Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' -
Chapter 416: You Satisfied Me!
Chapter 416: You Satisfied Me!
Just like in the dream, the kiss was long and warm, with a heat that made her face flush and her heart race as it trailed lower.
Seeing the dream about to repeat itself in real life, Selina quickly pushed him away.
"It’s late—I’m going to sleep!"
Logan paused but didn’t stop her. He watched as she bolted under the covers, turned off the light, all in one breath. He didn’t look angry at all.
"Mm. I guessed right."
Selina didn’t want to know what he’d "guessed right," so she clamped her hands over her ears.
Logan frowned, worry in his voice. "What kind of dream would make you act like this? Do I—"
"You satisfy me! You satisfy me!" Selina blurted in a panic, terrified he’d say something gross like ’do I not satisfy you normally?’
Logan: "..."
He hadn’t even gotten to ’do I hurt you usually?’ when Selina squeezed her eyes shut and practically yelled like she was about to be executed.
He fell silent for a long moment, then gently tugged the blanket over her.
...Clearly, it was best to keep conversation to a minimum when she’d just woken up.
...
Elsewhere, at the Reid Family’s old house—
It was 11:30 at night.
Luke was sprawled on the living room couch playing video games, eating fruit, and shouting at his teammates.
Amelia and Owen walked in and immediately saw him. Amelia’s anger spiked.
"Do you know what time it is? Still making noise? You’re just like Logan—always trying to piss me off!"
She was furious these days about losing Anna’s inheritance. Luke didn’t bother to comfort her or try to cause Logan trouble. Seeing him looking so carefree, like none of it concerned him, made her even madder.
Luke didn’t even pause his game. He blinked at her in surprise.
"Huh? Mom, I’m just playing a game. How’s that pissing you off? Don’t you want me to stay home playing games?"
After all, staying home playing games made sure Grandpa Reid saw him as an "unmotivated, good-for-nothing playboy." Wasn’t that Amelia’s whole plan—ruining him so everyone thought Owen was the only one capable?
He was doing exactly what she wanted—so why was she mad now?
Amelia heard the sarcasm under his words and started shaking with rage.
"Is this how you talk to your mother?!"
Luke blinked innocently.
"Nope. Okay then, I’ll stop playing."
"You—" That slippery, unbothered attitude made her so furious she had nowhere to direct it. She stomped her foot hard and stormed upstairs.
Luke just went right back to sprawling on the couch.
Owen, with his fake concerned tone, said: "Little brother, you really ought to help support the family business instead of just playing around."
Luke didn’t even look at him.
"Second brother, Mom already went upstairs. Who exactly are you performing for? There’s no camera in the living room, so cut the act. Don’t make yourself sick."
"And anyway, if I did go work in the company, what would be left for you to do? You’ve been there three years and it’s been losing money for two and a half. You’re a real curse, you know that? But me? They call me the lucky star."
"Luke!" Owen’s face turned bright red. He hadn’t expected Luke to be so vicious—and so shameless. "I’m saying this for your own good!"
"Sure, sure," Luke drawled lazily. "You’re doing it for my own good. Then why don’t you hand over the inheritance to me?"
Owen felt completely mocked. "You want the inheritance? Do you even know how to run a company? Grandpa just gave me the HMAE company today!"
Luke smirked. "Wow, you’re so excited you came all the way here just to brag about getting HMAE? How classy. Oh, by the way—HMAE is the company Logan didn’t even want. You’re really good at picking up his trash. I guess there’s a kind of skill in that. Who says a garbage man can’t be a hero?"
Owen nearly had a heart attack. "You... I’m still better than you, you useless leech who only knows how to beg the family for money!"
Luke nodded seriously. "Ah, right, right. I’m trash, anyone who asks the family for money is trash. If you’re not trash, don’t take any."
Then he yelled toward the upstairs. "Grandpa! Owen says he doesn’t want this year’s company dividends!"
"LUKE!" Owen was practically jumping in rage.
Luke calmly ended his game, looking very pleased, and glanced at Owen.
"A few words and you’re already this worked up? Come on, second brother, you really need to work on your stress tolerance. You’re not gonna survive like this. Good thing we’re family. Anyone else wouldn’t bother being this polite—they wouldn’t call you a heroic trash collector, they’d just call you top-tier garbage. Got it?"
Then Luke swaggered off, went to the garage, picked a car, and peeled out of the Reid Family estate.
Owen was left alone in the living room so furious he was about to explode but with no one to vent at.
"Ahhhh! Luke, Logan! Those two bastards!"
...
The next morning, Selina woke up groggy.
Last night’s embarrassing "behavior" slammed back into her brain uninvited.
...Thinking she was dreaming, tying up Logan, mouthing off, putting her hands all over him.
She was so dead.
Logan opened his eyes and glanced at her. Selina forced a fake smile after a long moment.
"Uh... want to sleep a little longer?"
He answered slowly, "I’m not tired. But you..."
He paused, then let out a quiet laugh.
"Did I satisfy you last night?"
Selina: "..."
She slapped a hand over her face.
She wanted to die. Seriously.
She scrambled to wash up and escape downstairs as quickly as possible, but halfway down the stairs she heard video game sounds.
On the sofa was Luke, grinning at his phone and trash-talking into his mic.
"..." Was she still dreaming?
"Selina! You’re up!" Luke shut off the game and blinked at her with big innocent puppy eyes.
"It’s already nine-thirty. You and Logan sure slept in. What were you two doing last night?"
Miller the butler tripped over his own feet.
Selina went silent for a long moment, staring at Luke’s ridiculously guileless eyes. She couldn’t even come up with an answer.
Was this... the deadly power of a single man?
She cleared her throat and changed the subject.
"What are you doing here?"
Luke said breezily, "Got kicked out, obviously. Last night around eleven I was gaming in the living room. My mom caught me, Owen was being all passive-aggressive, so I left."
Selina raised her eyebrows. "Amelia didn’t get Anna’s inheritance, so she’s lashing out at you? Poor little dumb puppy."
Luke launched a new match on his phone. "Whatever. I’ve been yelled at more times than Owen’s ever made money."
Selina: "..."
Damn. Savage.
She was curious. "Luke... when did you get so sharp-tongued?"
The dumb puppy used to just straight-up call people idiots. Now he’d mastered passive-aggressive insults?
"Huh? Is it hard? Maybe it’s from all the games I’ve been playing lately. My teammates are amazing at trash talk. I love it."
Selina nodded thoughtfully. "Fair. But I thought you didn’t like mobile games?" Especially these 5v5 competitive ones. She remembered Luke used to avoid them.
Luke’s eyes lit up. "Oh! That’s because my teammates keep complimenting me, so I stuck with it!"
Selina was taken aback. "They compliment you? What do they say?"
Luke’s voice rang out cheerfully. "They say I play like an elementary school kid! Look at that—I’m practically ten years younger!"
("like an elementary school kid" = code for playing terribly)
Selina: "..."
Was he sure that was a compliment about being young?
She sucked in a horrified breath and hurriedly reached out to feel his forehead.
No fever...
Logan came downstairs just in time to hear that line.
...This brother was a lost cause.
