Chapter 331: Chapter 331: The Child is Her Everything (4)_1
"Is it me?" Yangyang asked curiously, looking at Sister Wen Nuan’s phone. Sister Wen Nuan opened the photo album stored on her phone for over two years and showed Yangyang the pictures. They were taken at Qi Cheng’s home when Yangyang was just born, and Wen Nuan had visited the Qi Family to see Ji Yunhuan.
She never had the habit of deleting photos, so they were all kept.
Yangyang had no memory of what he looked like when he was little. "This isn’t me."
"This is you," Wen Nuan said with certainty, looking at him. "What, your mom at home never told you what you looked like?"
Yangyang frowned.
Wen Nuan flipped to another photo. This one featured Ji Yunhuan’s second sister-in-law. "Then look at this. Who is this?"
"That’s my mom!" He exclaimed excitedly.
Ji Yunhuan paused, feeling like he was calling her. But upon looking, realized he was looking at the second sister-in-law.
"Now do you believe this is you?" Wen Nuan asked him.
He nodded. "It’s me, it’s me."
He looked adorably naive.
Wen Nuan smiled and continued showing him photos. "Here, look at more. These are all you. You’re so cute; I couldn’t help but take a few more."
Hearing someone praise him as cute, Yangyang pursed his lips, unable to stop himself from smiling.
Wen Nuan continued flipping through the photos. This time, it was a picture of Ji Yunhuan holding Yangyang. Back then, Yangyang really liked Ji Yunhuan. "Look, this is you and Yunhuan, right?"
Yangyang looked at himself and then at Ji Yunhuan.
This time, he chose to remain silent.
Wen Nuan didn’t mind.
Though small, he could still understand what was being said.
Wen Nuan flipped through two more photos. "Look here, Yunhuan was holding you when you were very little. Back then, you loved her. You’d cry if anyone else held you for even a little while. And these, these, you weren’t even born yet, you were still in her belly. Look, isn’t it?"
Yangyang’s face slowly darkened.
Ji Yunhuan sat by the side, feeling very emotional. "Sister Wen Nuan, you still have these photos?"
"I’ve always kept them," Wen Nuan replied. "Why? I never delete photos. I always back them up."
"But you never told me," Ji Yunhuan said. When she left, she didn’t even take her phone; everything was left at the Qi Family.
Wen Nuan looked at Ji Yunhuan and smiled. "You never asked me for them. I thought you didn’t want them. Back then, you didn’t want to deal with anything related to their family. I was afraid showing you these photos would make you sad."
At this, Wen Nuan gave Qi Cheng a cold look. "Who knew you’d be so useless and go back to him now."
Ji Yunhuan paused and looked at Qi Cheng. She didn’t know how to speak for him.
Qi Cheng didn’t seem to mind.
He stood up. "I’m going out for a bit."
Wen Nuan withdrew her gaze. She no longer talked about Ji Yunhuan. The reasons had been explained to Ji Yunhuan, whether she understood or not was up to her, and her life choices were hers to make.
Moreover, Wen Nuan knew that even if Ji Yunhuan hated Qi Cheng now, considering the child, she wouldn’t think of leaving.
Wen Nuan continued showing Yangyang the photos, including pictures of Ji Yunhuan when she was pregnant. "Yunhuan suffered so much to give birth to you, yet you don’t appreciate her at all. You even dislike her. What right do you have to hate her? If she hadn’t given birth to you, you wouldn’t even be here."
"Sister Wen Nuan," Ji Yunhuan interjected. "He’s still a child."
"So what if he’s a child?" Wen Nuan said angrily. "A child is still your son. Instantly forgetting his mother after being taught by someone else for two years? What is that? If the Qi Family had properly taught him from the start and mentioned your existence, would it be like this now? They never wanted you to return. Just look at how indifferent this little thing is to know what their family’s real thoughts are. You’re the one who’s still foolishly deceived by Qi Cheng."
"That was me... it was me who left voluntarily," Ji Yunhuan said, looking at Yangyang with guilt. "I let him down."
"So what if you’re sorry? Has Qi Cheng ever been good to you? The Qi Family is supposed to be reputable, yet has this little ethics, unable to even teach a child properly." Wen Nuan always spoke straight and didn’t care to save face for the Qi Family.
Maybe the child was the most wronged, but Ji Yunhuan had also suffered. If it weren’t for Qi Cheng’s continuous deceit and forcing her to have a child, the subsequent events wouldn’t have happened.
They treated her like a fool.
Ji Yunhuan looked at Yangyang. He was probably scared by Wen Nuan’s forceful attitude, sitting on Wen Nuan’s lap and not daring to speak.
With a pitiful look in his eyes, he timidly looked at Wen Nuan.
Ji Yunhuan reached out, "Come, Yangyang, let me hold you for a while."
He looked at Ji Yunhuan, then at Wen Nuan’s expression. Although Ji Yunhuan was a bit annoying, she wasn’t as scary, so he extended his hand to Ji Yunhuan.
This scene warmed Ji Yunhuan’s heart. Could it be that he had taken Wen Nuan’s words to heart?
She hugged her son, thinking it was the first time he’d willingly come into her arms. She felt a bit excited.
She looked at Yangyang, "Baby, don’t hate me. Mom wasn’t good before, but from now on, I’ll treat you well, okay?"
Yangyang looked at Ji Yunhuan with disdain. "You’re not my mom."
Ji Yunhuan didn’t mind. She knew he wasn’t used to it. "You loved me when you were little. Really. Think about it or look at me again. Don’t you feel any familiarity?"
"No." He avoided eye contact, refusing to look Ji Yunhuan in the eye.
Ji Yunhuan sighed. "Fine. If you don’t like me that much, I’m very hurt."
"Put me down." Yangyang struggled uncomfortably in Ji Yunhuan’s arms.
Ji Yunhuan didn’t listen. "What if I don’t?"
"I’ll cry." He glared at Ji Yunhuan seriously, kicking his legs hard. "I have a dad and mom. You’re not my mom. You’re not."
"Why won’t you believe me just once?" Ji Yunhuan helplessly held him. "Let’s go upstairs. I have something to show you."
He nodded. "Okay, put me down first."
"You can reason with me?" Seeing how clever he was, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help but laugh.
He was only two years old!
At two, he already knew how to negotiate with others.
To coax him upstairs, she had to put him down first.
Wen Nuan stood up, but she didn’t plan to go upstairs with Ji Yunhuan. "Yunhuan, I’ll head off now."
"I wanted you to stay a bit longer."
"Next time, we have plenty of opportunities. I won’t bother you today. If you want those photos, I’ll send them to you later."
"Of course, I want them." Ji Yunhuan feared missing this opportunity.
