Love and Debt -
Chapter 131: End of a Debt
Chapter 131: End of a Debt
It was a hot summer day when Andrew and Nina decided to exchange their vows again. The first one was in Paris with just a few of their friends present.
But now, all their friends and families were there. It was also being broadcasted by Media Tech and Carter Media so everyone could witness the grandest wedding of the year.
Nina was in the prep room where she waited to be called. Her heart couldn’t stop pounding, not because she was worried, but she felt so happy that it was almost suffocating.
"Nina!" Her sister Nika ran toward her.
She smiled as she looked at her sister wearing a purple off-shoulder floor length gown. Then Naomi, her other sister came in followed by her parents.
"You’re so beautiful, Nina!" Naomi exclaimed.
Her mother didn’t say a word but her eyes were filled with tears. She looked at her father and saw him crying.
"Why are you crying? I was her wife before." She chuckled.
"We’re happy for you, of course. And we didn’t witness your first and second marriage so for us, this is the first." Nika couldn’t hide her excitement.
Her mother gently slapped Nika on the shoulder.
"The second one doesn’t count so don’t mention that again."
"Hey, that’s fine. This is a special day for me and Andrew, let’s not ruin it."
Her mom and her two sisters embraced her tight. Nika and Naomi left while her mother distanced herself from her and her father.
"Aren’t you going to say something?"
Her dad sighed. "I honestly don’t know what to say. Ever since you sold yourself to Andrew, I blamed myself. I ruined us. I broke your mother’s trust and yours. I’m really sorry."
She let out a deep breath and smiled at her father.
"Dad, that’s all in the past. If it didn’t happen, maybe I would have never met Andrew and Brie wouldn’t be here. It started with a debt, but everything has been paid. We’re happy now and we’re going to be a family so can you do me a favor and stop blaming yourself?"
She let herself stay in his father’s arms and she didn’t realize that it felt so warm. He kissed her on the forehead and they both wiped their tears when the bride’s attendant called them.
"Are you ready?" Her father asked as he extended his hand to her.
She smiled. "Yes."
Nina’s anticipation was so high as she prepared to walk down the aisle. Her parents walked beside her until they reached the grand entrance of the hall.
Two attendants slowly opened the door and the first she saw was Andrew standing at the end of the aisle. He was patiently waiting for her with a huge smile on his face.
When she took her first step, the wedding march echoed inside. A moment of happiness washed over her as Andrew stared straight at her. The warmth of his gaze penetrated her skin and she couldn’t wait to be beside him.
The white flowers on the aisle were exquisite and breathtaking as well as the minimalist design of the place. The ceiling had big chandeliers surrounded with droplets of lights. It was her dream wedding so she was the one who requested everything.
When she was just a feet away from Andrew, he reached out her hand and planted a small kiss on it.
The look on their eyes as they stared at each other was proof of how they truly love each other. They were both imagining their lives in the future.
Andrew was the first to say his vows. He smiled at her and let out a deep breath. She giggled because she knew how nervous he was.
"My love, this may be our second time to get married, but for me, it felt like the first time. Those wonderful years that we spent together, I will always cherish them. I will always be thankful that I met you even though you threw water at me on our first meeting. That day was too memorable to forget." He chuckled and everyone also laughed about it. "I don’t know how to thank you for giving me a beautiful and smart daughter like Brie. Being her father was a blessing. We may have our ups and downs, but I promise to stay and love you in this life and the next. I love you so much and I will never love anyone else, but you."
Andrew put the ring on her finger and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
Finally, it was her turn. Her heart was still pounding as she took the microphone from him.
"Love, you always thank me for giving you Brie. But I should be the one thanking you. From the day we met, you never failed to love me unconditionally. I left you and broke our first vows, but your love for me remained. The people who know you as Andrew Cross, they don’t know how amazing you are. You have a big heart my love, and I am so blessed to have you." She paused when tears started falling from her eyes.
Andrew wiped her tears and held her hands tight.
"Not everyone knows how we started. But I won’t be feeling ashamed of it. It all started with a debt, and I never imagined that we would fall in love. It was a genuine love deeper than the ocean, higher than the blue sky and pure as the white roses. My love for you will not be the same as today because as I spent my days with you, it grows stronger and deeper. I want to laugh and cry with you. I want to listen and sing a song with you. I want to take long drives with you and away from everyone else. When we grow old, I want to sit on a lawn during rainy days unde a shed and see your wrinkled face smiling at me. And I want to stay by your side, holding your hand tight until the end of our journey." She took the ring from Brie and put it on his finger.
"Andrew Cross, I will take you as my husband forever until eternity."
It was indeed a roller coaster ride, but it was worth it. It started with a debt but ended with pure love.
