Married To A CEO. Omega
Chapter 56 - Forty-Eight

Chapter 56: Chapter Forty-Eight

ERWIN

No one is actually touching their food at the dinner table. Everyone is playing with their food including me and Leo. Leo has lost his appetite after the kidnapping thing and I can’t bring myself to eat anything while he is not touching his food properly.

John is playing with a fork and making small conversation with Liu Feng’s assistant while the two CEOs discuss business and Joe bore a hole through my head with his blazing glare. Ruth’s head is hanging low. I wonder what happened to this guy. He is usually so enthusiastic that it’s annoying.

And I don’t especially like the way this Liu guy is looking at my omega. I want to gouge his eyes and cut his pretty mouth with the knife in my clutch right here and now. But I keep my anger in check. I don’t want to make the night bloody if it’s not necessary. I don’t want to cause any trouble for Leo. He mentioned that this client of his is important, now he wouldn’t have invited him to the dinner party which is supposed to be a very private gathering.

Steve is seated across from me. Quietly chewing on his food and looking round with hungry eyes.

"Do you need anything, Steve?" I ask softly, leaning a little toward him.

He shakes his head, "Nothing."

"Okay." I straighten up, trying my best not to meet Joe’s gaze. Only Christ knows what this omega is thinking.

I thought that Joe went to his family home in Canada. But why did he suddenly pop up here? Did Ruth purposefully do that? Seems so. But it is good in another way. I have been meaning to tell Leo about Joe for a while now. But I couldn’t find any opening to ask him about it. So, now that Joe is here I can explain the situation to Leo.

Though it is still unnerving that Leo is occasionally casting brief glances toward Joe and Joe is taking them without wincing. I know that if there are any mistakes, I will be cooked.

After the suffocating dinner which no one actually ate properly everyone settles for a chit chat. Steve in Leo’s lap fiddling with his crystal necklaces. I narrow my eyes to peer over the little finger from Leo’s side. And jealousy flares in my chest.

Wish I was small.

After a while, I feel a low ache slithering up my temple. All these business chats are making me sick. And this bastard John isn’t paying me an ounce of attention as he keeps blabbing shits with that Chinese guy. I sniffle as I get on my feet. My butt has gone numb from sitting here all the way.

I could never be a business man with this impatient self of mine.

"Are you going somewhere, Erwin?" Leo asks.

"I am fetching some water for myself from the kitchen." I lean and Leo takes the hint, so he tilts his face for me to kiss. I kiss his cheek warmly, "Will be here in a minute."

I didn’t notice but when my lips touched Leo’s cheek, Liu Feng’s eyes narrowed into slits.

I stride toward the kitchen. I hate being here. I wanted to have a peaceful Sunday with Leo and enjoy a good time with him. And this client just had to splash water in my well-made plan. I groan underneath my breath as I take out the jar of cold water from the fridge and slam the door close with more-than-necessary force. I spin around, grumbling but I pause in surprise.

"What are you doing here, Joe?" I raise an eyebrow, a snarl taking over my expression, "if you are here to talk about the night one year ago then I just have only one thing to say to you. Just move on already. It was an act done in the moment of impulse. I wasn’t thinking consistently. I apologize for it."

"You are right, I want to talk with you about that night." Joe starts. His voice as minty as ever, "But it is not what you are thinking. I moved on from that night very long ago. I just wanted to say my apologies. I am sorry that you were beaten up by my brother when it wasn’t even your fault. I am sincerely sorry for that." He bows his head slightly.

"Hey, hey!" I retort, "You don’t need to say sorry for anything at all! It was just an unfortunate incident! You are making me awkward." I wave nervously.

"I have another thing to ask you." Joe straightens up, his tone stern, "Are you messing with Leo?"

My heart clenches. "What do you mean?" Thin lines appear between my eyebrows.

"I mean are you playing with Leo just like the other girls from school?" Joe repeats himself. "If you are then I will be the next one to kick your ass. Leo is the strongest omega I have ever met. He has been through a lot. I can’t see him getting hurt again. It’s fine what happened a year ago. It was an accident but I will never forgive you if you hurt Leo. He seems drawn to you."

