Chapter 388: Chapter 373 Famine Monster
“I can’t fly!”
That’s the thought that was screaming in Locke’s mind.
Although he was a demon hunter approaching professional level, flying was not among his extraordinary abilities. He could only watch as he plummeted downward like a meteor, shattering the vast white clouds and falling towards the ground with the high-altitude airstream.
Soon enough, a familiar yet strange scene appeared before his eyes—the “Weia Castle” from another perspective.
It was called a “castle” because the city was transformed from a fortress.
However, after generations of pioneers’ efforts, the military atmosphere in the city had nearly vanished, replaced by charming landscapes, a climate and terrain suitable for human habitation, and a rich cultural ambiance.
Different from Secret Phoenix City and Messer City, it was neither big nor small, but a beautiful and peaceful city.
It’s a pity that recently, a cult organization had emerged here.
“Boom~ Whoosh~”
Locke struggled to keep his eyes open, and in the next moment, he saw the busy farm below rapidly approaching.
His landing spot was just behind the farm.
“I wonder if my strength will be enough to withstand this fall?”
The thought suddenly surged in Locke’s heart.
Before he could properly estimate his chances, a hand suddenly appeared on his shoulder.
Fog Body!
The transcendent skill, which he had used less and less frequently, was once again deployed by Tang Qi.
Initially, Tang Qi’s biggest reliance was the power he had obtained through the “Fog Body” secret medicine.
But this skill had significant flaws.
It could almost completely avoid physical forces.
However, it couldn’t withstand the impact of magic or witchcraft, nor could it cope with powerhouses like Hall, whose physical force had also broken through certain limits.
Hence, as time went on, Tang Qi gradually used it less.
But in this situation, Fog Body was extremely appropriate.
The two men’s figures turned into mist and slowly drifted down, to then solidify into bodies on the ground.
“Where is the Lutson family estate?”
After Locke overcame the dizziness in his mind, he heard Tang Qi’s question.
He swiftly raised his head, quickly identified their location, and a hint of amazement flashed in his eyes.
“This is Penny Farm. With official assistance, we’ve confirmed the Lutson family’s temporary residence, but the Federation’s Transcendents have been pulled away to deal with a massive pollution incident, leaving us without the strength to attack that abandoned village.”
“The original name doesn’t matter, now it’s called Lutson Village.”
Locke pointed in a direction as he spoke.
Conspicuously, it was away from the farm, and the faintly visible city in the opposite direction—down a desolate highway, extending to the barren end of a forest where the view beyond was completely obscured.
It was still early morning, but that area seemed to be perpetually shrouded in dark clouds. The intense sunlight only highlighted some contours, making it appear even more eerie in contrast to other places.
At the intersection of the highway and other paths, Tang Qi saw warning signs, and occasionally some police patrol cars drove by from a distance.
The excuse on the warning signs was blatantly: Chemical leak, danger—entry prohibited.
Tang Qi gave a glance and withdrew his gaze, once again locking eyes with Locke, he smiled and said, “Perhaps before we take action, it would be wise for me to meet Mr. Raymond.”
…
Half an hour later, in a cottage on the outskirts of Weia Castle, a fair distance from Penny Farm, Tang Qi met with all the members of the “Blue Lion Society”—less than ten people in total, six men and four women, each one a Transcendent.
Upon seeing their leader, a look of surprise immediately crossed Tang Qi’s face.
This was a burly, dark-skinned old man with naturally curly hair braided into plaits, his features exuded a valiant air, his nose was exceptionally large, and he seemed to always wear a smile, his eyes sparkled with wisdom.
What shocked Tang Qi was the garb the man wore—clearly belonging to a minority ethnicity, and one that felt very familiar to Tang Qi.
“Mr. Raymond!”
Tang Qi was the first to speak, not in Federation General Language, but in an ethnic minority language.
Mohawk Language!
He had previously unlocked one of the contents of the Mysterious Hair Tie, a gift from a girl of the Mohawk Tribe.
A language he learned automatically, without the need to study.
Clearly, Mr. Raymond himself did not know that Tang Qi could speak Mohawk Language, which after all is a minority language, with not many people in the entire Federation able to use it fluently—especially someone like Tang Qi, who spoke it as fluently as a native tongue, which was indeed quite strange.
The Mohawk old man called “Raymond” responded in Mohawk Language, and after a brief exchange, the atmosphere warmed up.
Although it was their first meeting, there was considerable disparity in their status, and with Tang Qi’s proficiency in the old man’s mother tongue, it was only natural for the old man from the Mohawk Tribe to believe that Tang Qi, a Big Shot, had some cultural connection with the Mohawk Tribe.
The initially minimal reluctance quickly dissipated.
In fact, they did have a connection; due to the girl’s gift, Tang Qi had a degree of fondness for the Mohawk Tribe.
And for someone like Raymond, who had expertise in certain areas of Knowledge akin to a Wise Man, Tang Qi held even more respect.
After taking over the school, Tang Qi had gone through many documents, including many collaborators of the Witch School – the Blue Lion Society being one among them. Therefore, he was well aware that this old man not only possessed great intelligence but also specialized in concocting Secret Medicine and had respectable Combat Skills.
After their exchange, the air turned solemn. Led by Raymond, Tang Qi and the others went to the rear of the house into a sealed chamber completely covered with various symbols and patterns.
Tang Qi glanced at those Runes, roughly discerning their purpose for Sealing and isolation.
At the center of the chamber lay a corpse.
A familiar, sinister corpse, whose gender, ethnicity, and age could no longer be discerned.
Skull-like head, twisted limbs, gaunt body, hair that fell and floated down, bulging eyes as if filled with pus, and the dry bloodstains at the corners of the mouth… it was unmistakably the Famine Monster that he had previously seen pacing slowly within the Blood Maze.
“Boom”
Even with the Sealing Runes guarding against it, a mere glance was enough for a wave of intense fear to begin spreading wildly, almost compelling a person to scream and wail.
Unfortunately, such rudimentary Pollution could not affect Tang Qi at all.
With a mere flicker of his mind, he crushed the invading fear.
“Our member, before their sacrifice, had slain a Monster, but the Lutson family did not retrieve it. Instead, left it at the site, seemingly hoping the contaminating force within it would pollute the Discoverers as well, but they failed,” Mr. Raymond explained as Tang Qi scanned the area.
“Hu”
With his gaze concentrated, a ghost light suddenly surged forth.
A special scene gradually materialized.
