Chapter 83: Chapter 83 The Awkward Little Niece_1

Qi Cheng had just woken up. The pain in his wound kept him up all night. Seeing Xia Duo and Leilei, he stayed silent.

Xia Duo seemed to feel a bit awkward and spoke up, "Leilei insisted on coming. Her mom had to work today, so I brought her over."

Her guilty explanation revealed her true intentions.

No one exposed her.

The servant brought tea to the two of them.

Leilei took a sip of tea, looking like an elegant little princess.

Just like yesterday, she kept staring at Ji Yunhuan.

When Ji Yunhuan finally looked her way, she awkwardly averted her gaze.

This little awkward kid!

Xia Duo sat on the sofa, looking at Qi Cheng. "I heard you had a car accident. It’s really worrisome. Luckily, you’re okay!"

Ji Yunhuan sat aside, also examining Xia Duo.

Yesterday it was Xie Xingwei. Today it’s Xia Duo.

She suddenly found life in this ward to be quite exciting.

Qi Cheng lazily glanced at Xia Duo, then closed his eyes again.

Xia Duo’s expression stiffened.

Seeing Xia Duo hit a wall, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help but feel delighted.

She politely said, "Qi Cheng had a rough night and didn’t sleep. Don’t take it to heart."

For those who were injured, nighttime was especially tough. Only during the day would their bodies feel a bit more comfortable.

She was telling the truth and didn’t deceive Xia Duo.

Xia Duo’s gaze fell on Ji Yunhuan, resentment rising in her heart.

She came to see Qi Cheng, not to watch Ji Yunhuan flaunt her affection.

However, she was unwilling to just turn and leave.

Her eyes occasionally flicked to Qi Cheng, who still lay there sleeping even after two hours.

The doctor came to administer Qi Cheng’s IV drip, and Ji Yunhuan watched over him.

Xia Duo felt like she was just a fixture in the room.

Not long after, the door to the ward was pushed open. Bai Liyan walked in, followed by Fu Zilin.

Upon entering, Fu Zilin’s eyes immediately fell on Xia Duo. "Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?"

"Weren’t you planning to go somewhere else today?" Xia Duo was a bit surprised. Fu Zilin had said he’d go home, but he ended up here.

Fu Zilin’s eyes showed a hint of displeasure. "I was going to leave, but I wanted to visit Qi Cheng before I went."

He understood Xia Duo’s past relationship with Qi Cheng, but he didn’t expect her to still be hung up on Qi Cheng after all these years.

Catching your woman deceiving you was not a good feeling at all.

Xia Duo quickly explained, "Leilei insisted on coming to see her uncle, so I brought her over."

"Really?" Fu Zilin clearly didn’t believe her but chose not to argue with her there. He looked at Qi Cheng. "Is Qi Cheng sleeping? Seems like I came at a bad time."

As he spoke, Qi Cheng opened his eyes but didn’t rush to speak.

Ji Yunhuan asked with concern, "Awake?"

Qi Cheng looked at the many people in the ward, preparing to sit up. Ji Yunhuan reached out to help him.

Looking at everyone, he said, "Why are you all here?"

"Once I heard you were sick, how could I not come by?" Fu Zilin said. "You’re about to get married and still not being careful?"

Compared to Bai Liyan, it seemed Fu Zilin had a more distant relationship with Qi Cheng.

For him, visiting Qi Cheng was merely a courtesy. So he didn’t stay long in the ward before leaving.

Before leaving, he didn’t even call Xia Duo. However, Xia Duo seemed to sense his displeasure and followed him out.

Leilei was left behind.

Bai Liyan placed Leilei on his lap and looked at her. "Little princess, do you remember who I am?"

Leilei raised her head, touching his handsome face with her hand. "Uncle Bai."

"So you remember people by touching them?" Bai Liyan laughed. His eyes filled with doting affection.

Leilei laughed. "No."

Her smile was incredibly beautiful.

Ji Yunhuan looked at her radiant smile, her own lips curving upwards.

Such a little girl, even if she didn’t like her, her smile could melt anyone’s heart.

Leilei seemed to sense Ji Yunhuan was looking at her and turned her gaze.

When their eyes met, she awkwardly turned her face away again.

This little one!

Soon, Bai Liyan had to leave because of an urgent matter. The room now only had Ji Yunhuan, Qi Cheng, and Leilei left.

Leilei appeared obviously uneasy.

Ji Yunhuan, while talking to Qi Cheng, couldn’t help but glance at her.

Qi Cheng said, "Leilei, come over here."

Leilei walked over and saw that Ji Yunhuan didn’t give up her spot, saying, "Come here, I’ll hold you!"

"No," she refused awkwardly.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t coax her. "Then just stand there!"

"You..." Leilei looked at her defiantly. "You’re a bad woman!"

"Did your Teacher Xia tell you that?" Ji Yunhuan asked curiously.

Leilei turned her face away coldly, not denying it.

"It must have been your Teacher Xia who said it," Ji Yunhuan said. "If you believe everything others say, are you a fool?"

"No way!" Leilei protested angrily.

She didn’t want to be seen as a fool.

"If you’re not a fool, what are you?"

"You’re not nice to me. You don’t yield to me!" Leilei stared at the chair Ji Yunhuan was sitting on, feeling it wasn’t fair.

"Ha!" Ji Yunhuan laughed.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Am I your elder or are you my elder?"

"You are," Leilei said.

"Then shouldn’t you respect your elders?" Ji Yunhuan continued asking.

Leilei was stumped, just staring at Ji Yunhuan reluctantly.

"In that case, where am I wrong?" Ji Yunhuan said. "Besides, I saw you had nowhere to sit, and I offered to hold you. It was you who didn’t want to, right? You admit it, don’t you?"

"Yes."

Seeing how serious she looked, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help but laugh.

Kids are like this.

They know they’ll get the short end, but still choose to tell the truth.

Taking advantage of Leilei’s moment of upset, she pulled Leilei into her lap. "Alright, Auntie was just reasoning with you, not bullying you. Come on, give a smile!"

Leilei widened her eyes and looked at her.

She actually wanted to say that Auntie was so beautiful, but her pride wouldn’t let her utter such unambitious words.

Ji Yunhuan looked at her. "Next time we meet, you must be polite. Don’t say I’m not your Auntie, got it?"

Leilei nodded, contentedly settling on Ji Yunhuan’s lap.

Qi Cheng watched as Ji Yunhuan tamed Leilei so well and couldn’t help but smile.

That day, Leilei stayed with Ji Yunhuan in the hospital until her second sister-in-law came in the evening and took Leilei back to the Qi Residence.

With only the two of them left in the room, Qi Cheng looked at Ji Yunhuan. "You really have a way with her."

Ji Yunhuan smiled. "It’s not that I have a way with her; it’s just that I naturally don’t seem like a good person. Since I was a kid, children have always been a bit afraid of me."

Those who didn’t know her well were intimidated by her aura, let alone just a child.
