Loving The Temperamental Adonis -
Chapter 262: The wedding
Chapter 262: The wedding
At the edge of the tranquil ocean, as the sun dipped below the horizon, the breathtaking scene unfolded on the sandy beach.
A heart-shaped arch, adorned with vibrant red roses, stood as the centerpiece, framing the endless sea beyond. The arch was flanked by two dazzling fountains of fireworks, their sparks illuminating the twilight with a magical glow.
Beneath this canopy of light, tall white candles in glass holders were meticulously arranged, their flames flickering gently in the evening breeze, casting a warm, inviting glow over the groom who stood on the alter with his five groomsmen.
A crimson carpet, lined with an abundance of deep red roses, led the way to this enchanting display where the groom was standing with his two sons on either side of him and five men behind him. Each rose stood tall, a symbol of enduring love, creating a path of passion and promise. Petals were scattered delicately along the aisle.
Mia Galverra walked slowly up the aisle of scattered rose petals with her bridesmaids, past the rows of shyly smiling familiar faces who she’d come to take as family, to willingly and proudly meet her fate.
With sunset rays casting a golden glow over her dimpled smiling face, she placed her hand in the hand of the tall, darkly handsome man who was waiting for her at the altar, and standing before a solemn priest with smiling brown eyes, she tightened her grip on her husband to officially become his wife in eyes of his relatives.
Rayne, who stood behind Mia noticed the bride’s gown was tangled, she bent down to adjust the wedding gown, the delicate lace catching slightly on the fabric of her dress. As she smoothed out the intricate details, she felt an intense gaze on her, causing her hands to tremble slightly. She almost lost her footing as she was about to stand but steadied herself just in time with the help of two little hands grabbing each of hers. She looked down to see Nolan and Noah, who had somehow made their way to stand beside the bride instead of their father, the groom.
"We’ve got you, Aunt," they said in unison, smiling up at her.
Rayne smiled warmly at them, stroking their heads affectionately. "Thank you, my little gentlemen," she whispered.
As she straightened up, her eyes were drawn to the person whose gaze she had felt earlier.
Standing among the groomsmen was Liam Thompson. Their eyes met, and despite the distance, Rayne felt the intensity of his stare. He didn’t look away, his deep, dark eyes seeming to bore into her soul. He wore a black suit that accentuated his firm physique, and his crew-cut hair was swept back neatly. He looked more handsome than any top model, but his gaze made her uncomfortable.
She quickly averted her eyes, focusing back on the bride and groom who were now taking their vows.
Neil held Mia’s hands tenderly, his voice filled with emotion as he began his vows. "Mia, from the moment I met you, I knew my life would never be the same. You brought light into my world, a light I never knew I was missing. Today, I stand before you, promising to be your partner, your confidant, and your greatest supporter. I vow to cherish every moment we share, to laugh with you in times of joy, and to hold you close in times of sorrow. You are my heart, my home, and my forever. I love you with every fiber of my soul, and I promise to spend the rest of my life proving that to you..."
Rayne felt her throat tighten, emotions welling up inside her. She knew Mia was lucky to have found someone like Neil, a man who loved and cared for her so deeply. Not everyone was lucky in love...
As the ceremony continued, Rayne couldn’t help but steal a glance at Liam. His eyes were still on her, unwavering and intense. She quickly looked away, trying to focus on the joy of her friend’s special day. But the weight of his gaze lingered, making her feel uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, Neil gazed down at the beautiful woman beside him, her shining hair entwined with flowers and pearls. He heard her saying her marriage vows, while other visions of her danced through his mind: Mia looking somberly beautiful and regally aloof in Novaria when they met after five years of separation...Mia, offering him a ride and showing him kindness after he had been neglected by many.
’I believe in you, Neil.’
Mia, her brown eyes glowing with merriment on the day they had a pretend date on the mountain cabin. He remembered how they’d danced to Lewis Capaldi, Burning, her lips still warm from their passionate kiss and love making, her eyes dark and apprehensive...
And now, Mia, standing beside him on the beach under the sunset, saying their vows to each other. Mia, turning her face up to him: "I, Mia, take you to be my lawfully wedded husband...."
Neil looked down at her and joy exploded in his chest, pouring through his veins until it was almost past bearing. Her glowing face was a picture he knew he would remember as long as he lived; her softly spoken words a benediction that lingered in his heart.
The memory was still vibrantly alive many hours later, when his wife finally came to him, the naked splendor of her body bathed in moonlight streaming through the bedroom window of the big Yacht he’d bought for their honeymoon. He watched her, aching to give her the world and everything in it, because she had already given him so much.
Love tightened his throat as her arms drew him to her, and he covered her body with his. Tenderness burst within him when she unashamedly welcomed him into her incredible warmth. They moved together, two people making wild beautiful love to each other, until Mia finally cried out in shivering ecstasy; then he gathered her into his arms and, whispering her name, Neil gave her the only gift that was his alone to give. He gave her himself.
