Chapter 91: Chapter 91

Sebastian was the same.

After realizing that Lucien wasn’t here for a talk, he stopped trying to be polite and went straight to the point.

"Let me be clear, Mr. LeBlanc. I’m here for a business talk with you because of my wife’s recommendation. I do not desperately need to sign a contract with you," Sebastian said. "But, if you are willing to ditch the mushy part of your brain and start talking about money, then we may work together. I’m sure you already know Goldmine Realty."

Lucien scoffed. He crossed his arms again and responded, "Then, let me be clear as well. I’m here to meet with Winter, not a cheap replacement for Aiden Kirk."

"And for what? Are you trying to flirt with her in hopes of dating her?"

"Isn’t that obvious enough?"

"Man, you’re in your forties!"

"And Winter is in her late thirties!" Lucien insisted. He poked at Sebastian’s shoulder as he wanted to make himself clear, "Listen, you hairy skunk. Winter and I—we have chemistry, a real one at that. I just didn’t try to get close to her before because I respect Aiden as we have been good friends and business partners for a long time. But I don’t have that respect for you, because we both know that you are just a replacement that she will ditch once she finds someone better.’

"Besides, I know that you’re still in your twenties. You’re young and reckless. You’ll cheat on her after a while," Lucien added. "You will either destroy her company, her reputation, or her as a person."

Sebastian’s gaze was as dark as it could be. He clenched his fist, he only needed one more taunt from this bastard’s mouth before he punched his teeth out.

He didn’t know if he was angry at Lucien for being attracted to Winter, or if he was angry at him for telling the truth.

Because in the previous life, Sebastian did ruin everything for Winter.

He ruined her company by stealing the ownership from her.

He ruined her reputation by constantly limiting her contact with the outside world. It didn’t matter if he did it out of jealousy or insecurity, the deed was done, and there was no apology worth the amount of pain Winter felt.

Lastly, Sebastian also ruined Winter as a person.

He had committed a grave sin that he didn’t want to relive. So when Lucien called him out for all of the terrible things Sebastian did, he got defensively angry.

’No, I can’t do this. Calm down, Sebastian,’ Sebastian told himself as his chest heaved. ’If you ruin this, then you’ll waste Winter’s effort to set up everything. She has done so much for you, the least you can do is not to mess this up."

"It seems that I’m right," Lucien said. "You are a young man with no experience. You might be able to maintain the company right now, and I applaud you for that. But to have a wife as amazing as Winter? I find you two hilariously incompatible. Are you after her money?"

Sebastian found peace after he imagined Winter’s smile. Had it not for her smile lingering in his head, he would’ve brutally attacked this bastard.

Thus, he calmed down and said, "If you keep insulting and accusing me like this, then I’d rather take my wife out of this event. I’ll tell her that you’re not up for any business with us because you only respect Aiden Kirk. Not me, not her. I’m sure she’d like to hear that."

"You—!" Lucien was speechless. He thought he had successfully suppressed Sebastian. He initially hoped Sebastian would turn around, and run away with his tail tucked between his legs, or just straight-up punch Lucien in the face.

After all, Sebastian was just a young man, and he looked like someone with bad control over his temper.

"Now, Mr. LeBlanc. I don’t mind losing you as a potential client. Winter will be upset, and Goldmine Realty will lose a chance to quickly recover. But I can always find another client, and once the company is going up, she will eventually forgive me for failing to sign a contract with you," Sebastian smirked. "But what about you? You should know that Winter only contacted you because she was hoping you might give her Goldmine Realty some project to work with."

"In the end, I will still stay with Winter no matter what. But you—you will be out of her life. Forgotten, and she would eventually forget that you ever existed. We can clearly see the winner here," Sebastian smirked as he saw the smug smile gradually disappear from Lucien’s face. "Now, if you’re smart enough, you would sign a project with me, so you may be able to meet with Winter once or twice. You can have your futile attempt of seducing her too, though I doubt it’d work out."

Honestly, he was never proud of his bloodline. He never knew his father, so he assumed that his dad must’ve been a deadbeat who ran away.

And his mother? Well, she was an absolute piece of shit who deserved to dine in hell with satan.

But at least, he was glad to inherit his mother’s persuasive nature. It worked wonders for Camilla as a loan shark, and it also worked wonders for Sebastian as a businessman. He needed that cold-blooded persuasion and manipulation to stay on top.

Sebastian knew that he had the upper hand when he saw the complicated gaze from Lucien. Of course, once Lucien signed a contract with his company, he would hide Winter from him. He obviously wouldn’t allow Winter to be close with this bastard.

’My chance of getting her forgiveness is already slim to none. I don’t want to make it harder for myself,’ Sebastian thought. "So, what do you think, Mr. LeBlanc? Do you want to strike a deal with me, or do you want to walk out of Winter’s life forever? The choice is yours."