I snort, "Do you think so?" Then my expression softens. "I hope so. It doesn’t matter if you forgive me or not. If I hurt Leo then I will never be able to forgive myself. After all, he is the man I love."

Joe stalls, his eyes are round in surprise. He never anticipated this kind of reply from me. "Y-You love Leo? Really?" He asks, suspicion evident in his green sage eyes. Clearly he doesn’t believe me. Not that I care in the least bit.

"Yes..." Leo’s lovely face flashes over my eyes and a small smile spreads across my face.

"Oh God, Erwin!" Joe gasps in disbelief, "I can’t believe it! Does Leo know about this?"

"I told him." I nod.

"Did he give you an answer?" Joe asks further.

I shake my head, "No. Not yet."

"Oh dear." Joe breaths, "Can I hug you?"

I contemplate whether I should hug him or not. But to show him that I am really sorry for the things that happened in the past, I agree to hug him, "Okay."

Joe gives me a warm embrace. A gratitude and respectful hug. He lets me go and I spot a movement from the corner of my eyes. My head shoots toward the direction of the door where I just spot that unclear silhouette.

"Anything wrong?" Joe asks, his brows crease as he examines my alarmed expression.

"No," I shake my head, "we should go back now. You go ahead, I will follow suit."

He nods in acknowledgement, "Okay." He walks out of the kitchen.

I am damn sure that I saw something peeking at us from behind the thick pillar. Who was it? Someone who will possibly cause problems for me and Leo?

I shouldn’t have let Joe hug me in the first place.

I reenter the living area. Examining every person here, looking for any amiss in their expression but there is nothing.

Was it just a servant?

After a while when the night starts to get late Leo and I warm up for the farewells. My favorite and most longed for part.

"See you around, John." I pat his shoulder, "And you should look for another woman to wind up." I wink playfully.

John just gives me a weak smile before scurrying off with Steve. Leo didn’t really get any chance to talk with John but I think John had a good time with that Chinese guy and Joe. He seems a bit more lightened up than before. Meanwhile, Ruth is as gloomy as ever. I even asked Joe about it. He just shrugged his shoulders and said he didn’t know.

Now it’s time to say goodbye to that smart ass Liu fucking Feng. I am internally already rejoicing.

"I will see you around then Mr. Snow." He leans and grabs Leo’s hand and it takes all of me from punching that pretty face of his. I grimace. "Please come to my party this Wednesday. I will look forward to it." Then he does something that makes my blood boil with fury. He kisses the back of Leo’s hand.

Leo awkwardly smiles and slips his hand from Liu Feng’s clutch, "I will try my best to attend your party, president Liu."

After bidding farewell, Leo spins around, rubbing his hand with a napkin. But it doesn’t satisfy me in the least.

I cross my arms over my chest and ask with a not-at-all-in-a-good-mood expression, "What was that?"

"What was what?" Leo counters, even after knowing the meaning behind my words.

"Why did he kiss you?"

"Why did he hug you?"

I blink. Leo blinks. Before I burst out laughing and Leo flushing blood-red. "Leo, so it was you?" I wipe the tear away from the corner of my eye as I hold my stomach.

"What?!" Leo barks embarrassedly, "Why are you laughing?! I just followed Joe into the kitchen because...because..." He trails off, lowering his eyes.

"Because you felt something wasn’t right, right?" I stop laughing and pull him into a light soothing embrace.

Then I explain all the things that happened between Ruth, Joe and me. And Leo understands. "So it was an accident?"

I nod, chin resting on Leo’s head and his arms wrapped around my waist lightly. He breaths in relief.

"Then this is okay." He smiles, lifting head from my chest.

"But it isn’t alright, that man kissed your hand." I wince.

"Sorry." Leo blinks innocently.

"It’s okay." I answer almost immediately and Leo grins.

I guess I just got another love rival from now on. But that’s okay. Because Leo is always mine no matter what the situation is. And I am more than content with it.
