Chapter 392: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Eight: Visitors_3

Hearing this, Lynch almost lost his balance and nearly shattered the bowl in his hand. Heaven Mountain turning into Sweet Sugar Mountain, even that god named Pate might not be able to bear it.

An eagle in the sky began to descend under the cover of night, but it did not escape the mage’s notice. He put down what he was holding, gently waved his hand, and the powerful wand was in his hand.

"You all eat first; I’ll go take a look," Lynch said. "Some uninvited guests have arrived."

In the moonlight, three eagles landed on the shore, their bodies quickly enlarged, feathers slowly retracting into skin, muscles swelling, and in no time, they had transformed into human form. They looked at the small boat moored by the river. The mage was now standing at the ship’s side.

"Hello, friend," a druid greeted Lynch. "We are allies of nature, from the Sharp Teeth Forest’s Druid Sect."

Lynch studied the three individuals before him; they were all cloaked in garments woven from plant fibers, adorned with feathers from various birds. In the moonlight, the colors smeared on the druids’ cheeks emitted a glow, and necklaces of beast teeth hung around their necks. They walked barefoot over the rocky ground as if strolling on soft grass. However, Lynch was reassured seeing the druids were unarmed.

"Then come aboard, friends." A Power Wall Technique spanned between the ship and the shore, which Lynch intentionally let shine slightly, making it visible to all. "As long as you mean no harm, I welcome you."

The three men looked surprised, cautiously stepping onto this passage of white light. Their steps were light and swift, and in a few strides, they were on the deck.

"My name is Ida Eagle Head, and these are my brothers, Ida Eagle Wing and Ida Eagle Claw. We come from Sharp Teeth Forest. Young spellcaster, it is our honor to welcome you to Haisas’ territory." After speaking, the three of them placed their right hands over their left chest, nodding to Lynch in respect.

"My name is Lynch, druid friends," Lynch returned the gesture with a smile and said, "As a resident of Haisas, though I haven’t returned for many years, the honor of your welcome should belong to me. May I ask what brings you here?"

"Are you a mage?" the younger Eagle Claw interjected, "I’ve never seen a druid or priest able to wield such power."

"Yes, my friend, I am a mage, which is why I haven’t returned in so many years." He carefully examined Eagle Claw’s face. "You were the one watching me from the mountain, weren’t you?"

"It was me!" Ida Eagle Claw replied. After confirming Lynch’s identity as a mage, his demeanor turned somewhat unnatural. To druids, mages were the "forerunners" of nature’s destruction in the past.

"If you’re a mage, then we..." Eagle Claw retreated a step, his body tensed, eyes fixated on Lynch as if a leopard ready to pounce on its prey.

"If I were you, I wouldn’t act rashly," Lynch said with a smile, pointing to the corner behind him. "My friend is aiming a crossbow at you, trust me, it might have a deadly poison just waiting to be unleashed."

Following the mage’s direction, the three druids then noticed Zilvra hiding in the shadows, a crossbow trained on Eagle Claw’s heart. They were all taken aback, not expecting such a stealthy character, none of them had detected her presence.

"I apologize for my brother’s actions," Ida Eagle Head said. "He was just reacting to your mage status, not to you personally."

"Perhaps," Lynch scoffed at the explanation. "But if I were injured, it would not be my ’mage status’ that would bleed but me personally. Druids, what is your purpose here?"

"Dragon," Ida Eagle Wing said crisply.

"Since when do dragons appear in Haisas?" Lynch asked, puzzled. "Since the divine war, dragons have long abandoned these lands ruined by the undead."

"Indeed, a dragon has returned to Haisas. It transformed into a great lord here and lived among humans for a long time. Recently, we discovered its tracks, followed it here, and hoped to reclaim what belongs to us druids, something that belongs to nature," Eagle Head explained. "But facing a powerful dragon is beyond us alone, and those so-called dragon-slaying knights are only good at charging at them, achieving little. I believe, as a mage, you might have better experience."

"You’ve asked the right person, I really know a great deal about dragons," Lynch laughed twice and continued. "The best way to deal with dragons is not to deal with them."

After saying this, the mage nodded to the three druids. "I can’t help you; the dragon is still beyond my capabilities. You should seek others instead." Lynch gestured outside the ship, indicating it was time for them to leave.

"No, you misunderstood, mage. We druids won’t have you face the giant dragon; such a danger is a test we should accept. I only want to inquire about knowledge of the dragon. Long ago, arcanists once tamed these sky rulers, so I thought mages could help."

Lynch pondered for a moment; the relationship between druids and mages was relatively distant but had never experienced major friction. To say there are no intersections in their world is more accurate.

"If you are just seeking some answers, I welcome druid friends to visit anytime," Lynch gestured to the deck. "There’s still plenty of space here. I hope you don’t mind."

Eagle Claw wore an unhappy expression, but his elder brother Eagle Head maintained a smile, thanking the mage.

Lynch and Zilvra returned to the cabin where a sumptuous fish feast awaited them; Van Dijk and Soka had grown a bit impatient.

"Lynch, who are they?" Zilvra asked. "If they pose a danger, I’ll take care of them and leave no trace."

"No, they’re nothing," Lynch replied. "If there were problems, I wouldn’t let them stay. Thank you, Zilvra, for going out there to protect me."

"Humph!" The drow woman waved her crossbow. "Thank me when I truly fend off an enemy for you."

The three on the deck exchanged glances, waiting until a cry of Soka choking on a fishbone rang out before they spoke.

"Brother, I always feel like mages aren’t trustworthy. They always seem a bit strange but I can’t pinpoint why," Eagle Claw said.

"The eyes, the arm," Eagle Wing supplemented.

Eagle Head nodded, looking at his brother. "You’re too impulsive; so what if he’s a mage? Although I also sensed some unnatural forces in him, he’s still our best protection from that guy." He patted his chest, feeling relieved at the hard object within. "Just a few more days, and we can leave safely."
