" She repeated her actions two more times and when she was done, her eyes were already becoming red from the water assault.
"This is better. Era wake up. The battle is nigh. No more plays with Vidor. Time to start enacting my act of revenge. Vengeance Arising. My enemies await your destruction and my friends I would protect you. No more time to delay the inevitable. It is time to start making them pay."

The sound of his boots thudding loudly in the passage hall could be heard far away even before he got to his study, alerting those there to beware of his arrival.
Rounding the corner, he acted normal as though the fun time he had with his wife in the garden did not just happen and thank goodness Era wasn’t as crazy as him when it came to making out time, else he would have suffered it loads having hickeys all over.
Not that he minded it though. He would have been proud of it.
The second his guards saw him, they lowered their heads at him till he walked past before lifting their heads.
Though he was king, he appreciated that they were far away from his door because his study was his private time to think most times.
And conduct some things. Having a guard at the post, wasn’t so convenient.
He pushed the door open himself and walked right in. Once the doors were pushed to the side, the person inside turned around to see who had come into the King’s study. As soon as his eyes sighted Vidor, he immediately lowered his head and bowed to Vidor.
"Your majesty."
’Rise."
"Yes, your majesty."
Vidor walked in with his hands behind his back like a professor ready to scold and inspect his student.
"Close the door."
"Yes."
A cringe sound followed and soon, they were in the privacy of his study to discuss the matters that really did matter right now.
"What news have you for me?" Vidor asked as he planted his butt on his seat majestically while crossing his leg and displaying his hand on either side of the chair rest.
"Yes, your maj..."
"Hold." He lifted his left hand to stop him and once he was sure he got his full attention, Vidor voiced his opinion. "It had better be good. I broke up an important arrangement for this."
"Very, your majesty. Be rest assured."
"Fine. Speak."
"It is just as you suspected your majesty."
"What gives?"
"The matter with Meth. The Lord is not corrupt but he has people associated. During the battle that day, it would have taken hours before the message got to you that they were being attacked. However, the time the attack was to happen, premeditatedly, it was something else and you knew."
"Hmm, no wonder when we got there, they had not taken the city and were still fighting."
"Exactly, your majesty and that would be because he knew of the attack beforehand and the time frame you sued to prepare the soldiers and match there to Meth."
So if all was well and given, you should have gotten there probably around the time or after when Lord Damian arrived."
"True. You have a point. However, how did you find out about this ploy in Meth?"
"Well, I came across him when I went to the tavern slash brothel house to scout info. He did not make it hard with how he bragged about being Lord Caspian’s man. I had a girl service him. One of my persons, she was, and she got all intel from him after he was drugged."
"Good. "
"Honestly, Lord Caspian, if he wants to do works like this, he needed to do this well and with the right people not a lousy noise maker like that brat."
"Okay. Thank you for your advice but you would not be telling him."
"Yes, your majesty. As you wish."
None of them spoke for some minutes and then he spoke up, drawing attention to himself.
"However, what would you do? Do we lock the scoundrel up?" He piqued Xander
"No. Not yet. Give it time." He let out a satisfied sigh and nodded his head at him. "We cannot show our cards on the table like that. We need to make them think we are the stupid."
"Yes, your majesty."
"Good. This is why you are called Minister of the Night. With you, I would root out and finish all those needed to be finished."
