Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 296
Chapter 296: Chapter 296
"The wedding after parties are open to the public, the Capital city will be celebrating for two days after the ceremony is complete." The Imperial Guard confirms and the Lycans laugh.
"Only two days for a wedding party? That’s alright, we’ll teach you how a party is supposed to go." Beta John insists with a very large grin.
The Titans look a bit dubious at that prospect, but the Demons, Dragons and the Nephilim are with the Lycans on this one. Two days isn’t nearly enough time for a right proper Royal Party. The Nephilim celebrate for a week, and the Divine Plane Lycans still feel that they’re being chased out unnecessarily early.
After all, if you live forever, what’s one single week? Nothing at all.
Everyone chats about parties, weddings and other social functions they’ve attended over the years as we finish lunch, and the groups are finally starting to mingle. The mood in the room is much better when the trial resumes, with everyone looking forward to a bunch of rowdy Lycans crashing a Titan wedding party.
But before the mediator can even call a witness for the afternoon session the Titan Prince stands to offer a compromise settlement. The city of Deimos will be abandoned and all residents sent to a world of their choice. But the Titan Council admits no guilt or ongoing liability in the case.
That’s going to be far from enough for many of the people held here. They’ve lost everything, including large portions of their lives to this city. They’re not likely to get a much better offer though. If it’s not this, then the most likely answer is a very bloody war.
"The non Titan residents of Deimos have been left penniless by this unfortunate situation. Wouldn’t it be a much more palatable compromise if the Titan Clan were to cover their resettlement expenses?" Ragnar the Red Dragon suggests without looking up.
That’s not going to be cheap, there’s millions of them. But the Titans don’t really have any other options to avoid war. That might be why Ragnar suggested it though. If the cost is too high and they opt for battle, he will gladly join in with that beautiful sword he’s been polishing all morning.
"Agreed. The Titan Clan will provide funding for them to get a home in the Mortal World where they choose to settle." The Council Leader agrees grudgingly. You’d think it was entirely his own money and not a pittance to the Divine Council he represents.
They still need to settle the actual money part of things, but the representatives are already sending messages to their forces to gather everyone they can of their own species for relocation. The Dragons will be taking the unclaimed ones, the members of the small species and the non shifter Beastkin.
As soon as the deal was made, the Imperial Guard, along with the Prince and Mila managed to vanish while my eyes were turned. One second they were here, the next there was not even a scent trail. A much better abduction than I’d given them credit for. I’ll see them again at the wedding after party though.
It’s customary that they show up for at least the first toast before retiring to enjoy their wedding night. The Imperial family almost all have harems, both the men and the women, but this is the Prince’s first wife. It’s a coveted position for any Titan woman, so Mila should be well taken care of.
Hey innocence concerns me though. I hope nobody will be taking advantage of her naivety to make her life miserable at the palace.
Everyone else seems to have something to do now that a tentative agreement is set. The dignitaries are organizing their forces to collect millions of refugees and start sending them to new homes, their Assistants are looking over the mountains of paperwork to do the actual filing for this incident and the Titans are organizing an evacuation for their people from the city.
The fighting in the streets hasn’t fully stopped, and a lot of people had a lot of pent up aggression, the combination of which has currently set a good chunk of the city on fire. I was going to close the window to reduce the smell when a flash of brown fur caught my eye and I leaned out to get a better look.
"What you doing Little Lycan?" Beta John asks from behind me, steadying me by the hips so I don’t fall out the window.
"I found a Bunny. Bunnies are afraid of fire and very timid. They won’t know where to go, even with the Red Dragons here." I explain.
"So we’re going to hunt Bunnies?" He asks hopefully.
"Yes, but no biting. Find where they’re hiding and bring them back. Say, first one to fifty wins?"
If there’s one thing I know about John, it’s that he never, ever turns down a challenge. He doesn’t even try to exit gracefully, he just jumps over me and put the window, followed by a half dozen other Lycans. He must have mind linked them about the hunt, because they’re all navigating by smell.
I wave goodbye to Ragnar, who jumped out behind me before transforming into his fully grown Dragon body and flying off. He’s got the simplest tactic ever, just gliding over the city and shouting at random people to let them know what’s going on and where to go.
While the other Lycans are going by scent, I decide to work strategically, going to secure places Bunnies would likely hide. The whole city smells like fire and blood right now, and with everyone running around it’s going to be almost impossible to tell what direction they are going.
The first place I check is the outer buildings of the Council area. They didn’t get seriously damaged thanks to the guards, but they’re well built warehouses with few windows and strong doors. A great spot to wait out a battle.
The moment I open the first door, the smell of terrified Bunny overwhelms me. "Hi, I’m not hostile. My name is Katrina and I’m with the Dragon Gods. The city is being evacuated and everyone will be relocated to a world of their choice. There is a Red Dragon staging area not far from here if you all want to leave."
They look around at each other confused, and I notice that some have attempted to put their collars back on even after they broke. Most Bunnies aren’t big on risk taking.
"The Titans got in trouble for keeping Immortals as slaves, so they’re sending everyone home to avoid war with the Dragons and Lycans. If you don’t have a world to go to, tell the Dragons to send you to mine. They don’t keep any slaves, and they’re good at finding work and places to stay for new people."
It’s only a couple thousand more Bunnies, and I’m on a whole other world. I’m certain Narishma and the other Arcana city managers can’t strangle me from that far away. Besides, Bunnies are cute, hardworking, helpful and cute. What more could you ask for?
