Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Longing Spreads_1

"Injured?" Qi Cheng furrowed his brow. A sharp pang gripped his heart. "What happened?"

Mr. Gu was already in prison. She should not be in any danger outside.

The assistant said, "She was injured by a falling flowerpot and has been taken to the hospital. The second mistress asked me to inform you. Do you want to go see her?"

The assistant also knew that Qi Cheng had been missing Ji Yunhuan terribly these days. When she wasn’t around, he always stared blankly at the ring on his hand.

Clearly, he loved her so much. Yet, they kept fighting.

People are truly complicated emotional creatures.

Qi Cheng threw down his helmet, took off his racing suit, and left the racetrack, heading straight to the hospital.

In the hospital, the second sister-in-law looked at Ji Yunhuan with her head wrapped in bandages and felt a pang of heartache. "How did you manage to hit your head?"

"Nothing serious."

She had just stepped out of Wenwen’s house when who would have thought a flowerpot would fall from the sky and hit her head directly.

When someone is down on their luck, they can even choke on cold water.

The second sister-in-law said, "I’ve already called Qi Cheng. He should be coming to see you, right? You two, what’s with this separation over someone with the surname Ye?"

"It’s not entirely about Ye Suya." Ji Yunhuan knew. In the end, it was because of her and Qi Cheng.

They were both impulsive, both headstrong, and proud. When problems arose, they always put themselves first.

However, marriage is about two people slowly sanding down each other’s rough edges to stay together for a lifetime.

"Qi Cheng is really something. How long have you two been married, and he’s already treating you like this? He doesn’t know how to cherish you at all. Let me tell you, he’s always been like that! Women who got close to him never had it good for long. He seems gentle and polite, but that’s only with his own family. He’s not gentle with women at all. Mom was worried he wouldn’t find someone he liked and wouldn’t get married, but then he brought you back. I don’t know if it’s your fortune or misfortune."

The second sister-in-law treated Ji Yunhuan as one of her own, which is why she said these things.

Before, when Qi Cheng was injured, the second sister-in-law had been quite critical of Ji Yunhuan.

Qi Cheng stood outside the door, and hearing the second sister-in-law’s words, his brow furrowed again.

No wonder Ji Yunhuan always ignored him; it was because the second sister-in-law kept badmouthing him.

He walked in, and both Ji Yunhuan and the second sister-in-law looked at him.

The second sister-in-law said, "Qi Cheng came so quickly."

Qi Cheng ignored the second sister-in-law.

He glanced at Ji Yunhuan and, seeing that her injury wasn’t serious, turned and walked out.

He was very angry that the first person she contacted after getting hurt was the second sister-in-law, not him. She didn’t consider him her man at all.

"Why did he leave just as he came?" The second sister-in-law muttered in confusion as she watched his back.

The second sister-in-law didn’t understand, but Ji Yunhuan did. Seeing the second sister-in-law there, was he angry again?

In his eyes, she must have ignored him because of what the second sister-in-law said!

She sighed helplessly, thoroughly conceding to him.

After Qi Cheng left, he didn’t return. Instead, he left his assistant behind.

In the afternoon, the female housekeeper also came.

During Ji Yunhuan’s hospital stay, the two took care of her on Qi Cheng’s behalf, but Qi Cheng never showed up.

On the night she was discharged, the second sister-in-law didn’t come because of an event. The assistant and the female housekeeper took Ji Yunhuan back to the Ji Family house.

As she got out of the car, Ji Yunhuan said, "You can go back now!"

The assistant and the female housekeeper exchanged a glance. "Take care, madam."

Then they left.

Ji Yunhuan opened the gate and walked in. Seeing the quiet courtyard, she inexplicably felt a bit sad.

This used to be her home. But with only her alone, she could never find that warm feeling.

She actually missed Qi Cheng’s home very much.

She had thought that since she was sick this time, he would come to see her no matter what.

She had thought that if he appeared again, she would try not to fight with him. But he never came.

Ignoring the cold and lonely feeling, Ji Yunhuan walked to the door, took out her key from her pocket to unlock it. Suddenly, her hand was gripped, and a pair of hands pulled her forcefully into an embrace.

The person came silently, startling her into a scream.

Having stood outside for too long, his body was icy cold.

Her frail body was brought into his strong, impenetrable embrace.

He held her tightly, like punishing her, not allowing her to move.

Ji Yunhuan’s heart pounded wildly.

But she calmed down quickly. The familiar scent, familiar taste, familiar aura. Wasn’t this the man she had just been thinking of?

It was too sudden to see him that she was too nervous to speak.

It was cold at night. Held in his arms, their hearts pressed tightly together through their clothing.

Neither of them spoke, but they could feel each other’s deep yearning that had seeped into their bones.

He missed her!

That heavy longing made his embrace even tighter.

Ji Yunhuan almost felt pain from his hold.

He lowered his head, roughly found her lips, pressed her against the door, and kissed her uncontrollably.

The textured door was behind her, and his tall body was in front. Ji Yunhuan was wedged in between the two.

His large hand was behind her to prevent her from getting hurt.

Many times, he had this kind of careful action. It wasn’t deliberate but an unconscious act of care. Often, he himself didn’t notice, and you needed to pay close attention to realize it.

Ji Yunhuan stretched out her hands, wrapped them around his neck, and hugged the man in front of her. It was obviously cold outside, but this kiss made the whole world warm.

At this moment, in his eyes, she was the only color. Everything else around was a colorless gray.

"Ah..." He buried his face in her shoulder. Ji Yunhuan held his neck tightly, listening to his heavy breathing, knowing she was no better off.

"Why did you suddenly come over? Without telling me. Did you want to scare me?" After a while, Ji Yunhuan calmed down and asked him.

"If I didn’t come, would you have thought of visiting me?" His voice was filled with discontent. "And, when you’re alone, why is your alertness so poor? I was in the yard the whole time, and you didn’t see me."

"I..." It was because she had been thinking of him that she was distracted.

Otherwise, he couldn’t have startled her.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t argue and let him scold her.

Only then did she realize that when two people are together, even if they quarrel, it’s a kind of happiness compared to prolonged separation.

Qi Cheng didn’t scold her much. After all, he couldn’t bear to. He let her go. "Open the door."

Ji Yunhuan came out of his arms, turned on her phone, and searched for the key that had fallen on the ground with the light, then opened the door.
