Chapter 109: Lucas

Chapter 109: Lucas

Primrose had a small playground and a mini park a few minutes away from the Wilson’s mansion. In the swing was a little girl quietly sobbing while looking at the house below.

A few days ago, she finally met her biological father. Ever since she found out that James was not her real father, she wondered why her parents separated before she was born. She was happy to see them get back together.

But she learned about the truth of what happened four years ago. Her mother betrayed her father and their friends. She left him with a divorce paper and married James Santelmo.

She was thankful to James because he took care of her and her mother. The man treated her like his real daughter and even risked his life for them. She grew up in a world full of anger and hatred. She was a young girl, but she knew that the family she grew up with was a Mafia Clan.

She felt guilty for her father, friends, families, and people whose lives were lost that day. She looked at it on the internet, but there was no article or news about what really happened inside the castle of Flousia.

She wanted to see the twins, Lucas and Alira, and Caden. But she’s scared that they would hate her because of what her mother did. She heard Caden and Alira were engaged but got separated because of what happened. Alira had PTSD, and Lucas seemed distant and wanted to mature early.

She wanted to get mad at her mother, but she couldn’t. She loved her mom very much, and she understood why she decided to betray everyone.

"B-But you’re still stupid, mom. Daddy loves you. A-And y-your friends seemed nice. Look at Uncle Luke’s house! It’s h-huge! I-I’m sure he’s rich, and daddy has a lot of money, too. Why did you have to be so stupid?" She sobbed.

She knew her mom would scold her for saying those words, but she felt like she needed to at least say it out loud.

"You’re the stupid one."

Brie was startled when she heard someone’s voice behind her. She turned to see who it was and saw a little boy with black hair and blue eyes walking towards the other swing. She didn’t say a word while watching the boy sit on the swing.

"You’re alone and speaking to yourself. You’re stupid." He said.

She sniffled. "W-What do you know of what I’ve been dealing with to talk to me like that?"

"Well, I know you run away from home. But you can’t just go out of Primrose. The guards are all over this place." The boy said.

"But there are no guards in here." She said, turning her head around the park.

The boy chuckled. "That’s because I asked my dad not to let anyone come in at night. This is my hiding place."

"Y-Your dad? Y-You mean, Uncle Luke?" She asked.

The boy nodded. That’s when she realized that she was talking with one of the Wilson twins. The boy was Lucas Wilson.

"Y-You’re Lucas." She whispered.

"Yeah. I always come here when I am annoyed with someone, especially my sister."

"You don’t like your sister?"

"No. I loved my sister very much. But seeing her stressing out because of Caden, it’s annoying."

"C-Caden? The crown prince?"

"Huh? Prince, my ass! He hid in Flousia to get protected by some royal guards and left my sister here! He promised to be with her, but he broke it."

She bit her lips, feeling guilty again. It was her mom’s fault and not Caden’s.

"It’s not his fault. It’s the Mafia and my mom’s fault. You shouldn’t get mad at him."

"Do you think I didn’t know that? Your mom betrayed my parents."

She suddenly felt scared when she saw Lucas’ expression change. His blue eyes that sparkled earlier like the sky somehow looked so dull in her eyes.

"I-I’m sorry." She said with her eyes on the ground.

"Whatever. Just go home. They are all looking for you."

"Do you hate me?" She suddenly asked.

Lucas turned to her. "Mom said to forgive your mom and forget everything that happened. I promised her, so I already forgave your mom. She said to be nice to you. But that doesn’t mean I have to like you."

She nodded. At least he promised to be nice to her. That’s enough for her.

Lucas was ten, and she was four. They both grew up in a complicated family. She felt that Lucas didn’t like her, but her heart felt light when talking to him.

"You’re kind."

Lucas frowned. "What? Me? Kind? Maybe. Four years ago. Now, all I could think of was revenge."

"Y-You want to kill the Mafia?"

Lucas nodded. "Benjamin Miller. I heard he’s the boss. He killed innocent people and messed up our lives. My parents, your parents, Alira, Caden, you, and I are all Benjamin’s pawns."

"W-What do you mean, pawns?" She asked.

"This is his game. And we are the players. Do you think he will stop hurting us? No. He won’t. No one on both sides admitted defeat. I heard my parents talking about him. They were trying to find him. He needed to be found at all cost because dad said Benjamin is planning something big."

Brie’s heart pounded by Lucas’ words and reaction. She knew he wasn’t bluffing. The Mafia boss was a dangerous man that they needed to capture.

"I-If they catch him, can we live happily ever after?" She asked innocently.

Lucas stared at the little girl on the other swing. She looked innocent and naïve. He heard her parents talking about her and said that she might know one of the places Benjamin could be hiding. When he learned that she had run away, he wanted to find her and force her to tell him about Benjamin Miller.

Looking at her now, asking that question. He knew she really knew something about the man who caused pain to his twin sister.
