Mage And Wolf
Chapter 202

Chapter 202: Chapter 202

I’ve finally found a researcher named Tippet with a sense of fun. He’s a friend of Doosan’s and is helping me with a new pill, under the remote guidance of Elder Song. If successful, it should let Mortals cultivate the Divine infused energy here for a period of time, allowing them to cultivate properly, and likely very rapidly due to the energy density.

Ahra has kindly volunteered to be our test subject. Well, she didn’t cry and run away like the other mortals we asked did, so that’s basically consent. The Researcher is strong enough he should be able to neutralize and extract the pill from her body should anything go wrong, and we’ve got version 1.0 ready now.

"So you have the video ready? Yes. Excellent. Divine Absorbency Pill version 1, test begins now." I pass the pill to Ahra who takes it with shaking hands and swallows it.

The influx of energy is immediate and intense, forcing her to breakthrough in the first few seconds before stabilizing.

"How do you feel? Any pain, nausea, numbness? Can you feel the energy coming into you? Can you cultivate it?"

She answers the questions we ask one by one, confirming no major side effects so far, but great difficulty cultivating. Not in the painful way that divine energy usually burns the system of mortals, but as if it was too thick to push through.

We brainstorm a bit, and I pass off Elder Song’s idea as my own to Researcher Tippet combining it with his ideas and making a second batch of pills. Ahra looks better already now that her body isn’t starved for energy.

Round two is much better to use, the energy flows freely, but it’s got a tingling cold sensation that keeps making her sneeze. She says it’s like the feeling of peppermint on her tongue, but in every cell of her body.

That could be fun for other purposes, so I make a note of the recipe and set it aside in my notes.

It’s late at night before we get version three finished, but it’s again an improvement. The energy is a bit thicker, and harder to circulate, but not enough to greatly reduce effectiveness, and the tingle is reduced to very minimal levels. We call it for the day, giving Ahra half of the pills and saving the rest for our documentation.

The other researchers think we’re all a bit odd, but I’ve got a plan. Until they reach the Divine level of cultivation, Nephilim still use other forms of energy to cultivate and have to convert it within their body. With the pill, they can skip that step and hopefully increase the energy flow, speeding up low level cultivating in a Divine Plane or equivalent world.

What I need is a child, or someone with Foundation level cultivation to test the theory on from stage one. But I don’t know where to find anyone like that who will be available for research purposes.

"Researcher, we need a Foundation Realm Nephilim cultivator to test these pills from the beginning. Know where we might find one?" I ask and he frowns.

"Can it be some other Immortal species? There’s some Titan Clan refugees with small children who have just started cultivating. They’re naturally immortals too." He suggests.

"I don’t see why why not. Though the data would be more balanced if we weren’t using Titan Clan members for both subjects. We can always test on more subjects once we determine safety though."

The King didn’t seem too impressed with our idea, but didn’t stop us from going to find a volunteer in the city. Unfortunately for us, the refugees the research team knew of left with the Titans after the attack following my arrival. We do find a homeless kid whose mother offers to sell him for drugs though.

Simple, safe and efficient. He even thanked us for the clean clothes.

The next version I split until they reach grade 1 status, but use the easy to circulate formula with a few changes we hope will reduce the tingling feeling.

Once he takes the pill his cultivation base immediately begins to skyrocket and he passes out.

"Still too strong. But if I manually circulate the incoming energy we might get additional gains." I narrate for the camera. The entire system of the Nephilim is nearly perfect for cultivation. Every accupoint is open from birth and they can cultivate everything from mortal to divine energy, though not efficiently.

"The manual method is working, subject’s body is still advancing through the Foundation Realm even while unconscious."

"Elapsed time three hours seven minutes, effects are fading, subject has stabilized at the ninth level of the Foundation Realm."

This was a great success. Except for the fact there appears to be no throttle and this version of the pill floods the user with energy. That might be a matter of mental strength though. If it works as well the second time, and if he can stay awake we might have a winner. Tippet calls for meals to be brought up, that much change to his body all at once probably has the boy starving and exhausted.

After he gets a proper meal in and gets tucked into the bed in the back room of the lab we go back to reviewing our notes.

"Hey, this version of the pills is supposed to change the Divine energy into the easiest form for the body to process, right?" I double check with my partner.

"In theory, yes." He agrees.

"So what happens if I take one? My body cultivates Death and Divine energy for the most part." I wonder out loud looking at the pill bottle.

He’s about to answer when I pop one in my mouth and wait for the effect. It’s not a long wait, within seconds the minty tingle starts, focused mostly between the legs. Oh, that’s not bad at all, it almost made me forget I was supposed to be cultivating.

The feeling of this energy is unlike anything I’ve experienced before, but it merges flawlessly with my body. I narrate the experience for the record. Again the effect ends at the three hour mark and we begin the measurements versus my known baseline to determine improvement.

The determination is that my cultivation base isn’t changing at all. Instead my body is changing in some other way that is absorbing the energy. Physically I appear unchanged, so we run a set of physical tests, everything from skin toughness to Claw density and durability. All as expected from the data I gathered on myself after advancement.

It’s when I close my eyes to think that I notice something odd.

"Hey, are there supposed to be Koi and Lotus flowers in my Spirit Ocean now that I’ve reached Immortal?"
