Married To The Blind Alpha
Chapter 32: A Game

Chapter 32: A Game

Days turned into weeks, and Aria kept seeing less of Hailey. Out of worry, she had even gone to the Shadow Moon pack to look for her, but she wasn’t allowed in.

Her calls went to voice mails, and texts were left read and unanswered; everything reminded her of how she and Damien didn’t speak to each other for two years.

Staring at the book in front of her, Aria couldn’t concentrate. She could swear that she had been on the same paragraph since she opened her finance textbook.

Her phone buzzed, and thinking it was a message from her friend, Aria quickly opened it, but to her disappointment, it was from Layla.

She ignored the message and looked through the window of the cafe she was sitting in.

The city seemed so full of life, but to Aria, it was too quiet; she felt as if something big was about to happen, or maybe she was being paranoid because Milton had not sent her any message after asking her to increase Tristan’s dosage.

Aria brought her coffee to her lips as she let out a sigh and wondered what Tristan was doing right now. She had woken up to a note from him, telling her not to be worried and that he would be back very soon.

Her phone buzzed again, and Aria opened her phone to see she had received another message from Layla, asking them to meet up.

Aria stared at it for a while before she replied, "Another time."

Although Aria and Layla had grown closer after seeing each other in class regularly, Aria still felt uneasy about Layla dyeing her hair red, just like hers, only a few days after they met. It left her feeling creeped out.

The sky suddenly became dark, catching Aria’s attention, and she whispered, "It looks like it’s going to rain soon."

........

"Have you gotten a cure yet for Aria’s grandmother’s poison?" Tristan asked Suzette.

Suzette shook her head and said, "Not yet, but soon."

"How soon? The woman has less than three months to live."

"I already know the poison given to her; however, I need time to create a cure for her. Suzette replied. She looked at Tristan and said, "You seem to be in a bad mood."

Tristan sighed and said "Are you actually expecting me to start smiling and laughing after finding out that Aria and grandmother are the last remaining member of the Yalk clan. After the war with the last Cadian, two elders of the Yalk clan were still alive, and now one of that elder line has been completely wiped off while Aria and her grandmother are the only ones remaining from the other elder line."

"I know what you are thinking, but it isn’t possible. A Cadian can’t be created unless he was born with powers, and after the death of the last Cadian, the people of the Yalk clan were cursed to never have powers again. They became worse than an Omega."

"Then who killed them and why? Of what purpose are the Ferals being created, and why did one attack Aria? Why was her Grandmother poisoned, and why was she sent to me? Whoever this person is, he knew very well that I would choose Aria to be my bride. He knows me, and to him everything is a game."

"I wish I could answer your questions, Tristan, but I can’t. I have never hesitated to share my visions with you, and lately, all I have been seeing, is you, dead in that girl’s hands."

"I don’t want to hear it. You do not need to tell me about my death, Suzette. I already know that I am dying, but I won’t die until I have ended this game," Tristan said and suddenly felt a burning sensation in his hand.

He winced and looked at it.

"The Elders are calling for an Alpha meeting," Tristan said as the mark on his hand began to fade.

"A meeting. Did something happen?" Suzette asked. She knew that the Elders rarely call for a meeting; in fact, their meetings are held once a year, and it wasn’t long before they had one, so for another meeting to be called again, it must mean something has indeed happened.

"Keep searching for the cure, and also you drew the circle wrong. You need to draw another line at the center.

Suzette looked at her circle. She knew something was missing in it, but according to her spell book, it was right, so how did Tristan know? She raised up her head to look at him with a questioning gaze, but he was gone.

Suzette wondered how Tristan knows so much about spells. This was not even the first time he had corrected her about her spells, and whenever she would ask him, he would always find a way to change the topic.

"You are truly a mystery, Tristan Grant."

........

Shadow Moon Pack.

Hailey was lying on her bed scrolling through the many messages Aria had sent her.

She would love to reply to each of them, but she couldn’t. At this time, it is best if they both stay away from each other for now.

A knock on the door made her to sit upright as she said, "Come in."

Her brother Liam, who was one of the pack’s strongest warriors, came in and said, "I came to check on my baby sister."

Hailey scoffed and said, "Can you at least stop pretending that you care about me?"

"You think I do not care about you? I promised our mother that I would take care of you on her deathbed."

"And selling me off, cutting me off from my only friend, is your way of taking care of me? You know how much I wanted a mate; I have looked forward to this for years, and it will all end in a few days time."

"Oh, stop your whining, Hailey. How many people do you think get married to their mate? Dad has actually found a very good match for you. He is handsome and powerful, and very soon his father will step down, and he will become the Alpha of the Hollow Pack. You will be a Luna in the werewolf world and a respectable woman in the human world, so stop acting like an ungrateful brat."

Hailey laughed and said, "You and Dad act as if you are doing this for me, but in actual truth, you are doing this for yourself. For your greed."

"What are you talking about?" Liam asked with a frown.

"I know the truth. I already know why Dad wants me to get married to the son of Alpha Fabian. He wants to start a coup, a treasonous act in the eyes of others."

"Be quiet."

"While acting as a perfect Beta, he longs to have the title of an Alpha and not a Beta. Tell me something: Is Dad responsible for the recent disappearance of Alpha Milton?"

Liam looked at her angrily and threatened, "If you repeat these words to anyone else, then I will forget that you are my sister and cut off your tongue."

"Threaten me all you want, but I am not afraid. What you both are planning could make us have the label of a traitor. If father plans fail, then we will become like an outcast, worse than a rogue."

"It won’t fail. All you have to do is play your part right, and your only part in this is to marry the only son of Alpha Fabian."

"What if I don’t want a part in this?" Hailey asked with tears in her eyes.

"You don’t have a choice, Hailey. For years, both your father and I have always cared about what you wanted and didn’t want, but not today. Stop being selfish and support your family just as we have always supported you."

"So have you already killed him? It’s been three weeks, and Alpha Milton hasn’t been seen. Is he... already dead?"

Liam sighed and said, "Milton’s disappearance has nothing to do with us. Even Father is surprised at his disappearance, because he has never disappeared without telling Dad, his beta."

"Even you don’t know where he is?"

"No, I don’t, but it doesn’t matter. Alpha Milton’s disappearance is actually favorable to us. Get some rest, Hailey. I will have someone to bring down your food."

"I am not hungry." Hailey said, dismissing his fake gesture.

Liam glanced at his sister one more time and said, "Be yourself." Before leaving the room.

Hailey’s tears fell after he left, and she lay back on her bed, crying like a child, hoping that someone would rescue her from this ridiculous marriage.

........

Immediately Tristan entered the venue for their meeting, the first thing he perceived was the smell of a corpse.

"For the first time in history, Alpha Tristan isn’t late to our meeting." Alpha Elywnn let out a snide remark.

Tristan ignored him and continued walking with his cane, and he couldn’t take the terrible smell anymore; he asked, "Why is the place smelling like a dead corpse?"

"That is because there is a dead corpse, Tristan. Alpha Milton is dead, and in this room lies his body."
