Married To The Blind Alpha -
Chapter 16: Dead In Her Arms
Chapter 16: Dead In Her Arms
In a dark cave, where the only light came from the lit candles, a middle-aged woman stood before a drawn circle, cutting her palm while muttering foreign words. The moment the candlelight flickered, she paused and looked up at the man who appeared before her, his golden eyes gleaming in the dim light.
"Alpha Tristan," the woman said, bowing her head slightly in respect.
Tristan’s eyes scanned the circle the woman was standing in, a frown forming on his face. "Do I even want to know?"
"You were the one who asked that I find the leader of the Ferals as soon as possible," she replied.
"And?" Tristan pressed, his expression serious.
The woman sighed, letting the knife fall to the floor. "Nothing. Either they have someone incredibly powerful who can hide their presence, or perhaps the Ferals don’t have a leader at all."
"They do have a leader," Tristan stated firmly. "I’m certain of it."
"They are wolves who have lost their minds as a result of losing their mates or something traumatic happening to them. They are untamed, so who could be capable of taming a bunch of crazy wolves?
"Someone even crazier," Tristan answered, his voice low. "The death of John Calhoun proves they aren’t as mad as you think."
"John is dead?" she asked, startled.
"Yes. And soon, the Elders will call an emergency meeting of all Alphas to declare the Ferals a threat."
"But you seem unbothered by it."
Tristan gave her a playful smile as he took a few steps toward her, halting when he reached the edge of the circle. "Why did you bring me here, Suzette?"
Suzette studied him for a moment, her eyes lingering on him before she spoke. "You’ve finally found her."
The smile on Tristan’s face faltered, and he gave her a cold look. "What do you mean?"
"You’ve married her," Suzette said, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Tristan’s expression darkened as he warned, "Do not interfere in my affairs." He turned to leave when Suzette shouted.
"She will be the end of you. I’ve seen it."
Tristan paused in his tracks, turning back to her. "What did you see?"
"It was unclear, but..."
"So you are not sure." Tristan muttered.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, a violent cough escaped him. He wiped his mouth and saw blood on his palm. Suzette’s gaze flickered to his hand, noticing the blood as her expression shifted to concern.
"She’s your curse, Tristan. That girl has never been worthy of you, not in your first life and definitely not in your last," she said, her voice soft but heavy with warning.
Tristan glared at her, his eyes hardening. "Watch your words, Suzette. I gave you life once, and I won’t hesitate to take it back."
Suzette ignored his threats and kept saying, "My vision might not be clear, but I know what I saw. You, dead in her arms, and I have no doubt that it is going to be her fault."
"Enough!" Tristan growled.
Suzette flinched and finally kept quiet.
"I have just two years to live with her, Suzette. Two years, and it will be over. I deserve to have a love story with my Aitana, don’t I?"
There was a brief, aching silence as Suzette’s heart broke at the vulnerability in Tristan’s eyes. Still, she pressed on, her voice quieter now. "And what if it costs you your life?"
Tristan’s gaze hardened again. "If you think I’ve been living after Aitana died, then you never really knew me. Now, send me back."
Suzette’s eyes softened, and with a snap of her finger, Tristan disappeared, and the circle she took hours drawing was gone.
Suzette looked at it and muttered, "I hope your love story doesn’t become a death sentence."

At noon, Aria and Hailey arrived at the Shadow Moon Pack. This time, two different men were stationed at the gate.
Hailey greeted them briefly, and they opened the gate without hesitation. However, when they reached Alpha Milton’s mansion, Marcus, the same guard from before, stood in his usual spot, blocking their path.
"Step aside, Marcus," Hailey said coldly. "You know Alpha Milton is expecting us."
Marcus smirked, his gaze shifting lazily from Hailey to Aria. "The Alpha is expecting her," he said, nodding toward Aria, "but not you."
"What?" Hailey’s voice was sharp with disbelief.
"Your father, however, has asked me to inform you that he’d like to have a word with you," Marcus added with a smug tone.
Hailey’s expression faltered at the mention of her father. She turned to Aria, her eyes filled with concern. "Will you be alright?"
Aria gave her a reassuring nod. "I’ll be fine. Thank you."
Hailey pulled her into a brief hug before stepping back and watching her friend walk into the mansion alone.
Aria stepped into the house, and once again, it felt eerily empty. Why does he live in such a big house all by himself? she wondered.
Though she had only been here once before, she remembered the way to Alpha Milton’s office. When she arrived, she knocked softly, and his voice called out from inside, "Come in."
Opening the door, Aria found Alpha Milton seated behind his desk, holding a photo in his hand. At the sound of her footsteps, he set the picture down and looked up at her.
"I’m impressed, Aria," he said, his tone calm but laced with curiosity. "You’ve managed to accomplish something no one else could."
Confused, Aria frowned. "What have I done?" she asked cautiously.
Milton rose from his chair, his gaze fixed on her. "When I asked you to make Tristan choose you as his wife, I had no idea the Elders had already selected potential brides for him. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have sent you, because it would have been a lost cause. But to my surprise, he chose you. He defied the Elders and picked you instead."
He paused, studying her intently. "So tell me, Aria, what exactly did you do to make him choose you?"
"I seduced him," Aria said boldly, her voice steady.
Milton raised an eyebrow, his disbelief evident. "Seduced him?"
She nodded. "When he was alone, I approached him, seduced him, and asked him to marry me."
For a moment, Milton simply stared at her, his gaze piercing. Then, the warmth in his eyes vanished, replaced by an icy coldness. "Do you think I’m an idiot?" he asked, his voice sharp. "Don’t forget, Aria, your grandmother’s life is in my hands."
At the mention of her grandmother, Aria’s confidence faltered, her heart sinking. "But I’m telling the truth!" she protested.
Milton leaned forward, his tone harsh. "Monsters don’t get seduced, Aria. And that’s exactly what Tristan is—a monster. A monster who murdered my daughter."
Aria froze, her breath catching in her throat. "Your daughter?" she asked, frowning as the pieces began to fall into place. "Was your daughter his mate?"
