Chapter 108: Missing
"So they decided to visit us instead?" Andrew asked Nina.
He picked her up after meeting with the girls. She told him about what had happened and was excited that their friends would visit them.
"Yes. They will bring the twins to meet Brie. I told them she can’t meet them yet, but Alora said everything’s okay and Brie should not feel that way."
Andrew sighed. "Do you think we made the right choice? I mean, I felt like we told her so early about what happened to us four years ago."
"Hey, don’t worry about it. Brie is a smart kid, and she’s stronger than me. You know, whenever I feel down, she always prepares a meal for me. She tried hard to make me smile, and she would tell me that everything would be okay. She’s young, but she already knew how to cope with something like this." She said to lessen Andrew’s worries.
"I don’t know how to be a father to her. I’m still learning. You’re amazing for taking care of her alone."
Andrew knew that Nina wasn’t the only one who cared for Brie, but he could not accept that James was there when his ex-wife and daughter were at their lowest. He was thankful for the guy, but he would never compliment him in front of Nina.
It was ten in the evening when they entered Primrose. They planned to have the kids meet in the evening, but they overlooked the time, so they decided to do it the next day.
Inside Primrose, you could only see five mansions that belonged to the wealthiest families in Northbay City. The Cross’, the Jackson’s, and the Richards’ owned the three smaller mansions. The bigger one was owned by the King and Queen of Flousia, Kyle and Emily. And the biggest mansion located at the top of the hill was owned by the Wilson’s.
Primrose was a property owned by someone else, but when they were young, Andrew and the others promised to buy the whole place to build their family and their dream houses there.
After graduation, the five boys bought Primrose and started building their dreams. It wasn’t a private area; it was open to everyone who could afford it. But years passed, and no one could buy it because of its high value.
The men of Primrose didn’t care about it at first. They bought it for their families, and selling some of the lots was just secondary.
The whole place was secured and protected by AE Corporation, founded by Luke Wilson. No one could enter freely unless you were invited by one of the owners of the mansions.
Nina looked around; some things never changed. She thought to herself.
Primrose was still as majestic as before. The trees and the flowers surrounding the area were well-taken care of. The cleanliness of the place was maintained by the employees. The guards were roaming around the area, continuously checking if there was any suspicious activity inside.
Luke Wilson was overprotective of his wife and kids. No one could blame him because Alora was kidnapped when they were young, making her forget him for years and getting dissociative identity disorder after a traumatic incident.
When another attack happened in Flousia, causing Alira to have PTSD, Luke became more strict than ever.
Nina sighed. She leaned her head on the window and admired the beauty of Primrose. The lights on the way to their house were bright, and they could clearly see if someone was sneaking inside the area.
When she saw their home, a sudden fear consumed her. It was already past ten, but the whole mansion was lit up. Even the rooms had lights on, making her confused.
"Andrew, why are the lights still on?" She asked, worried.
Andrew frowned. He didn’t answer, but Nina’s heart started pounding when Andrew suddenly drove faster towards their house. She didn’t stop him. She wanted to get home as much as possible because she felt something had happened to Brie and her family.
She felt so agitated and was biting her lips when the mansion’s gate opened. When Andrew parked the car, they both went out and ran inside.
Nina’s mom was pacing back and forth while her sisters were sitting on the sofa in the living room. They looked so edgy, so they knew something had happened.
"Mom? What happened? Where’s Brie?" She asked.
Her mom was startled and glanced at her sisters first. When Nina got closer, her mom started sobbing.
"Nina, she’s missing. Brie is missing."
Nina was shocked. She felt like cold water was poured on her body, and she couldn’t move.
"Tell us what happened?" It was Andrew who looked so calm.
"A-After dinner, she went upstairs, so we thought she was in her room. I came to bring her vitamins, but she wasn’t there. No one noticed her walking outside of the house."
"Did someone check all the CCTV cameras inside and outside the house?" Andrew asked again.
"Your father-in-law went to Barry to check all the cameras. They will be here any minute." Her mom answered.
Barry was the man responsible for all the surveillance cameras in and out of Primrose. He was one of the guards Andrew and the others trusted so much.
"Okay. Then let’s wait for them. I’m sure she just went out to play." Andrew calmly said.
Nina saw Andrew was calm, but she felt the restlessness in his actions. She bit her lips and held his hand, cold as ice. She knew he was scared that something wrong might happen to Brie.
Andrew looked at Nina’s worried face and then reached out his hand to touch her chin. He smiled at her, and she smiled back. They understood that they needed to calm down in a situation like this.
For the first time in four years, Nina felt that she wasn’t alone anymore. Andrew was with her, and together they will find their daughter and bring her home.
