JOHN

"H-Hey Ginny." I manage a strained smile as I pocket my phone.

"It’s really nice to see you here, John." Ginny smiles and approaches our table.

Steve looks up from his hot chocolate to Ginny. "Who is it, brother?" He blinks in confusion.

"She...is an old friend." I lie.

Ginny is actually my ex. We used to date when we were in high school. She has a big role in making Erwin and me best friends. Ginny was my first love but she cheated on me with Erwin. I used to be a nerd in high school so Ginny didn’t want us to publicize our relationship. Erwin didn’t know that Ginny was taken this is why he fooled around with Ginny. Ginny on the other hand knew too well how Erwin was but still approached him and cheated on me.

Erwin and I weren’t in the same class which is why I didn’t know anything about this. Ginny dated me while making out with Erwin. I eventually found out about it and talked to Erwin about this. Erwin was disgusted hearing my words and ditched Ginny. Then I broke up with Ginny. It would have been fine if it was just this but it didn’t end there.

A few days later when I was returning from my cram school, a few guys attacked me. They were Ginny’s brothers who came after me after hearing that I broke her heart. I was really freaked out but then like a superhero, Erwin popped out and talked the matter out with them. They understood and apologized because of their rudeness. They left and this is the time I and Erwin started to get close.

After that Ginny quit the school and moved out of the town. I had never seen or heard from her since then. I had no idea that Ginny was back in town. When Ginny and I broke up, I was really heartbroken. I actually truly liked her. But she betrayed my trust and hooked up with another man behind my back.

"May I take a seat?" Ginny asks, referring to the side opposite my seat where Steve is slurping on his drink while watching us intently.

"Steve, come here," I call Steve to free up the space and let Ginny sit.

Steve complies obediently. I scooch aside to let Steve sit. Ginny takes the seat before me.

"Thank you." Ginny says with a mild smile, "You have changed a lot since I last saw you."

"I know, I have." My fingers curl into fists as tension swarms in and out of my bloodstream and muscles. "So, you are back in the town."

"I am doing my internship here. What about you?" She inclines her head to Steve slightly, curiosity gleaming in her brown eyes, "Is this your son?"

I chuckle and put my hand on Steve’s head, ruffling his dark hair. "I know he looks like me but no, unfortunately, he is not my son. He is my younger brother. His name is Steve."

"Oh, my bad." Ginny apologizes, "So, you are settled here?"

"Yeah, with my boyfriend." I smile.

Ruth is particularly staying with me as he never goes to his own home and always comes to my place directly. He never calls his place home. But he calls mine home. So we basically live together. And we enjoy it to the fullest.

"Oh, you have a boyfriend now?" Ginny seems really surprised, "I thought you were only interested in girls. It’s quite a surprise. Is he an omega?"

"No, he is an alpha." I shake my head and Ginny’s eyes widen further.

"Oh, an alpha you say..." Ginny hesitates a little then asks quietly, "Is it Erwin?"

My eyebrows jump in surprise at her words, "Hey, no!" I exclaim, "There is no way it’s Erwin."

"I am really sorry." She instantly apologies at my reaction, "I was just wondering as I heard that you two were pretty close."

"We still are." I shake my head. "But didn’t you watch the news?"

"The news?" Then it appears that something dawned on her, "Oh yes! Erwin is married to a CEO omega, named Leo Snow, isn’t he? There has been news about this couple all over the channels lately."

"Yeah." I agree with her, "I still sometimes can’t believe that Erwin is married and to someone like Leo."

"Yeah." Ginny nods in agreement, "Time really flies by. It seems like yesterday when we two were together..." And she realizes what she has just said aloud.

I sift in my seat uncomfortably, "Umm, Ginny..."

"Oh God, I am really sorry, John." She stammers, "I didn’t mean to say it like that! I am really sorry. All that happened years ago was all my fault. I never meant to hurt you. I was really naive to do what I did. I was so ashamed that I quit the school."

"It’s okay, Ginny." I get on my feet, not wanting to drag this conversation any further, "I will have to go now."

"I am sorry..." She apologizes again, "I never really..." She trails off but quickly pulls herself together, "Yeah I understand. Maybe we could get some coffee together? I live around here."

"No, Ginny." I say politely, "I don’t think I will be able to meet you again. My boyfriend wouldn’t like it. And I am not really..." I give her very subtle hints.

And she takes them, "Oh, I understand." She quickly grabs her purse and gets on her heels, "I am really sorry to make you uncomfortable. Now and back then. I wish I didn’t do what I did in the past. I will be taking my leave now John."

I don’t say anything as I see her exit the shop. My shoulders drop slightly as I breathe in relief. I never want to see this girl again. She makes it hard to breathe around her. I felt like something had my heart in its grip and it wouldn’t let it go.

I feel a sudden tug and look down. Steve is looking at me with his dark black eyes, "What is it, Steve?"

"Are you okay brother?" He asks with his tiny voice, "You are sweating."

I subconsciously touch my forehead and feel the dampness on it, "I am fine. It’s just a little hot here."

Steve looks like he wants to say something but he holds himself back, "Oh. My hot chocolate is finished, brother."

I smile and ruffle his hair, "Do you want to go home now?" He nods cutely. "Let’s go then."

I flop down on the couch in the living room. I have put Steve on the bed and now waiting for Ruth. He hasn’t texted me since the evening after Ginny showed up at the shop. I wonder what he is doing.

My insomnia has been better since last time as I can sleep with Ruth. I think it’s a jinx. Because I can’t sleep without having sex with Ruth and he too seems to have noticed that. But He doesn’t say a word about it. He usually comes back home plays with Steve, cuddles with me, and then when Steve falls asleep he fuck me until I fall asleep.

When he is free he takes us out on an outing. Buy me and Steve things. He is really a sweet boyfriend to have. And I like how warm and cozy his hugs are.

Ruth tends to be very clingy from time to time. And I don’t mind it at all. He loves me and adores Steve this is all I can ask for.

The front door clicks open and Ruth enters the room. He is still wearing his hospital scrubs. I approach him.

"Welcome home." I smile.

He doesn’t rely and particularly drops over me. I stagger a little to support his weight. He wraps his hands around my waist and nuzzles his face in the crook of my neck.

"Long shift?" I ask as I draw small soothing circles on his back, "Are you that tired Ruth?"

"Sixteen hours shift again," Ruth grumbles, his voice low with exhaustion and his lids heavy with sleep.

I chuckle, "Seems like you had a tough day. Would you like some coffee?" I offer.

"Do you plan to keep me up just like you?" Ruth pouts, "I would rather have your lips instead."

I blush slightly, "You sure know how to make me all flustered."

"I like it when you are a blushing mess when you moan my name, and when you fall asleep beneath me with me still inside you." He smirks and I turn redder.

"Shut up." I stutter.

"Is Steve in his bed?" Ruth changes the subject almost abruptly.

"Yeah, I just put him in the bed." I pause, "What did you want to tell me earlier when you texted me?"

"Oh, I wanted to tell you that Joe will be coming to Leo’s party as he is not going home for Christmas this year," Ruth informs.

"That’s it?" I pout slightly, "I thought you were gonna say something important and I couldn’t get your text out of my head because of that."

Ruth snorts and pinches my nose, "Let me finish first. We are going home with him for this new year."

"What?"

"Yep."
