Chapter 26: Chapter Twenty-Four
ERWIN
"Erwin, you did a good job, doing all this in one night." Lia praises, surprised and happy at the same time. "You guys should learn something from him." She rebukes the other two group members, Henry and Tanya.
"He he, can you seriously compare us to someone as genius as Erwin, Lia?" Henry scratches the back of his head.
"He is right, Lia!" Tanya agrees.
"But at least you guys can try!" Lia cripes the sighs, "Fine, at least do what you guys are assigned to." She is exasperated.
"Yes leader!" The two trouble makers acknowledge and dive into their laptop’s screen.
This is the group I am assigned to for the group project this semester. Henry, Lia, Tanya and I. The professor assigned them to me in the hope that the troublemakers like Henry and Tanya will learn something from me. But whenever I talk to those dumbasses, I feel like I am about to lose my shits. Just how can a person be this dense and dumb? And here is Lia, The mother of our group. She doesn’t have that many good grades but still she has a very strong sense of personality. I am thankful that here is Lia to handle these two trouble makers nor I have already killed both of them.
"Hey Erwin, do you think it is alright?" Lia breaks the silence at the table and turns on her computer to show me her research paper, "I think there is a problem here."
And this is Lia’s problem. That she is very bad at studies. I don’t know how she even managed to get into a college like this.
"Let me see..." I lean forward to check her research report, "I think you got this information wrong." I point the mistake out to her.
"Thank you!" She thanks me sincerely.
I just shake my head in reply. The other two watch us from the other side of the square table and I deliberately ignore their gazes.
"Hey Erwin!" Henry calls out to me, "Is Leo coming for the ball?"
"No." I don’t look at him as I reply.
"Why not? Everyone is bringing their dates." Tanya presses, "It will look bad if you, the hot topic of the campus, don’t bring his husband for the event."
"Leo is a busy man. He doesn’t have time to fool around with me." I say dismissively even though they are right.
"Aww." The two troublemakers are disappointed.
John said that he wants to come to the ball, means I am coming too. So, if I don’t bring any date then it will be problem and if I do bring a date and they are not Leo then I screwed. But I haven’t even told Leo about the ball night yet. Will he be able to spare some time for me?
"Umm Erwin, if Leo is not coming then can I..." Lia starts nervously, fiddling with her fingers under the table.
But I cut her in as I abruptly close my laptop, "Lia, I just remembered something very important. So, can you please handle the rest? And I think I have already covered my portion of work." I grab my jacket and get on my feet.
"O-Oh, okay!" Lia tries to hide her disappointment with her forced smile.
"Thank you." In spite of saying so, I don’t really feel thankful to them, at all.
I am fed up with them.

"So this is where Leo works." I mumble to myself as I find myself in awe of this beautiful architecture.
I am currently standing in front of Leo’s company, watching it top to bottom. I don’t even know why I am here but for some reason I am. My feet just brought me here. This morning I woke up earlier than Leo since I had morning classes to attend to. So, I couldn’t say anything to Leo before I left. So, maybe I am missing Leo a little...just a little, that’s it.
I walk over to the reception. The woman in the reception instantly greets me with utmost formality. "Mr. Warner."
Just the question: ’How do you know me?’ is about to slip out of my mouth, I gulp them down. Am I an idiot? Isn’t it obvious? Of course she knows me. Even at least half the population of this continent now knows who I am. Leo Snow’s husband.
"I want to meet Leo." I demand politely.
"Well, the president is still attending the board meeting." The receptionist informs, "It may take some time before he returns."
I am just about to tell her that it’s okay and I will leave. She beats me to it by proposing, "Would you like to wait for him in his office?"
And without thinking twice I answer, "Of course, the pleasure is mine." I grin and the woman blushes.
I thank her and step toward the lift. I follow the directions she gave me to find Leo’s office. Every single person in the hall turns their heads to my direction as I walk down the hall, surprise written all over their faces.
At last I find his office and push through the black wooden door. Leo’s office is very specious. It is themed pink just like his hair. The couches are squared around a small glass coffee table in the middle of the room and a big desk is placed at the end of the room. It is well organized and well maintained. The whole room gives off the air of wealth and elegance. But the best part about the room is the stench. Leo’s office has the faint scent of his pheromones though they are not as strong as his bedroom.
I settle down on one of his couches. They are just as pink as his hair. That makes me wonder if his favorite color is baby pink. He appears to wear that colored clothes very often. Why did I never notice that?
To make myself comfortable I lean back on the couch, cross my legs and then pull my phone out of my pocket. John texted me a few minutes ago, so I unlock the screen and reply to his text.
JOHN: Where are you? I can’t find you inside the campus.
John and I are in different departments, so sometimes our schedules get a bit different then each other. Just like today, I had morning classes and he had noon. So, we didn’t get to meet up on campus.
ERWIN: My classes ended earlier, so I got out.
JOHN: You gotta be kidding me. I am waiting for you at our usual spot! You said, you’d be here!
ERWIN: Sorry. Today is Leo’s board meeting, so I thought it would be good checking up on him.
JOHN: Wait, where are you?
Even if I can’t see his face through the phone I can clearly see that disbelieving expression on his face. I chuckle at the thought of it.
ERWIN: Leo’s office.
JOHN: What are you doing there? Repenting for the deed you committed last time?
ERWIN: More or less.
I can clearly see him sigh in my mind.
JOHN: Anyway, are you coming over today?
ERWIN: Maybe.
JOHN: Give me an accurate answer, bastard.
ERWIN: I will tell you when I ask Leo. Wait, I think he has returned. I will text you later.
I can hear some heavy footsteps approaching. They are most likely Leo’s and his dog-sorry assistant’s. But there is something wrong with the footsteps. They are hurried and angry. Very unlike Leo. His movements are usually swift and languid.
Is he pissed about something? Did the meeting not go well?
Just as I am coursing through hundreds and thousands of reasons why he is pissed, the polished wooden door swings open. Leo halts at the threshold, stunned. Kevin stands behind him, his expression weary and tense.
"Leo." I stand up from the couch and regard him with a smile he deserves. A small warm sensation in my chest appears at the moment he appears before my eyes.
"Erwin?" Leo snaps out of his stunned phase, "What are you doing here?"
Even Leo is surprised for the moment, the disappointment and anger haven’t completely disappeared from his face.
"Just wanted to see you." I walk over to him, "Is that alright?" I lean down a little to level his gaze.
His cheeks turn slightly pink, "It’s okay. But you should have informed me first about your arrival."
"My bad." I flash my signatured grin.
"Kevin, you can go now and don’t call me for a while. I need to cool my head down." Leo dismisses Kevin.
"Yes, president." He acknowledges before stepping out of the room to shut the door behind him. He looks really pissed at the abrupt dismissal.
"Do you want anything?" Leo offers, "Coffee or tea?"
"No." I take Leo’s hand, squeeze it lightly and look him in the eyes, "Are you okay? What happened in the meeting?"
Leo’s sharp, void of emotion eyes soften a little at this. He slowly shakes his head, "It didn’t go well. I couldn’t manage to take the chairman’s seat. They said that to claim that position I must have a child. So, Leon was made the acting chairman until then."
I pull Leo into a hug. It is sudden that Leo yelps in surprise.
"What are you doing?" He whispers against my chest, too exhausted to start an argument with me.
"You looked like you needed it." I murmur in his ears, then after a pause I ask, "Leo, do you want to go somewhere?"
Leo lifts his head from the embrace, "Where?" He blinks.
God he is so cute!
I lower my head a bit more to smooch his lips slightly, then answer, "To see a child."
