Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 307
Chapter 307: Chapter 307
As I worked on the method to bring true life to the planet’s inhabitants, Karl had a very different idea. He wanted to know what happens if you turn an entire world into a giant magical circle.
Back on Earth, there were legends about it even among the non supernatural mundane population. The Earth Spirit, Mother Earth, and various other names are for mystic sentience to the planet itself. It’s often linked to the ley lines, which this planet doesn’t have yet.
That’s what made Karl think it was a planet-sized magical circle. Basic sentience that rewards desired actions and attitudes is child’s play for the mage; it’s only one of the many elements of the Golem spell after all, but executing a self-perpetuating one on a planetary scale? That’s just crazy talk.
We’ve got both the time and energy available here to try it. If Karl is right, encompassing the whole planet will let the spell recover the energy expended afterward, as everyone it affects will still be within the confines of the spell.
It ends up taking both Karl and Elder working together to cast the spell. Since, despite the advantages of this creation sphere, a mage still needs to see his magical circles as he activates them until he has mastered the technique.
But on a planetary scale, you can only ever see half the spell, so a second caster is needed, working on a concert with the creator of the circle, to do the parts that the other can’t see to activate.
The final result is magnificent, a latticework of Ley Lines all over the planet, pulsing with energy and slowly forming a core
Consciousness for the planet. The four among us who can use energy in mana form are working on improving the Continents, shaping the spell to maintain them in their desired state, disregarding the climate balancing effect of the star and the planetary orbit.
Sitting with Lala in a mountain valley while I work on bringing everything to true life is a great way to pass the time. Her natural energy level keeps me motivated, drastically cutting the time Iwould have needed to discover the technique.
Instead of imbuing everything with a tiny fragment of a damaged soul, which did not work at all, we find that If I vaporize it into the air and let them breathe it in on their own, they slowly transition from undead to genuinely alive.
The first animal to make the shift is a soft white rabbit that I created for the experiments, causing Lala to dance happily around the clearing as the tiny creature nibbles at the grass in our mountain valley.
The feeling of new life brings the others, who were already feeling the change in the air as I sent half the damaged souls trapped within my soul Shrine out into the atmosphere as mist. I’m not sure if it will be enough, but we’re making two habitable planets in this system, so I’ll need the reserves if possible.
It takes time, but slowly the planet comes to life. The first rabbits to be born mark a turning point for all of our cultivation. Not just mine, though the understanding I’ve gained about the cycle of life for plants and animals is an essential Cosmic truth.
The creation of a living planet is a necessary criterion before the formation of a True Pantheon, and we can all feel the changes settle in to our bones as the world comes to life.
The magical consciousness Karl and the others have been working with Merges with the planet, not just a spell anymore, but an essential part of the world itself, and the effect is incredible. Everthing becomes more lively and vibrant, and the assembly of plants stops being a planted garden and becomes a functional ecosystem.
As much as it pains Lala, I have to introduce foxes to keep the rabbits we created to experiment on under control. The will of this world slowly changes both of them, though. Many of the rabbits gain horns to defend themselves, and the leaders of the Cunning foxes gain great intelligence, the growth of extra tails marking them as distinct from their originating species.
The second planet is less conventional, being primarily land with an interconnected network of underground seas and aquifers feeding the immense surface lakes. Lelou says that her homeworld was like that before half the water was stolen through portals, leaving fantastic caverns and Dragon weyrs at the surface with underground seas.
This attempt to bring a planet to life is much easier, and before long, we have two living planets and an entire solar system. One with ley lines, one brimming with cultivation energy.
It feels like they’re connected to our very beings, part of our essential divinity, though most of us have not yet ascended.
The consensus when we discuss the phenomenon is that while we are trapped in here, the Divine Tribulation is impossible. We’re in control of everything, so how could we be tested?
Elder Sing suggests that we need to create a tiny but stable Mortal Plane Realm. It’s the most straightforward and lowest power type of Realm, but that should make it easiest to stabilize and shift out of the Sphere.
Karl already knows the trick, the exact opposite of how he brought us here; only we will be using the power of the Realm we created here instead of the power of the Divine Plane Realm he pulled us in from.
That means putting the finishing touches on the two planets while Elder Song draws constellations of stars in the sky. He’s getting very good at that now, bringing them into a beautiful swirl with random patterns hidden in it, as well as a few gaseous nebulae.
The gas clouds and their shifting nature bring balance to his creation, and the Realm begins to form separately from the Creation Sphere.
"Do you mind if I put beings with souls here? I think it will help the shift, and I’ve got a great number of souls with me. Mostly monsters, but I’ve got Dragons, Elves, humans, orcs, and Titans. Everything we’ve killed or seen killed." I suggest.
"The second planet is all cultivation energy, so why not make it a hunting ground? All Dragons and monsters?" Lelou suggests.
"Then we can scatter everyone else around the first world. Just a living gumbo drenched in mana?" Lala laughs.
It’s a great idea—a world of magic, with every species living together. Watching them interact would be an incredible learning experience.
