Chapter 268: Chapter 268 Let’s have lunch together

When Stella went in, RK was resting on the sofa. It seemed that he had fallen asleep from exhaustion with a thin layer of sweat on his forehead. It seemed that he had been in pain before she arrived. She dared not to wake him up. Instead, she poured him a cup of hot water and then set it aside to cool down so that it was in time for him to take his medicine after he woke up.

Immediately, after she fetched him his quilt and tucked him in. After her eyes scanned him for some time, she found that he seemed that he wouldn’t wake any sooner. Perhaps he was too tired, so Stella decided against waiting. She set the medicine and the glass of water on the table in front of him. Just as she was about to leave, he woke up from stirring in his sleep.

"Well, you didn’t bring the medicine, so I..." It seemed that she couldn’t cover up the fact that she showed concern for him, so she made up her mind to explain at all. "Hurry up and take your medicine. I will take my leave!"

"Wait a minute! I have got my men to buy lunch. Join me for the meal." RK cleared his throat before extending his invitation for Stella to have lunch with him.

"Oh!" Stella obediently took her seat.

Before long, the assistant who bought lunch returned.

After entering the president’s lounge, the assistant was bewildered to find that except for the president, there was an unfamiliar girl around.

He has never seen anyone enter the president’s lounge. Why was it that the girl appeared all of a sudden? Not to mention how he had never seen the girl, she seemed to be an honest and obedient one, clearly not the president’s cup of tea...

Stella said nothing although catching a glimpse of the confusion on the assistant’s face. Instead, she silently trailed behind RK up the table.

After the assistant delivered the lunch boxes, he left the president’s office.

Upon leaving, he began to carefully ponder on it and fail to come up with an explanation. It was just then he ran into Alex returning to work after his meal, he couldn’t help but probe into it.

"Hey, Alex, who is that girl in the president’s lounge? Why haven’t I seen her before?"

"Since it’s none of your business, don’t probe around. After all, she isn’t someone you can afford to offend," Alex advised. "Stop being a snoop."

"Alas, Alex you don’t have to keep it secret, do you? Just tell me, will you?" The assistant was clearly not one to give up easily. Pestering Alex, it was as if he would do anything it cost to learn about the inside story.

"Alas, fine, fine, I will give you a hint!" Alex helplessly compromised as he went to say, "You know that the president is married, don’t you? Have you ever seen what the president’s wife looks like?"

"You mean..." The assistant’s mouth fell wide agape he could shove an apple into it. Hearing the words, he left in embarrassment.

Alex also returned to his workplace.

Having lunch with RK at the same table, Stella couldn’t help feeling awkward no matter how hard she tried to settle herself down. It felt much more comfortable for her to enjoy her lunch back home. Indeed, it was a test of courage for her to sit at the same dining table as RK.

"Shall I have my lunch at home?" After some careful contemplation, Stella tentatively asked.

"I have notified the servants at home that there is no need to prepare the lunch today. Are you sure you want to go home for lunch?"

Sure enough, she knew that she would suffer a ruthless rejection.

Stella had no choice but to obediently settled down while waiting for RK to set the dishes on the table.

During lunch, the corners of Stella’s eyes sneaker glances at it RK. He was as calm as before, savoring every bite slowly and steadily as if there was not the slightest emotion he had for the mouthwatering food before his eyes.

Back then, Stella was curious about what could move RK. She knew that it wasn’t her, nor should it be anyone else ordinary.

"Why don’t you eat? Will you be full from staring at me all day long?" RK didn’t raise his gaze, but he was keenly aware of her minor actions.

"No, I won’t." Stella sheepishly lowered her head and dug in. Throughout the entire process, she kept her head lowered without raising his head to look at RK, so it was for sure that she had no idea about RK’s penetrating gaze fixated on her.

Her furry little head, with a few strands of hair standing on their ends, led to others feeling as if she was an innocent girl who didn’t know what was going on, reminding others of her being full of vigor and youth. He didn’t understand. They were sisters, but why was there such a big difference between her and Sophia? One was narcissistic and wore heavy makeup all day long, never stepping out of the door if she were not to have makeup on. On the other hand, the other knew nothing about makeup. After getting up and brushing up, she wouldn’t have such complicated procedures in getting dressed. She could leave the house after a casual face wash and a bag over her shoulders. Bare-faced, she had never wasted time in dressing herself up.

RK’s idea was simple. His thought of Sophia’s heavy makeup wasn’t to the point of disgust, but it was confirmed that he disliked it. In comparison to the uncomfortableness he had for the glossy red lips and Sophia’s pale face, he preferred Stella’s bare face.

Since Stella married into the Kingston family, she seemed not to have ever bought new stuff. Her clothes were old and faded, her White shirt and jeans turning her into a student. There were never clothes like dresses or hot pants in her closet. She had never attended a party or a dinner party as his companion. It was as if she knew that she had borrowed the identity of Mrs. RK.

Her caution was as if she was treading on thin ice. He could notice all of her worries, so he didn’t want to add any burden or pressure on her. As long as she behaved as a member of the Kingston family, she was allowed to do as she pleased.

The lunch went on in eerie silence. It was so quiet that she could hear the ticking of the clock. Time extended to the point where she felt as if she wouldn’t able to finish her meal no matter how hard she tried.

Finally, RK was all done. Stella followed along by placing the spoon aside.

"I guess I will be heading home then." After cleaning up the bowls and chopsticks, Stella finally has a sigh of relief. Without a moment’s really, she stepped out of the lounge after bidding farewell to RK.

"Tell Madam Cassidy about your favorite style of clothes. She will add new clothing to your clothes." Before she could leave, RK threw out the words.
