I’ll put it up first. For those students who are not satisfied with this level, I can only look at you innocently and purely...

Yu Sifeng still finds it incredible when he recalls the day he met Xuanji.

Every time he thinks about it, he turns to her and asks, "Why did you choose me back then? Or would you have been fine with any man as long as he agreed after you caught him?"

Every time he brings up this question, Xuanji always just smiles without answering, and only when pressed does she sometimes say, "Hmm... probably because out of all the men in the room, I found you the most pleasing to the eye."

Obviously, such an answer never satisfied him, but in the end, their conversations would always conclude with a fierce, passionate kiss. When he held the sweat-soaked girl tightly in his arms, he couldn’t help recalling their first encounter four years ago.

His godfather was Liu Yihuan, a man who commanded respect and had widespread connections in both the underworld and legitimate circles. One day, he said to Yu Sifeng with deep earnestness, "You’re not young anymore. In this world today, a 21-year-old virgin is something to be laughed at to death. I feel embarrassed for you even if you don’t. The day after tomorrow there’s a gathering at my house, 7 o’clock in the evening, you must come. There will be several young ladies in their prime and single. If you can’t secure one of them, don’t come to see me ever again."

Yu Sifeng usually didn’t take such threats to heart, knowing his godfather was all talk with a soft heart; today’s words would be forgotten tomorrow. However, for some reason, he still went to the gathering on time that day, perhaps because as a lonely young man, there was always a restless side to his heart.

Social gatherings are much like one another, with fragrant dresses and elaborate hairstyles, toasts and exchanges, and everyone chatting about things that seem profound but aren’t. The playboys were busy hunting for beauty, the cunning and ambitious scheming for allies. The younger ones, who came in their parents’ glory, were busy being smitten with handsome men and pretty women, playing the love games of their age.

As the godson of the host, Liu Yihuan, Yu Sifeng was plied with a lot of alcohol. Though he had a good tolerance, it couldn’t withstand the barrage of white wine, red wine, and champagne mixed together. Taking advantage of a moment when he could still maintain his composure, he hastily excused himself to the restroom to escape the eager toast-givers.

Then, in the corner of the men’s restroom, he saw a girl.

Yu Sifeng’s first reaction was to apologize, flush with embarrassment and turn to leave, then he thought again – this was clearly marked for gentlemen only. So, he went back, and the girl was still standing motionless in the corner. Her figure was slender and delicate, dressed in a black cocktail dress, her waist barely wide enough to grasp. He asked her a question, but she didn’t move, as if she hadn’t heard.

Yu Sifeng’s second thought was that he had encountered a female ghost, and just as he prepared to fill a bucket with water to splash at the evil spirit, the girl suddenly moved. She slowly turned her head, her eyes bleary with sleep. She was actually standing asleep, right in the men’s restroom.

The girl was bright-eyed and white-teethed, her skin as white as milk. She looked at him bewilderingly, incessantly. The continuous gaze made Yu Sifeng’s skin crawl, and just when he was about to flee, she suddenly rushed over with her dress hiked up and grabbed his tie!

"How much do you charge for sleeping at your place one night?" she asked slowly, her voice tender.

Yu Sifeng laughed in astonishment, instinctively wanting to push her away forcefully, but his rationality did not allow him to act so disrespectfully towards a woman. He could only chuckle awkwardly and say, "Miss, you might have mistaken me for someone else... We don’t know each other."

Without so much as moving an eyebrow, she said indifferently, "I haven’t mistaken anyone. Indeed, I do not know you, but now we are acquainted, aren’t we? My name is Chu Xuanji, what’s yours?"

"I am Yu Sifeng," he replied instinctively, immediately regretting afterwards.

Xuanji inhaled, tugged his tie, and pulled him closer to whisper, "Alright then, Si Feng, how much do I owe for staying at your place for one night?"

A mess of confusion hit him, and he scarcely knew how to respond, laughing awkwardly, "Miss, you must be mistaken. I’m not a gigolo; I don’t take money..." Hmm? Something about that didn’t sound right. He intended to tell her he wasn’t a gigolo, but why did his words sound so peculiar once he spoke? What exactly was off about them...

While he was still struggling to figure it out, he heard her say, "I am not a weaver... and I’d feel terribly awkward not paying. So, I’ll have to trouble you."

She let go of his tie and politely shook his hand in a firm handshake. Just as Yu Sifeng was trying to seize the moment to flee, he saw something flash across her face – it was shiny, a few large teardrops fell, sliding over her beautiful cheeks to the tip of her chin.

