Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin -

Chapter 104: Chapter 104 Sleepless Night_1
Ji Yunhuan looked into the distance, not saying a word.
Qi Cheng quietly said, "I know, you care deeply for Chenchen and desperately want to protect him. That’s why you can’t tolerate Su Zi. But, in this world, many people do certain things because they have no other choice. Su Zi is just a child and sometimes acts impulsively. It may not be a bad thing for Chenchen to have Su Zi like him. You can’t deny her entirely because of one impulsive mistake. After all, you yourself said that Chenchen likes her. You have to consider Chenchen’s feelings."
Ji Yunhuan glanced at Qi Cheng. "Su Zi hates me, doesn’t she? How could she possibly like Chenchen? From the very beginning, it seems like I didn’t do anything, yet she already hated me to the point of wanting to harm Chenchen. Even now, she doesn’t hide her dislike for me at all. Qi Cheng, how do you expect me to try to understand her?"
The feeling of being hated was not good.
Qi Cheng saw her stubbornness and finally just sighed helplessly.
He always felt that if he continued, she would dislike him too.
With a bit of helplessness, he said, "This is just my view. Think about it yourself. I’ve never wanted to impose my thoughts on you."
After saying this, he left.
At dinner, there was no Su Zi, only Qi Cheng and Ji Yunhuan. Neither of them spoke; they just ate their food in silence.
Ji Yunhuan could feel that he was angry.
They had only been married for two days, and these two days had been filled with anger over Su Zi. It was somewhat laughable.
"I’m full. Take your time," he said, putting down his bowl and standing up.
When Ji Yunhuan looked up, he had already turned away, ready to leave. She didn’t even get a clear look at his face.
Qi Cheng’s concern over Su Zi was not purely out of pity for her; it was also about himself.
He feared that if Ji Yunhuan ever found out about the things he had done, she would hate him just as much.
So, when she was so angry over Su Zi, he really didn’t know how to face Ji Yunhuan.
At night, Ji Yunhuan lay in bed after her bath. Qi Cheng still had not come over. After dinner, he had locked himself in the study next door, busy with something.
Only the doctor had gone in once to check on him.
He was injured and should have rested early. Usually, she would have called him, but in this tense atmosphere, she didn’t know how to back down. She lay in bed, staring at the ceiling in a daze.
Eleven o’clock. Twelve o’clock. One o’clock...
Just like that, a night passed. She hadn’t slept well, and when she woke up, he still hadn’t come back.
It turned out that two people who didn’t love each other could quickly fall apart even after a brief period of harmony because of some events.
Disappointment and loss coexisted, making her heart feel weighed down. She pulled the blanket over her head, covering her eyes that didn’t know how to close anymore.
She didn’t know how long she had slept. When Ji Yunhuan woke up, a small head was cuddling beside her, watching her with wide eyes.
Ji Yunhuan blinked, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings.
When she clearly saw the small head by the bed, she quickly became more awake. "Leilei?"
"You’re such a lazy pig, Aunt. It’s so late, and you’re still sleeping," Leilei said with a look of disdain.
Ji Yunhuan sat up, "Why did you come over, silly girl?"
"I came with Grandma. She asked me to come up and see how long you were planning to sleep," Leilei said with a mischievous look.
Hearing that it was Qi Cheng’s mother, Ji Yunhuan felt a headache. On the wedding day, Qi’s mother had already been very angry with her. Now seeing her wake up so late...
She felt extremely awkward and quickly got up, heading to the bathroom to wash up quickly.
After holding Leilei’s hand and walking downstairs, Qi’s mother was sitting on the sofa, and Qi Cheng was also there. When she saw her, Qi’s mother frowned but did not speak.
Qi Yunhuan felt a burning sensation on her face from the glance. She walked over and said quietly, "Mom."
She had thought that Qi’s mother would scold her, but Qi’s mother didn’t say a word, making her feel even more embarrassed. She sat awkwardly beside Qi Cheng and said to Qi’s mother, "I didn’t know you guys were coming, so I woke up late. I’m really sorry."
Qi’s mother saw how uneasy Ji Yunhuan was and knew that she was still afraid of her because of that slap. But as an elder, she had no reason to apologize. She just asked, "Did you two quarrel?"
"No," Qi Cheng replied.
Qi’s mother fixed her eyes on Ji Yunhuan as if she did not care about Qi Cheng’s response.
Ji Yunhuan looked up at her and said, "Why do you ask that, Mother?"
"If not, why did Qi Cheng sleep in the study last night?"
Qi’s mother’s question made Ji Yunhuan tense up.
Ji Yunhuan kept her head down, not knowing how to answer. Qi Cheng instinctively started to scrutinize the servants in the room, trying to see who the informer was. Qi’s mother said, "Don’t bother looking. If you have a clear conscience, you won’t worry if someone tells me your business. Or you can try to replace all the servants here."
Qi Cheng said helplessly, "I had work last night."
"Work?" Qi’s mother turned to Ji Yunhuan, "Qi Cheng is sick. As his wife, you didn’t persuade him to sleep early and let him work all night?"
"Mom, don’t put everything on her. I’m a grown man. I know what I’m doing," Qi Cheng defended Ji Yunhuan.
He didn’t want anyone to know that indeed, they had a falling-out last night.
Qi’s mother said, "It’s your wife you’re talking about. If she can’t manage you, then why did you marry her?"
"No one in this world can manage me."
"If you want to protect her, you have to consider her when you act. You know I can’t bear to scold you," Qi’s mother said intentionally.
Qi Cheng rubbed his forehead. "Yes, yes, you are great. I admit defeat, okay?"
He looked at Ji Yunhuan. "You take Leilei to have breakfast. I need to talk to Mom."
Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi’s mother, deliberately ignoring the fact that she had just been reprimanded. "I’ll wait for you to finish and eat together."
Qi Cheng said, "No need, I’ve already eaten, and so has Mom."
In front of Qi’s mother, he was very gentle with Ji Yunhuan.
Ji Yunhuan took Leilei to the dining room. The servant had already prepared the food for her. It was all to her liking, most likely arranged by Qi Cheng.
Ji Yunhuan thought Qi Cheng was angry and wouldn’t care about her anymore, but it turned out he was still thinking about her in every detail.
Leilei sat down beside Ji Yunhuan. Ji Yunhuan helped her with her napkin and asked, "Why aren’t you in class today, Leilei?"
She looked troubled. "I don’t want to go to class."
"Uh... where are your parents?" Big brother and sister-in-law should be taking care of her, right?
"They’re not home. They don’t care."
