Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 304
Chapter 304: Chapter 304
"Can we even begin without the last Horseman? Even though he’s in the creation sphere, my visions still show him walking the planes." The Lycan Oracle interrupts.
"We agreed not to abduct the Bunny to stop the rampage through the Immortal Planes before we locked him away, that vision should be invalid now." One of the Humans interjects in an upset voice.
"You thought stealing my Bunny would make me kill fewer people?" I ask, curious how his logic works and the Dragon Oracle laughs.
"I told them the same thing. I’ve seen it. An entire Galaxy would burn on your ascension if they took the ones who are precious to you. But you know how humans are."
The Nephilim King thumps his desk. "We’re getting sidetracked. First, will the Oracles please tell us what they’ve each determined about the potential Pantheon. Then we can discuss specific visions to determine the level of threat it might pose to the upper planes."
[Can you hear me from there? You’re close to a potential entrance now] Karl’s voice sounds in my mind for the first time in ages.
[I hear you. We seem to be on trial as a potentially dangerous pantheon of new Gods. The humans insist we’re dangerous, the Titans are still mad at me, and the Dragons said an entire Galaxy would burn if they kept messing with us. It’s a total circus.]
[Hold tight. When the right moment comes, I’ll try to take action.]
That’s the last thing I hear from Karl before his voice goes silent again.
"We will start with the Titans. What does the council of giants see about this Pantheon?" The Nephilim King asks, and a giant with glowing gold eyes smiles at me. Instinctively I know that’s not his real form, but one to make other people comfortable, a good sign that the Titans as a whole aren’t going for a hostile resolution.
"The Titans have seen a balanced Pantheon rising in the Mortal Planes. As with all such occurrences, the weak will feel threatened and attack, but we have seen little chance of the conflict spreading beyond a few battles in the Immortal Realms."
The human representative looks livid at that assessment, it must be mostly human worlds that the battles would take place on. The Titan clearly has seen more than he mentioned, but that’s all he’s willing to contribute right now. He’s keeping his reasoning to himself, but they might want to try to alter the other visions themselves later to produce a better outcome for the Titan Clan. The failure at Deimos was a big hit to many Titans pride.
Next up is the Lycan Oracle. "The Moon Goddess has granted me a vision of the Mates walking the universe as Gods. Not Lycan Gods, but friends of the Moon. She sees no threat in them and wishes to see them protected."
That’s one solid vote for me, and one neutral. Not a bad start. But the next up is the Human Oracle, and that’s not going to end well.
"We have devoted many to the task of watching this Pantheon. Visions of carnage, of death, of souls stolen from the natural balance have all been seen. Few visions have been positive, they are a distinct and deadly threat."
The Nephilim King contemplates that for a moment before posing a question. "A threat to all of humanity? Or a threat to your organization? And in what planes."
"I have seen a rampage through the Immortal Realms, a hundred worlds of our people destroyed. Divine Transfer Oracles focus only on events that affect the success of the Divine Transfer." That settles that, the Human Oracle is viewed as biased by the others.
Everyone turns to the Beastkin Oracle next to him, a Bunny with fur as white as her eyes. Almost all Oracles are blind, their power letting them see only visions, not the world around them.
"This new Pantheon will be the saviors of the Bunny Race. Across a thousand Mortal and Immortal Realms they will walk, finding our kin and freeing them from slavery. The Beast Gods tell me that they are both predators and protectors, on the side of justice. I have seen them fight Beast armies, as well as defend them from others."
"Well that’s not Cryptic at all." The human Oracle snorts sarcastically, to which the Beastkin Oracle flips him off and Lelou smacks him in the back of the head, making the blind Bunny laugh.
"See. Champion of Justice."
The Nephilim Oracle cuts off any retort he might have had by beginning his assessment.
"It seems the threat of this Pantheon has much to do with your own attitude towards them. The Nephilim have seen them in combat through the mortal and Immortal Planes, but never in the Divine.
Our King asked that we focus on them, and we saw more. Entire worlds worshiping them, strange worlds, ones of many species living together, even ones where the Mortals gained great power without cultivation. Through many visions, the Nephilim Oracles have determined them to be a force for change, not destruction."
Bonus, I’ve now got half the Oracles on my side. Maybe they’re not going to do anything drastic after all. Now, it rests on the Dragons.
"The Black and Red Dragons are fond of these children, calling them righteous and noble. You should know that before I begin. The most important visions come first. If locked away, they will return for vengeance on those who betrayed them. We have seen a dozen attempts in our visions, including sending them to the Creation Sphere where the Black Lord is now. All have failed and led to carnage.
The worst of them were the attempts to kidnap those precious to the fledgling divinities, as their Pantheon will have a God of Compassion, but none of Mercy.
As we told the humans, the timelines that led to the abduction of Lala the Bunny were the most brutal, with the very worst leading the new pantheon to ally with the Beasts and Dragons to purge humans from an entire Galaxy in the Immortal Planes.
The best case scenario is a balanced Pantheon with no held grudges. With no scores to settle the Dragon Gods say they will keep to themselves and build the most wonderous Mortal Realm, unlike anything we’ve seen so far."
I don’t know if it’s a good assessment or not, but from the sounds of it, we’re going to have a lot of fun in the future. Seriously, who gets their own Mortal Realm? How cool would that be? Now I really, really want to be a Divinity.