She was crying.

And she cried without making a sound.

When Yu Sifeng returned home to prepare a bath for his strange guest, he still couldn’t help but curse himself for being impulsive. Why did he bring her back after seeing her cry so sadly? She looked to be underage, and if anything were to go wrong, he wouldn’t be able to wash himself clean even if he jumped into the Yellow River!

When she came out, Xuanji had already made herself at home by turning on his stereo system. The CD player was playing a foreign song, quite a sensual and intense melody. The dim light cast upon her figure, illuminating a patch of her nape, as pale as fine ivory, which made his heart skip a beat.

"Annie Lennox’s song," she suddenly spoke, turning to smile at him, like a flower bud on the verge of blooming in spring, "I know this one, ’Money Can’t Buy It.’ You actually have the CD. Lend it to me next time, Si Feng."

Her demeanor was so natural; the instant she called his name, it was as though they had known each other for a long time, without a hint of awkwardness.

What was wrong with him? Yu Sifeng lit a cigarette and stood on the balcony, puffing out smoke. She didn’t appear to have been drinking nor did she seem like she was on drugs. So beautiful and clean, speaking coherently and logically, she certainly couldn’t be mad. Yet, everything she did was so bizarre, and what was most terrifying was that he found himself getting caught up in the weirdness as well.

He put out his cigarette in the ashtray, turned around, and saw Xuanji, drenched from head to toe, hair soaking wet, standing there with just a towel wrapped around her. He was so startled he almost jumped off the balcony, "What are you doing?!" He nearly burst his throat yelling, guilty conscience without even having done anything wrong, and hurriedly closed the balcony door out of fear that someone would discover an underage girl hidden in his room.

"Lend me a shirt and trousers," she requested as naturally as if asking for a glass of water, "I don’t have any clothes to change into."

She was no ordinary girl; she might even come from a significant background, evident from her refusal to wear the same clothes after a bath. On top of that, while her behavior was odd, her manners were quite elegant, clearly well-raised, and most importantly, to be at a social gathering of Liu Yihuan’s caliber, she must be no ordinary individual.

After finishing his bath, Yu Sifeng emerged, vigorously rubbing his hair with a towel while pondering how to pry information from her, get the reasons why she followed him, and, ideally, find out her background so he could send her back tonight. It would be troublesome to offend anyone in this situation.

When he pushed the door open and walked out, that same song was still playing. Xuanji, dressed in his shirt and dress shorts, looked as though the clothes could fit another person her size. She was sitting on the bed, lost in thought, but smiled radiantly when she saw him.

"Let’s do it," she said, beckoning him with a curl of her finger.

Yu Sifeng immediately froze, staring at her as she approached him silently, like a cat, her cool hand landing on his shoulder— he pushed her away vehemently, a thunderous look on his face as he bellowed, "Have you had enough of being willful? You think you’re so sexy and rebellious? Go look in the mirror! A fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl playing at ONS!"

Xuanji seemed startled by his reaction, her eyes wide with surprise. Yu Sifeng furrowed his brows, lit another cigarette, and said sternly, "Change your clothes, tell me where you live, and I’ll take you home!"

She was neither scared nor upset, turned her head away, and after a while, said, "I’m already nineteen, not underage."

"I’m not interested either way!" He shouted again, as though it could mask his own unease.

Xuanji smiled faintly and whispered in a low voice, "Really not interested?" She softly sat on the bed, unbuckling her belt, and actually removed her pants first. Yu Sifeng instinctively tried to flee, but for some reason, his feet wouldn’t move.

Her legs were straight and long, radiating a pearl-like enchanting luster under the dim yellow light. He was a 21-year-old normal young man with normal desires, having seen plenty of certain magazines and small films, yet he swore those legs were the most beautiful he had ever seen.

Without a single flaw, they possessed the freshness of a young girl and the charm of a woman, pink and radiant. He suddenly felt as though the air conditioning in the room was malfunctioning as the temperature relentlessly climbed. He must be bewitched, as his gaze could not leave her body.

Xuanji lifted the hem of her long shirt—she wasn’t even wearing underwear, boldly exposing to him the most private parts of a young girl that should be guarded from easy view. Due to the lighting or perhaps his own psychological effect, he noticed the skin on the inside of her thigh was a different color, like a scar?

Pointing at the differently colored skin, she asked with a smile, "A burn scar, remember what happened?"

