Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 216
Chapter 216: Chapter 216
John and the Green Dragons were just as unwilling to go as Steve, and as eager as I am to get this mission over with, so no objections were raised to me heading to the Demon World to negotiate on our behalf.
Prince Ivan makes a call with a communication token and a portal opens in the room, the misshapen demons going first, while Prince Ivan extends his arm for me to take and we’re off to Sodom, waving goodbye to Steve as the portal closes behind us.
When we reach the other side we’re surrounded by mostly Core Formation Realm Vampire guards with swords drawn, sneering at us.
"You’ve slipped up this time Prince. Nobody will be here to save you in time." The one with the fanciest uniform laughs, while his minions restrain the servants from the Prince’s party.
Vampires are Undead, smart ones but still Undead. I wonder if I can control them like zombies? With focus I can feel their link to reality, ending them would be as simple as dismissing a zombie. I don’t think they knew I was coming, or at the very least they don’t know I’m a High Priestess.
I push a wave of Death Energy at them, grabbing control of their bodies in an instant.
"Now, what should I do with you morons?" I ask with a smile and I can feel them struggling against my control. Only the leader is in the Immortal Realm of Cultivation though. The rest simply have no chance.
"What did you do to me?" he manages to choke out and I can see the butler form an evil grin as he realizes that the tables have turned.
"Did you really think that Vampires could cross the Death God?" The butler asks and I can see the guards begin to panic. "You’re Undead, a High Priestess like her could dismiss you with a thought. Seriously, did you even think this through?"
He sounds genuinely curious. The rest of the retinue is wasting no time binding the guards in some sort of silver zip ties. They shouldn’t be sensitive to silver like Werewolves are, so the ties must be enchanted.
"This place seems fun. I haven’t even been here a whole minute and people are begging me to kill them." I tell Prince Ivan.
"My apologies, my older brothers routinely try to have me assassinated. They should know not to try during official business though." He shrugs.
The butler gestures for silence again, and that people are listening as he leads us through the castle corridors towards what I’m guessing is the throne room. Just before we reach the grand set of double doors another group of misshapen demons comes running our way, falling in around the Prince. He must favor this race as guards where one of his brothers favors Vampires.
There is a lineup of people outside the room, all in their very formal best. This calls for the trusty Royal Robes. This flashy multi layered outfit is really becoming a go to in my wardrobe. Who knew I’d have to deal with so many Royals and dignitaries in this life? It definitely wasn’t anything I considered not so long ago when I last left Arcana.
I move up a half step behind Prince Ivan on his right and shoot him a smile. He’s momentarily startled by my change of outfit, but nods his approval and steps through the crowd, the guards opening a path for us without resistance. When we reach the doorway he stops and the butler steps forward into the room.
"Announcing His Highness Ivan, Crown Prince of Sodom and Her Highness Katrina, Second Rank High Priestess of the Black Dragon, Representative of The Divine Council."
That announcement was to this room what matches are to kerosene. The room erupts into gossip, speculation and rumor. My sensitive ears pick up a great number of different ideas what I’m doing here, what my relation to the Prince is and why I would agree to this assignment. The demons are definitely not fans of the Divine Council, but the Death God is considered one of their own, as the usual methods of cultivating Death Energy in an effort to gain the Black Dragon’s attention or favor turn a lot of the humans who try it into demons.
This Plane seems to be on par with the last Immortal world I was in. Lots of immortals, Mortal Realm Cultivators doing most of the work and only a handful of Early Divine Realm Cultivators, including the King and a few of his advisors and nobles.
We make our way to the front of the room, where Prince Ivan takes a knee, while I give a small curtsey, the silk draped over my arms floating on the energy currents flowing through the room like a breeze. The King gives a small smile in return. A strange look on his passively stoic looking face.
"Your Highness, my gratitude for the warm welcome. I do thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me." I greet him and I can see the panicked look on Prince Ivan’s face. I suppose demons don’t usually greet the King so familiarly. But he’s not my King, despite any Demon blood I might have now.
"Rise, son. We thank you for bringing the envoy to us in such timely manner." The King says, looking at Prince Ivan, but I see his eyes flicker to one side as if he’s about to act. Opening my senses, I can feel the rush of energy coming towards me at a rapid rate, so I raise a barrier of Death Energy an inch from my skin, but it brushes past me, headed for Ivan.
Ivan grabs the hand of the attacker, tossing him to the floor just as I’m about to call the Dragons on the invisible figure and the King begins to laugh. "Forgive us High Priestess. Young Ivan was named Crown Prince a year ago today, and by tradition, his brothers have less than one more hour to take the position from him however they can without repercussions. We did not expect him to make such a punctual return to the palace."
"I forgot to account for the change in time zone when calculating the time flow difference." Ivan whispers, embarrassed by his mistake.
Oh, this game sounds like way more fun than capture the flag.
"Don’t let my presence spoil the fun then. I’m sure you know Lycans love good game. With your permission, I’ll play for team Ivan." I smile back at the King and the room gets very quiet.
"Perhaps it’s better you join us in the study instead. We’ve all seen how the Black Priestesses play killing games." One of the advisors says. Oh, politics. How annoying you are.
