Chapter 69: Chapter 69

Sebastian followed the car into the basement parking lot of Avant Tower, where their penthouse was located.

His eyes were bloodshot with focus; he didn’t want to lose sight of Winter’s car. He was terrified that the bastard might drive off somewhere else and take his wife away.

He knew he was being unreasonable, and under normal circumstances, he would never think of doing something so pointless.

But the way that bastard looked at his wife sent his mind into chaos because he knew damn well that Arthur would kiss his wife if ever given the chance.

Sebastian doubted Winter would ever give Arthur that chance. She always maintained a boundary between herself and other men around her. But sometimes, even a little friendly banter between her and another man would make Sebastian’s heart ache with anger and worry.

He watched his wife step out of the car and walk towards the elevator alone, but she was unknowingly followed by Arthur, who didn’t seem to care that Sebastian was in the parking lot, silently watching them.

He saw Arthur grabbing Winter’s hand, stopping her on her track.

Winter turned around and gave Arthur a kind smile she had never given him.

The moment he saw that kind smile directed towards another man, his body acted before he could even think. He quickly left his car and rushed towards Winter and Arthur.

He yelled at them, and his voice echoed in the parking lot, "HANDS OFF, YOU BASTARD!"

Winter and Arthur were shocked by his outburst. They turned their heads at the same time.

Winter was surprised by how red Sebastian’s face was. He was like a demon that spawned from hell, and his bloodshot eyes only made it worse.

Meanwhile, Arthur stood protectively in front of his Madam, just as he did in the office or whenever he felt a threat could hurt her.

"Mr. Saenz, I ask you to—Urgh!"

Arthur couldn’t finish his sentence because Sebastian suddenly grabbed his collar and flung him to the side effortlessly until he lost his balance.,

Arthur was caught off guard. He never expected this man to have such overwhelming strength, as he didn’t seem to be someone who grew up in the military like him.

Arthur quickly recovered and clenched his fist, ready to punch Sebastian before he could do anything to his beloved Madam.

But before his fist reached Sebastian’s face, Winter stopped him abruptly. "Enough, Arthur."

"M-madam, he is—"

"No, it’s fine. I’ll take it from here," Winter said as she grabbed Sebastian’s hand and led him to the elevator.

Sebastian was like an angry lion that had met his tamer. He simply walked without saying anything, but when Arthur was about to follow them, he looked over his shoulder and glared at Arthur.

Arthur held his breath as his eyes met with Sebastian’s.

He joined the military after high school, and after being deployed many times before his early retirement at thirty years old, he had never seen someone as intimidating as this man.

It was weird because, in Arthur’s eyes, this man didn’t seem to be someone with a lot of guts. Sebastian wasn’t muscular like Arthur. He had lean muscle at best, but his strength seemed on par with Arthur’s.

’Wait, why am I getting intimidated? My Madam—!’

"Madam!"

Winter looked over her shoulder just like Sebastian and smiled at Arthur. "Don’t cross your boundary, Arthur. I told you to leave, so leave. I’ll call you once this man actually hits me with his hands."

Arthur had no way to convince his Madam anymore, especially when Sebastian did nothing except follow her from behind, silently staring at her back as if she was a treasure that could dissipate into thin air.

Arthur could only watch as Sebastian and Winter entered the elevator. He stared blankly before returning to the car.

He clenched the steering wheel, feeling sad and empty.

"Why do you believe him more than you do me, Madam?" Arthur muttered. He had wanted to ask his Madam that but lacked the courage.

He knew how to maintain his ambiguous relationship with Winter. He couldn’t afford to offend her or even make her slightly uncomfortable because the moment he got fired by his Madam, then it would be all over for him.

"If only I could always be by your side, Madam," Arthur said, closing his eyes as he relished the idea of marrying Winter.

It had always been a fantasy for him, but that wasn’t completely impossible, right?

"She smiled so sweetly at me. So sweetly that I might die from it."

Arthur had chased his Madam before because he still couldn’t get off his mind at what would happen to her once she was all alone with Sebastian in the penthouse, but his Madam gave him a sweet smile and said,

’If he lays his hand on me, I will be in your care, Arthur.’

Arthur smiled and murmured, "I will treat you right, Madam."

Sebastian and Winter waited as the elevator ascended in silence. Winter wasn’t scared at all despite Sebastian staring at her unblinkingly. His bloodshot eyes didn’t help as well.

In fact, Winter was quite surprised at how this man could make such an expression. In her previous life, Sebastian always wore that cold face, as if he didn’t care, even if Winter jumped from the balcony or hung herself in the living room.

"Can you at least blink?" Winter asked half-jokingly. "I feel watched."

"That’s the intention," Sebastian said. "I am watching you so you remember you already have a husband."

"You don’t need to remind me. I understand that I am your wife, though only on paper. I’m sure you can’t wait to get rid of me as well," Winter said. "And for that, the feeling is mutual."

Sebastian ought to play along and say that he also loathed her because if he kept showing his true feelings, there could be a day when Winter discovered he also went back in time just like her.