He felt as though he was in a dream, slowly shaking his head. She didn’t ask further, but unbuttoned her shirt one by one, opened it, slid it off, then calmly smiled at him, "Shall we do it?"

Yu Sifeng threw the towel on the sofa and slowly walked over, pressing down on her soft body. Her arms, supple and boneless, wrapped around him as she exhaled softly like a fragrant orchid, "Come on..." He looked carefully at her delicate face with lowered lashes, unable to resist caressing it with his fingers, and when he touched her lips, she suddenly bit lightly with a seductive look in her eyes.

He suddenly found himself losing self-control, lifting her face to kiss her passionately. Amidst the entangled kiss, she seemed to be shivering, but he could no longer care about that. Kissing down her face, feeling her skin as smooth as silk, freshly bathed emitting the scent of body wash, he would occasionally playfully bite hard enough to leave a red mark on her creamy skin.

Well, why not consider it as a one-night stand? He thought hazily, his godfather had told him not to remain a virgin any longer, and today would satisfy him. He awkwardly spread her legs apart, encircled at the waist, and whispered, "Are you really 19? Not lying to me?"

Xuanji’s face turned a flushed red, and she nodded silently.

Even if she was underage, he couldn’t stop now. He took hold of her waist, adjusted their position a bit, seemingly unsure, then bent down again to ask her, "What’s your name, say it again."

Her eyes were misty and pitiful like a lost kitten, murmuring, "Xuanji, my name is Chu Xuanji."

He nodded, pressing down on his waist, forcing himself in with effort. It was his first time too, with no real experience, all he felt was her alarming tightness. His back tensed, propping himself on top of her, he spoke softly, "Relax..." Perhaps the one who should relax the most was actually him. Not knowing the right force to use, he almost violently penetrated her, instantly engulfed by the warm, suffocating sensation, as if his entire body were wrapped within it.

She moaned softly below, with her legs shaking slightly, hooking around him as he began to thrust vigorously. The first time didn’t last very long, as he released quickly, panting heavily on top of her trembling body. After a while, his breathing eventually steadied, and with a touch of vexation, he nibbled on her ear lobe, whispering softly, "Without a condom, what should we do?"

Her voice seemed to become languid as well, "Take your medicine..." She shifted slightly and gently pushed him away. Yu Sifeng still savored that sensation, hooked his arm around her waist to pull her back, and softly asked, "Where are you going?" "To take a shower." Her eyes, clear-cut in black and white, quietly gazed at him, carrying a sort of pure white cleanliness.

He stood up, cradled her in his arms, and walked toward the bathroom, when he suddenly noticed something amiss on the bed. Turning his head, he saw a palm-sized bloodstain on the bedsheet. He was taken aback and blurted out, "You were a virgin?!" Xuanji spoke in a calm and methodical manner, "Yes, and you were a virgin. We’re even now."

He was so astonished that he found himself speechless, forced to take a fresh look at the young girl in his arms. She was like a riddle, a seductive and charming enigma, starting off on the level of a risqué video, without any place for pure intellectual exchange. Why had she sought him out? Why him?

Xuanji looped her arm around his neck with a murmuring whisper, "It’s so cold, are we going to the bathroom or not?"

He remained silent for a long while, then suddenly shook his head, turned around, and went back. He set her down on the bed and switched off the air conditioning. Xuanji sat innocently on the bed watching him, his gaze inscrutable, and it was only then that she felt a hint of fear, softly asking, "What’s... what’s wrong with you?"

He embraced her in one swift motion, pressing her beneath him, and whispered, "Let’s do it one more time."

But this time, he was in no rush to enter her body. His hands slowly caressed every inch of her curves, gently teasing her. With the air conditioning turned off, the room quickly heated up, and both of them began to sweat. Suddenly, she trembled when he touched a certain spot, "Don’t... don’t touch..." He seemed not to hear, his fingers carefully uncovered her secret garden, searching intently as if looking for some treasure.

It was as if her entire being was manipulated by the tips of his fingers, moaning when he willed it, gasping when he pleased. Her body suddenly wasn’t her own - she didn’t know to whom it belonged. His lips trailed kisses down her sweaty forehead and finally enveloped her earlobe, his tongue meticulously licking it. It was as if her body, like an orchid blooming at midnight, suddenly curled up, struggling to escape, only to be held from behind, his palm gliding over her flat belly to cover that moist area of seduction.

