Chapter 108: Chapter 108

Camilla stopped crying once she realized it didn’t work anymore. She glared at Winter who dared to influence her son to go against her.

She knew from the beginning this dumb bitch was no good. but she had to force Sebastian to marry her. It was the only way to creep inside Goldmine Realty and take everything that she deserved from the beginning, including Aiden’s immense wealth.

"I didn’t know a woman who looks very sweet and loving like you can be so vicious, Winter. Had I known it before, I wouldn’t allow my son to marry an old, infertile widow like you," Camilla said.

Camilla’s words stung right at Winter’s sore spot. Her lips twitched, as she itched to jab back at Camilla who dared to call her infertile. She knew she wasn’t, because she was pregnant with Sebastian’s son before her death, and the doctor said she had a healthy baby inside.

But it was Sebastian who defended her fiercely.

"Get out of the office, Mom," Sebastian said.

"No, I’m not leaving. You are my son and the CEO of this company. Why should I leave?" Camilla insisted. She glanced at Winter who grinned and pointed her finger at her, "Why are you taking that woman’s side? Don’t you realize that she has been poisoning your mind? Wake up, Sebastian Saenz!"

Sebastian had no more patience to deal with his mother. He had a lot of things to do after he finished his first meeting with Lucien LeBlanc. Thus, he simply grabbed Winter’s wrist and said, "Fine, if you don’t want to leave, then Winter and I will leave instead. We are busy."

Winter was dragged out of the meeting room. She didn’t fight back and followed Sebastian as he rushed out. She gave Camilla a silent gaze full of mockery before they entered the elevator, leaving Camilla alone, wiping the fake tears from the corner of her eyes.

She had never been so humiliated in her life, especially in front of a hotelier magnate like Lucien LeBlanc who could’ve been one of her business partners in the future.

’It’s all because of that poisonous woman...’ Camilla thought.

She might’ve underestimated Winter because she thought that woman wouldn’t be able to influence Sebastian at all since Sebastian was also an unwilling participant in the marriage that Camilla set up for him.

’Calm down, Camilla. Sebastian is probably infatuated because Winter is treating him too nicely. That boy is so weak-hearted that he would submit to any woman who treats him kindly, even though all he needs is discipline,’ Camilla told herself. ’I will find another way to make sure they are separated. He doesn’t need another woman to listen to. He only needs to listen to me, his mother who raised him—from a sinful byproduct of an affair with his coward father—to be a smart and great leader.’

’It is I who makes everything possible for him. He shouldn’t be treating me like I am the crazy one in here!’

Camilla knew she had to get rid of Winter as soon as possible. However, that was simply impossible when she had such tight security around her.

Camilla knew that man, Arthur, was not only a driver but also a bodyguard with great military skill. Arthur also had a few ’friends’ in reserve in case Winter needed tighter protection.

The first thing she had to do was to dismantle this man who had been protecting Winter for so long.

"He might be loyal to Winter, but I’m sure he also has his grievances. Let’s see what I can offer in exchange for him switching loyalty to me instead."

Sebastian was still holding Winter’s hand tightly despite not being within Camilla’s sight anymore. She tried to pull her hand, but Sebastian tightened his grip, making sure that Winter wouldn’t escape him.

"It’s okay to let go, Sebastian."

"I don’t want to," Sebastian insisted. "I—I made another mistake, Winter."

"Another mistake?" Winter frowned. "And what is that? I think you did great during the meeting with Lucien. You two end up striking a great deal to benefit each other."

"No, it’s not about our project. I’m talking about the way I’m handling my mother just now," Sebastian said in a low voice as if he was truly ashamed of what he did. "I should’ve been harsher against her."

"Well, that’s surprising," Winter raised her brow. "I didn’t expect you to go against your mother. Aren’t you one hell of a momma’s boy?"

Sebastian’s cheeks reddened. He couldn’t outright deny it, because it was true. He had been trying to distance himself from his mother and tried to toughen up whenever his mother manipulated him into obeying her.

He was the one who caused Winter’s death out of his ignorance in their previous lives because he had always obeyed his mother’s words.

’And in the end, my own mother betrayed me. She replaced me with her new boyfriend as the new CEO, leaving me heartbroken and lost after Winter’s death,’ Sebastian thought. ’In the end, she’s the one who killed me by taking the only thing I have, being the CEO of a company that my beloved wife owned.’

Sebastian did a lot of thinking in the past, and he had realized that sticking up for his mother wasn’t worth the price that he had to pay.

It was exactly because he got too obedient to his cruel mother that Winter suffered until she was pushed to the breaking point.

He could’ve used all of that time to protect Winter and build a good relationship with her, hoping that she would love him genuinely once more.

"I’m married to you now, Winter. So I belong to you and only you," Sebastian said as he turned to face her. He lifted her hand and kissed her finger as he stared at Winter with sincerity in his eyes. "So, please don’t kick me away, Winter. You are the only one I have in this world."
