Chapter 387: The Roundhouse Kick!
Chapter 387: The Roundhouse Kick!
Chapter 387
"So... what now?" Grey asked with a raised brow.
"I’m going to be teaching you the Cyclone Kick now. Let’s begin." Yami smirked, now standing directly in front of Grey.
"So how do we start?" Grey asked, cracking his knuckles eagerly.
"By learning the basics of kicking," Yami chuckled.
"What do you mean? Come on. Kicking is kicking. Isn’t this how to do it?" Grey asked, leaping back and swinging his leg out in a wide arc.
"Point of correction—kicking isn’t just kicking. There are different types, and one of them is crucial for mastering this technique," Yami replied as Grey stepped forward a bit.
"Fine. You’re the master. Do your will." Grey sighed.
"Good. Now, I’m going to teach you the roundhouse kick. That’s the foundation you need to learn the Cyclone Kick." Yami created some distance between them and gestured for Grey to come stand beside him.
Grey obeyed, moving to stand just a metre away, his eyes fixed on Yami, watching every movement closely.
Yami took a stance: feet shoulder-width apart, his dominant leg slightly behind, hands raised to protect his face.
He lifted his rear leg, pivoted smoothly on the ball of his front foot, and twisted his hips in sync, whipping his leg around in a fluid arc.
A powerful whoosh sliced through the air, followed by a loud crack as his shin struck part of the mountain, splitting it slightly.
"Woah!" Grey exclaimed in shock, staring at the small, freshly-made hole in the mountain wall.
"Yikes! I must’ve used too much strength." Yami shrugged, then turned to Grey. "Anyway, it’s your turn."
"Okay... How do I do that exactly?" Grey asked, stepping back into position.
"First, take a stance with your feet shoulder-width apart," Yami instructed. Grey adjusted his footing quickly. "Now, place your dominant leg slightly behind. Raise your hands to guard your face."
Grey nodded and followed the instructions carefully.
"Good. Now pivot your front foot out—yes, just like that. Open your hips. No pivot means no power, and worse—you’ll be begging for a knee injury."
Grey turned his front foot out with a grunt as his balance shifted slightly.
"Am I doing it right?" he asked, holding steady despite the awkward angle.
"Yeah, that’s solid. Now lift that back knee high. Bend it—tight. Think of it like drawing a bowstring. Your power starts there." Yami tapped his own hip to demonstrate.
Grey raised his leg slowly, tightening his core. He wobbled, teetering for a moment, but quickly steadied himself.
"Careful, Grey. Don’t want you kissing the ground." Yami laughed, teasing him.
But Grey didn’t laugh. He froze, his expression blank. Another sudden wave of headache surged through his mind, and with it came more blurry images—flashes of faces and voices echoing in a haze.
"Watch your step, Grey. Wouldn’t want you kissing the ground..."
The words echoed again, more vivid this time. That voice—it wasn’t Yami’s.
Grey blinked rapidly, trying to focus, but the images only grew hazier. He could almost see them—figures, familiar and foreign, standing before him like ghosts caught in fog.
"You okay?" Yami asked, his voice pulling Grey back to the present as he gently shook him by the shoulder.
Grey blinked again and turned to him, forcing a smile.
"Yeah... I’m fine."
’Who was that? Who said those words to me? Ah damn! Why can’t I recall anything?! I keep trying. Trying to forget whatever past I have but it just seems impossible.
The images keep flashing right in front of me and it’s annoying! Don’t freaking show me anything again if you know it won’t be clear you dumbass brain!’ Grey roared in his mind.
"Are you sure? Because it feels like you are not fine." Yami said with a worried expression on his face as he stared Grey all over.
"I’m fine. Can we continue now?" Grey asked.
Yami just sighed and then shrugged. "If you say so."
"Now—with your back knee raised high, twist your hips! Extend your leg in a clean arc—don’t swing like a club. Slice through the air!" Yami ordered.
With a sharp exhale, Grey turned his hips, letting his leg fly out in a round motion into the air almost creating a slicing sound when his leg which was planted on the ground lost balance and he slipped and fell on his backside with a loud thud.
"Curses!" Grey yelped loudly and Yami could only chuckle as he watched on.
"Yeah. For a second there, with you doing everything right, I thought you were not a human. But gladly, you failed which proved you are a human who makes mistakes." Yami cackled in a loud laughter.
"Tsk." Grey just scoffed as he stood up while rubbing his backside.
"I’m going to try again and prove you wrong. I will do it right now." Grey huffed as he took his shoulder-width stance, his breathing steady.
His gaze calm and his body relaxed without any form of tension while his eyes were fixed on Yami with a dark smile on his face.
He placed his dominant leg behind him slightly, his hands raised in front of his face, his breathing steady and flowing with the wind. His front foot pivoted out, his hips open, and then his back knee raised high.
With a sharp exhale, he twisted his hips and then with a loud bang, he extended his leg out in a clean arc that landed right on Yami’s stunned neck causing him to skid back with a stunned expression on his face.
"What was that for?!" Yami exclaimed in shock.
"Duh! I needed a kind of target to see if my kick was effective and look, it worked." Grey chuckled as he pointed at Yami’s reddened angry face.
"Tsk! Just from one lucky kick, he is suddenly happy. I dare you to do the kick ten times if you will be able to get them all right." Yami scoffed when he saw Grey take a stance, his breathing calm and steady.
"Challenge accepted." Grey calmly said and then...
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Ten resounding bangs quaked on the mountain as Grey swung his leg repeatedly unleasing the devastating roundhouse kick each time without fail, without slipping, without missing his beat.
Each kick just as strong as the last and after the tenth swing, Grey pulled his leg back and landed in a crouched stance, breathing steadily without breaking much of a sweat.
"What now?" Grey asked with a calm and collected smile on his face while Yami had his mouth wide open.
’Hope I’m not training a monster?!’ Yami thought in fright as he stared at Grey.
"Now I teach you the cyclone kick and after that, we go home." Yami replied.