Hidden there was a treasure, tiny and sensitive, which he painstakingly uncovered, drawing circles around it. Xuanji let out a cry of panic, her body arching backward, supported by his other hand on her chin, as they kissed passionately, lips and teeth entwined. She didn’t know how she ended up lying back down on the bed, everything was a mess, she was completely out of control. In a daze, she found the wall light piercingly bright and, trembling, reached out to turn it off, only to have her wrist seized and pulled back by him, their fingers interlacing.

His movements were gentle, as if he was afraid of hurting her, and only gradually did he intensify his actions, causing her waist to arch and her breasts to bounce like little white rabbits. She felt she was about to fall into an abyss, at a loss, clinging to him, yet the closer she came to him, the more she fell.

Her hands could no longer clasp around his neck, her body leaned back, resting against the cold wall, swinging up and down, her fingers helplessly searching for the switch of the wall light. Yu Sifeng held her slender waist with one hand and drew her back to him, his forehead pressed against hers as he breathed, "What are you trying to do?"

Her voice trembled, "Turn off... the light..."

"No," he easily manipulated her delicate body, eliciting shivers and moans with each motion, a bead of perspiration tracing the contours of her body before halting on the crimson point of her breast. He enveloped it with his mouth, suckling gently, and then felt her body begin to twitch slightly, her legs suddenly wrapping around his waist. He immediately stopped, pressing her down on the bed, grasping her calves and lifting them high.

"Turn off the light... please..." she begged disjointedly, perhaps the position was too frightening, surpassing her imagination and threshold of acceptance, tears rolling down from the corners of her eyes.

"Don’t," he again uttered those two simple words. He couldn’t bear to part with her enraptured expression, that mixture of pain and forbearance, yet extreme joy—it was a gloriously beautiful sight to behold.

She had no more breath to speak, every pant turned into a sob-like moan. It was as though she was pushed by the tide, higher and higher, climbing incessantly. With nothing to grasp, she could only clutch his shoulders, her body spasming in waves like ripples from a distant tide, eventually breaking into fragments like twinkling stars.

Eventually, everything calmed down, and the two lay entwined, limbs interlocked; it took a long time before Yu Sifeng lazily carried her to the bathroom for a bath.

He remembered that day they made love four or five times; twice in the bathroom and again in the kitchen when they got up in the morning. They had just discovered the delights of lovemaking, completely uncontrollable, daring to try all kinds of strange positions—spending the night flipping and folding until they finally couldn’t move and fell into a deep sleep.

Yu Sifeng had entered this with the mindset of a passionate fling, never expecting to meet a girl like her again—that’s what he thought. That brief encounter and the fervent love that followed were not enough to develop what one would call love. Although he couldn’t forget her, if there was no fate, then it was something helpless. All he knew was that her name was Chu Xuanji; who she really was, or what she did, he had no idea.

So, he just had to treat it as a wonderful spring dream.

But as to whether there was fate or not, it wasn’t for him to say, it was for the heavens to decide. The second time he met Xuanji was at Tengshe’s birthday banquet. Tengshe was the only son of a business tycoon; temperamental but talented, his straightforward nature also won him many friends.

When Yu Sifeng arrived, his eyes immediately found Xuanji sitting by the piano. The world was truly wondrous; amidst so many people, ladies in luxurious dresses, gentlemen in crisp suits and tailcoats, how could he spot her at first glance?

Today she was in a pearl-white cocktail dress with long sashes trailing on the floor and a lily pinned to her chest, as refreshingly pure as the first dew of morning. Even as Yu Sifeng exchanged pleasantries with others, he couldn’t bear to take his eyes off her, fearing that in a moment of inattention, she would disappear like the morning dew.

Finally, he approached her, placed the golden champagne glass on the silver grand piano and gestured for her to drink. Seeing him, Xuanji just smiled, the corners of her lips lifting into sweet dimples. She was playing a familiar jazz tune he couldn’t name; the melody was slow and melodious, like a shaded path on a sunny afternoon, the sunlight sprinkling down like broken gold on the gravel path.

"Are you the pianist?" he asked, incredulous, as she finished playing and continued flipping through the sheet music.

Xuanji thought for a moment, then picked up the champagne glass, took a sip, and said slowly, "Mm, you could say I’m the pianist."

He felt a sudden urge to laugh and asked her, "Are you free tonight?" He meant to invite her to dinner.

After a moment’s thought, Xuanji replied, "I’m free at 9. Can you wait for me there?" She named a hotel, the best five-star in town.

Yu Sifeng nodded in agreement. Since he had a destined encounter with a beautiful woman, he was determined to get to know her properly, perhaps there would be a chance to take things further.

