Chapter 269: Chapter 269 Start to fight
She was about to turn him down when RK’s gaze stopped her.
To be honest, she did not have any clothes in her mind she wanted. She was not a person who was fond of wearing new clothes. In short, she did not want to owe him anything in their fake marriage. Once Sophia recovered, she would leave in peace for France and never return.
By then, she would assume as if RK had never appeared in her life.
From then on, they were just passersby.
"Ding."
Stella was pulled back to reality by the sound of the elevator.
Oh, it turned out that she had arrived at the top floor.
The lunch period was relatively short. Else, she might as well visit the hospital to take care of Adrian. If she had known, she would have paid a visit to Adrian even if the time was short. At least, she would not have to find herself facing RK’s ugly face.
After arriving at the president’s office, Stella knocked on the door. In response, no one answered. After another series of knocks, there was still no reply.
It just so happened that she didn’t want to meet RK’s either, so she might as well leave. It wasn’t that she hadn’t been there anyway. The surveillance camera was there to testify for her.
"Come in."
As soon as Stella turned around and was about to leave, RK’s voice drifted out of the office.
Stella had no choice but to push the door open and enter.
RK was having his lunch.
"Why are you looking for me?" Stella inquired. "If there is nothing else, I will head downstairs for lunch!"
The building was obviously different from the main RK group she visited before, but the decoration of his office was identical to the room they had dinner in. It was enough to show that he did not prefer style changes.
"It’s nothing. Take your seat and eat."
Stella walked over to RK and found that there was a lunchbox across from him. The lunch box was filled with her previous favorite dishes.
It was a pity that she might not love what she used to.
"I think it isn’t appropriate for the president and his subordinate to sit at the same dining table. I should go the canteen." Stella politely refused.
Yet, it was clear that RK wouldn’t fall for her tricks.
"I am the president of the office. Whatever I say is appropriate. At least in this building, it’s the case."
Stella had no choice but to obey by selling at the table for the meal.
Halfway through the meal, RK raised his head to find that she had never tasted any of the tomatoes on the plate.
"Are the tomatoes not delicious today?" Very naturally, RK took out a piece of tomato from her lunch box. "Don’t you love tomatoes?"
...As if he knew her like the back of his hand.
"Adrian doesn’t like it, so I gradually stop eating tomatoes," Stella explained.
RK didn’t reply. The two of them continued with their long, quiet lunch.
Both of them know that although the scene and the partner they were enjoying the meal with were the same as before, their state of mind was different. Their attitudes and thoughts were all different.
"Were you happy with Adrian living in France?"
After a long while, RK broke the silence.
Subconsciously, Stella stopped eating.
He was willing to ask her about her life in France, which showed that he had accepted the fact that she had taken care of Adrian over such a long period.
"Happy. Very much so." Speaking of Adrian, Stella chattered nonstop. "That was the case. Although life was tough back then. To buy him milk for breakfast, we often shared a meal at noon. Although we didn’t seem to be full, Adrian’s height and weight showed no sign of a halt in development either. Back then, Adrian was a cheerful and constantly laughing kid. When he attended kindergarten, it was as though he was the king of them, to the point where the group of tall children in France was under his leadership. Like a gang boss, he would show up on time every afternoon to pick me up from work."
Speaking of Adrian’s glorious deeds in France in the early years... Stella blabbered on. Her love for Adrian was beyond words.
"Compared with X City, I think Adrian probably like life in France more." Stella sighed. "If I had known earlier, I would rather resign than returned to X City. Adrian will still be the King of children in France. It was great to grow up happily with a group of children."
RK appeared to be displeased by her words. He placed his spoon aside and raised his solemn gaze to meet Stella’s eyes.
"I think a child will live a happier life with the father’s company."
"No, no, Adrian is not happy. I can feel lit." Stella retorted.
"You wouldn’t allow him to live by my side. How do you know that he will be down and depressed?"
"If he was indeed delighted, he would not hide all his emotions and not tell me, even after being bullied in kindergarten. Adrian was always been a cheerful and optimistic child. Why won’t you give him the chance to grow up in peace and happiness?"
Stella and RK were born to be opposites. In a mere few words, after their conversation started, a fight threatened a breakout.
The silent cold war began to spread.
