Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 261
Chapter 261: Chapter 261
The wolves did indeed get everything sorted while we were asleep. Most of the pack are into the fortification realm already, they’ve been working hard to advance their cultivation since they learned it exists. Sure, most haven’t even reached Condensation, but they’re making fairly equal progress.
So that’s my mission for the night. I’m going to watch their evening cultivation training sessions in a few hours and see what I can do to improve the speed. They don’t have any alchemists, except possibly the witches, so they don’t have any cultivation aids to speed up their progress. I could leave some, but that’s temporary. So I will see what I have to work with until then.
"Baba, do you know anything of pill making type alchemy? There are a few pills that can be made with common ingredients available from the creation circle both to heal and to speed cultivation." I ask of the oldest of the witches.
"I do, and my apprentice does as well. We’ve only got the two pill recipes though. One to cure poison, and another to clarify the mind." She says thoughtfully.
"In that case, I’ll write you out the recipe for grade 1 healing pills, and a grade 1 Qi Gathering Pill that will help everyone along their path." I tell her, pulling paper and a pen from my storage rings.
The younger witch giggles and I give her a confused look, wondering what set her off.
"Your rings, the storage rings. I can see the energy spike when you use them. That’s um, an interesting choice of accessory. I would have never suspected them if I hadn’t gained true sight from my blessings." She stammers.
Oh, she can see energy flows all the time, like I can with my eyes closed. So she saw that my storage rings are nipple piercings. No wonder she’s startled.
"Best hiding spot ever. Nobody suspects it." I laugh, writing out the very simple recipes for the two most basic of cultivation pills.
"Oh, these are easy. Or at last they look that way until you try forming the pills. Every witch makes potions, so I’ll have them all get started on this, we brought plenty of all these ingredients with us, they grow wild in the area." The old woman declares, ushering her coven out after they finish eating.
"Where are they off to in the dead of the night?" One of the guards asks suspiciously, watching them head out into the yard.
"I sent them to make cultivation pills for the pack. They’ll more than double everyone’s cultivation speed, helping you all get stronger before you’re overrun by monsters you can’t beat."
He looks thoughtful and then cups his chin as if making a decision. "I’ll give them a chance. If witches can help us stay safe, they’re not entirely evil like the legends say. And they did promise to help keep the wall inscriptions active." He decides out loud, and I can see a few others agree with his decision.
"Is pill making that easy that you can just give them a recipe like baking a cake?" One of the women asks me.
"Not really, but it’s related to potion making, which they already know, so most of them should be able to create the simplest of pills on the first try, or at the least the second or third." I shrug, hoping for the best. Without Karl here I can’t even cheat and memory transfer them the knowledge.
With that settled, and the cultivation session not yet started, I head for the main supply area to see how they’re doing. A steady stream of pack members is coming through, gathering everything from kitchen ware to carpets and furniture. As they enter, they’re dropping any monster cores they’ve collected into a communal basket to make what the pack needs to rebuild.
The handful of orphans are in line, so I head over to see how they’re coping.
"Did the Alpha get you everything you needed? I’m here if there’s anything else. I even give good hugs. Not as good as Lala, but pretty good." I smile at the kids, who are all traveling as a group.
"They put us in with John, the head of the trackers and his wife. They’re good people." One of the kids says, and an older man behind them extends his hand.
"Pleasure to meet you. I’m not sure what to call you. Alpha? High Priestess?Ambassador?"
"You can call me Katrina, or Young Miss if you like, though High Priestess works. I’m not an Alpha, I’m officially part of Alpha Petros’s pack."
"Young Miss it is then. You just don’t fit all those formal titles. At least not in the eyes of an old wolf like me." He laughs.
"You say Young Miss like it’s a title too, how did you get that as a nickname? Don’t ranked Lycans usually get tough, strong names?" One of the boys asks.
"It was given to me by my master at the Shadowed Blade Sect. An Assassin’s Sect of cultivators in another world that I traveled to and trained in to get this strong." I explain.
"You’re an assassin? That is so badass. I totally want to be you when I grow up." One of the girls yells, making the surrounding pack members laugh.
"Wasn’t your mom a kitchen Omega though? Assassins have to be dangerous." One of the boys frowns, reluctant to shatter her dream.
"I’ll let you all in on a secret. One of my parents was an omega, and the other was a simple human. Not a mage or a witch or anything special, just a regular old human. But I worked hard and cultivated my very best until I was much stronger than they had ever dreamed of." I wonder a moment if they know what’s become of me now. We were never really close, and they didn’t approve of my dream to be a pack warrior, but still, I hope they know that I’m doing well.
"Really? Like really, really?" She asks and I nod.
"Then I’m going to be the very best cultivator ever. I’ll be strong enough that no monster can hurt me." Those words resonate with the kids, I can see it in their eyes.
"In that case, I’ll find you all personalized cultivation techniques, so you can do your very best." I smile at the kids and wave them forward.
"It’s your turn for supplies."