He arrived on time at 9 o’clock, waited in the lobby for nearly half an hour, when suddenly a waiter handed him a note with only a room number written on it. Yu Sifeng immediately understood, his heart pounding wildly, unsure whether he should go or not.

That wasn’t his original intention. But... oh well.

That night they indulged countless times again. He didn’t turn on the light, entwining with her to the point of death in the darkness, sensing her slender body emitting a faint white glow in the night that reminded him of the lily tucked over her chest. He turned over and lay down, pulling her onto himself in an embrace.

He liked watching her during this process, watching her quivering breasts, her streaming sweat, her peach-colored skin, her dazed eyes. It was like a different kind of pleasure from making love, giving him a completely different sensation.

She quickly mastered the technique on top, her waist flexible like a snake, making him feel as if he would melt inside her. He didn’t even want to imagine what it would be like to be with another woman, as if she was the only one meant for him, regardless of whether this was some kind of virgin complex or not, no one else would do besides her.

He wanted to understand her, why she chose him that night, why she cried, why her piano sounded like broken sunshine. He really wanted to know her, to possess her, beyond just sex.

The third time he saw her, he finally understood her identity, one of the two heiresses of the Shaoyang Group’s chairman. This was indeed a daunting identity, signifying that she had grown up with a silver spoon and never lacked for anything.

It was a private gathering that day, and her family was there. Yu Sifeng sat alone in a chair far away, looking at her hair piled high, and the glimpse of her fair neck revealed behind it, suddenly feeling as if they were worlds apart.

So distant, really distant. She could effortlessly have anything she wanted, but was he also within the range of her "wants"?

Though their bodies had been in the closest contact, their hearts were tens of thousands of miles apart. He didn’t know her at all, and she didn’t know him at all either. Even if their bodies were close and their hugs tight, it wouldn’t bring their hearts any closer.

Yu Sifeng put down his wine glass and suddenly felt tired. Without saying goodbye, he walked straight out to the courtyard outside and lit a cigarette. Tonight was a full moon, frighteningly large as if it could crash down at any moment. He exhaled a puff of smoke and suddenly heard a faint sound of footsteps behind him. Without even turning around, he could call out her name, "Xuanji."

That young lady’s steps were light like a sprite’s, walking over with a smile, she sat down beside him and started playing with his box of matches.

Yu Sifeng looked at her delicate white fingers and suddenly remembered how, on a particular night, those hands had gripped him tightly, moving up and down, finally stained with her fluids. His throat tightened, he couldn’t help but grab her fingers and whispered, "You’re Chairman Chu’s daughter, I just found out."

Xuanji smiled casually, lightly saying, "Yes, and I also just found out that you’re the crown prince of Lize Palace."

He laughed wryly, "Is there anyone stranger than us in the world? Completely unacquainted, yet so natural."

Xuanji just smiled, not saying anything. Yu Sifeng’s fingers intertwined with hers, as if he had made up his mind, he said, "Are you free tomorrow? I want to take you out for dinner."

She nodded readily, "Sure, no problem."

Yu Sifeng said softly, "Let’s assume... we just met today, and start over. I’ll pursue you."

He fully expected his romantic words to elicit a shy smile from the beautiful woman, but she paused for a moment, then suddenly showed a mischievous smile, saying, "For me, everything started a long time ago, and it has always been me pursuing you."

What did she mean? Yu Sifeng didn’t understand at all, in fact, he didn’t understand to this very day.

He was a fool, of course he didn’t understand. Xuanji, with a smile, watched him fret over this question, reminded of one summer afternoon when she mistakenly chose a steaming coffee from the vending machine, and had to sit in the plaza waiting for it to cool before drinking it.

Someone suddenly bumped into her from the side, coffee spilling all over her, almost instantly scalding her. She was about to scream from the pain and stand up to demand an explanation, but then she saw that person rush forward to help an elderly man who had fainted from heatstroke.

Maybe that’s what’s called love at first sight? She didn’t understand the flavor of love at first sight described in romance novels, all she remembered in that moment was his sweaty face, straight nose, and determined eyes.

Anyway, making love is the ultimate result of a man and woman’s relationship, no exceptions. She couldn’t be bothered with all the pretense and went straight to the final stage. Clearly, Xuanji herself didn’t think there was anything remarkable about it; whether to date first and make love later, or make love first and then date, there was no difference on face value, only the order was different.

Yes, that’s right, for her, love didn’t have a set sequence; the flowers that bloomed in the end were all the same.

It was that simple.
