Chapter 187
There was just so many things that got her angry. First his and Damian’s proclamation of her love, bloody hell. She never asked them to because to her, she was not in love with Vidor.
She liked his kisses and the way he was soft with her when he wanted to show her his need but other than that, nothing and the next worst thing was him letting the mastermind behind the conspiracy off. He was so going to get it from her.
Seeing her storm her way over to where they were, Evans bowed his head quickly even before she got there and turned around to announce her arrival when h heard her lovely voice call out fiercely.
"Stop. Do not bother. Open."
"He had wanted to refuse her but recalling all that happened in the throne room, he knew better than to interfere and block her path.
Besides, Vidor should have seen this coming and maybe, just maybe, he did it intentionally to get her coming to meet him.
He pushed the doors open and quickly stepped to the side to allow her in before rushing to close the door to give them some privacy.
"Dismiss," Evans ordered the king’s profession.
Without being told, he knew the two needed some alone time, so they were going to give it to them.

As soon as the door shut behind her, Era did not have any time. She knew he was aware of her presence but he did not turn to look at her. Rather he stood his ground, facing the balcony and ignoring her presence.
"Why?" she let out a bit calmly for a start.
"I knew you would come."
"Answer me, Vidor. What the hell did you just do back there? How could you see this and not act accordingly? Do you know what you just did, you threw away such a golden opportunity to get Caspian to pay for what he has done and what did you do? Demote him!"
Vidor let out a sigh but he still did not give out any answer.
"Why aren’t you speaking? Don’t you have the heart to face me after all you did? You got your conspirators but yet you chose to let them go without a fight. Am I the only one considered or you are not bothered that you almost died in battle. What would I have done, huh?"
He knew she was hurt. Angry in fact by his decision but he made his decision for a reason and that included her safety.
"Answer me, Vidor. What the heck was the meaning of all those nonsense that happened there?"
His eyes dropped to a close again. The sound of his breathing was heard from all around him. Her words had hit him hard where it hurts and it was high time he made her know it.
"And what the hell was with you and Damian about me loving you? Where did I ever say that?!"
She breathed hard, panting in fact, with the sounds of her uneven breathing echoing in the chambers.
"Damian’s reason I can understand. He said that hoping to turn the argument in my favour but for yours? I never said anything."
That was it. He was done letting her torture herself with her words just because she was mad.
He let out another deep sigh before turning around to face her. When their gazes met, Vidor could barely believe the sight in front of him.
"I love you, Era. I am so much in love with you."

"What?"
Even though she knew this fact, it still was a mad thing for her when he confessed plainly.
"I know you feel you do not love me but that is because the anger in your heart is eating you up. I can tell from your kiss. I know you have feelings for me."
Throwing her hands a bit in the air, Era turned halfway around. This was the problem. The moment she kissed him she knew he would not let go anymore. And now this?
"Vidor."
"No Era, you must and you should know. I love you. With all my heart I adore you. I wish things were different but.."
"Exactly, they are not!" She hollered at him, cutting him short at the best part. "They are not, Vidor. Things cannot change in the blink of an eye."
"But you... You changed."
"Perhaps I got carried away a little, caring for you and you misquoted that but that was that. I told you before, I CAN NOT LOVE YOU."
His eyes dropped close. He had to suck in a deep breath to protect his fragile heart from the hurt she was throwing at him so carelessly.
"Fine." He pried his eyes open, stared at her in the face before looking away. "Now to answer your other questions. I let him off for a reason. I am not daft to all of his actions but I believe..."
"Believe what or was it that all I just said you did not grasp it? Who allows a killer like that to run free, huh? Shouldn’t this still tell you that my family were framed? If he can ensure the total annihilation of my kingdom and family, do you think he cannot ensure the doom of Etheria? Be wise Vidor."
"I am wise, Era! Very wise in fact. Up till now, you are not seeing this from the bigger picture. I have made a grave mistake ónce and it is costing me the love of my wife and our happiness. Do you think I would want to make the same mistakes again and this time lose my kingdom, my wife and my life? Have some bloody faith in me!"
"How can I when tour decisions are irrational!" She yelled back.
Letting out a deep breath, he reached up with his fingers massaging his temples in hopes of easing out his worry.
"Have you ever heard of the term, keep your friends close and your enemies closer?"
She stopped for a while, her mind grasping what he had just said and understanding where he was coming from.
"Do you think that with all that has happened, I can just easily let things slide? Besides even for your family’s death, I need to gather proof. Also, I cannot just thrash out a minister. Worse at this point without proper evidence is to remove him from my council and exile him but Caspian knows just too much and he would be a deadly bomb in the hands of our enemies."
She blinked, allowing him to explain further and not minding the fact that he was drawing closer to her.
"+just from his small plan with the Slyerians and I almost died. Who knows what other craziness had been plotted with Yonder Blaze? Not just me but the whole kingdom and your life are in danger. I would rather have him close than give him the freedom to run freely and plot his next attack well."
Just hearing him out, she knew that indeed she had misjudged him and his decisions and got so mad at him.
"I only have him such a light punishment because he did not regard you and even in my presence. I cannot convict him of reason even though I know he is behind it. Rather I will give him room to make more mistakes and give me all the pieces of evidence I want and then finally get him off! So next time when I make a decision, rather than going ballistic on me, calm down and let me explain. I love you too much to put you at risk, Era."
"But you already did! I would be a much bigger target now. You humiliated him and Diona." She took a breather, calmed down a bit and turned back to look at him. "By the way what is with you and her seducing you? Since when did you have her as your mistress and now you want me too? The logic Vidor, straighten your affairs out."
His heart clenched at her words. She was not just curious but accusing him to find out the truth.
It hurt him that she would even think so and at that moment, all he could think of was how to make her believe him.
Without thinking twice about the situation, he closed the gap between them swiftly, placed one hand in her waist and the other on her face as he captured her lips in a fierce, demanding, hungry kiss.
She was his and his alone. He wanted her so much that each passing moment without her felt like pure torture.
He never knew this was how love could be. If he knew it was this hurtful and painful perhaps he would have guarded his heart or maybe not.
No, with the way and manner he kissed her, taking all she gave to his advantage, he most definitely would do the same thing if given the opportunity again. He would choose to love her.
