Chapter 331: Chapter 326 Turmoil (Seeking monthly tickets!)
Whether it’s the official institutions or the Church, in the Mysterious Side, both are absolutely gargantuan entities, but facing the surging Spiritual Tide and increasingly severe Abnormality outbreaks, these two giants can only carefully maintain a facade of tranquility.
In the process, compromising with Transcendent Forces that lean towards Order and Neutrality, and even seeking help, seems quite normal.
Under such circumstances, both parties might be eagerly anticipating Tang Qi to take good control of the Merada Special Education School.
Realizing this, Tang Qi did not feel the slightest bit relieved.
On the contrary, he felt the pressure mounting.
On the level involving rules, whether it’s the real world of ordinary humans or the Transcendents’ world, they are somewhat the same to a certain degree.
The darkness and conspiracies one faces alone cannot compare to controlling an organization; that is an entirely different scene. Tang Qi anticipates that he will soon be confronted with numerous intrigues and schemes, not just from Monsters, but also from powerful Transcendents and one Extraordinary Organization after another.
A slight misstep might lead to a disastrous end.
However, Tang Qi does not plan to retreat. The experience of being a lone ranger is indeed good, but sometimes, leading and nurturing a force can expand one’s horizon even further. Most crucially, in some ways, this is an investment for him.
If something goes wrong, he is confident he can withdraw.
With his mind made up, Tang Qi doesn’t delay and continues to look at the roster.
The roster lists over a hundred students, but there are actually not that many students in the school. Due to the collective departure of the Witches and a portion of students in the not yet accepted state, fortunately, the danger level of this part is not considered high.
Within the entire school, there are a total of ten students, including Nidya and John, who have reached the “Level 5.”
Rising from the depths of Tang Qi’s eyes is the information of the third student, a girl named “Shay.”
“Hmm.”
A burst of light unfolds, and in Tang Qi’s mind immediately appears an extremely beautiful young girl, about eleven or twelve years old, wearing a red dress. Her exposed skin is so fair that it seems to emanate a faint light, with deep blue eyes and snow-white long hair.
Is she a creature that seems to exist only in comics, movies, or legends, like an Ice Elf?
The information, still written by Esmeralda, emerges.
“Shay was born in the northern part of the Federation, in Gasla State. Before her life took a turn, she suffered from a peculiar form of albinism, which gave her excessively pale skin and hair, causing her to get sunburned easily, until one night, she passively acquired abilities similar to those of an ancient lineage of Witches.”
“It is a powerful Witch lineage that can affect the environment and weather. Once advanced to the Professional Level, it can even cause permanent changes to some regions’ climates. Shay’s abilities tend toward ice and snow, already demonstrating skills including summoning snowfall, hailstorms, and reducing the temperature within a hundred meters of her surroundings with her breath…”
“The change in her is still related to the return of the Spiritual Tide, as Shay’s various metrics are on the rise along with the intensifying Spiritual Tide.”
“Shay has a volatile personality, but as long as a comfortable environment is created for her, there is no immediate danger of an outbreak. Continued observation is suggested.”
“Note: Unlike Nidya and John, it is highly suspected that the source of Shay’s abilities is due to the stimulation from the return of the Spiritual Tide, which activated the Witch bloodline within her. However, inherited bloodline abilities without proper lineage are extremely dangerous. It is not recommended to release her before finding a suitable mentor.”
“Ice Witch?”
At the school established by the Witches, there finally appeared a Witch in need of shelter.
But this girl named “Shay,” it seems her bloodline is too ancient; even with the power of the Merada Witch Group, they are unable to find a suitable mentor for her, forcing her to remain in a state of confinement and observation.
And her destructive power, although not directly lethal, is in some ways potentially more dangerous than Nidya and John.
“The third one, then who will be the fourth?”
At this moment, Tang Qi’s interest is completely piqued.
He has a hunch that this school will cause his understanding of Mysticism to experience a steep increase in a short time.
With that thought in mind, Tang Qi does not hesitate and fully immerses himself in the roster.
…
The distance from Rein City to Secret Phoenix City is somewhat vast, but the speed of the Black Swan is truly amazing. Without any stops in between, after four hours, Tang Qi and Rafael, both still immersed in their own thoughts, are notified by Gloria that they’ve arrived at their destination.
The short journey, without encountering any melodramatic incidents, went very smoothly.
After bidding farewell to the crew, the three of them disembarked from the Black Swan.
No sooner had they stepped out of the passageway than a Black-clothed Agent, also doubling as a driver, was waiting.
This was not surprising; Secret Phoenix City is the main base of the Ancient Castle Bureau, the largest and most prosperous city in Secret Phoenix State, renowned throughout the Federation for its glorious history, and is the actual Master of the city.
Before the return of the Spiritual Tide, it might have been the State Government.
But with the expansion of the Extraordinary World, Sovereignty would inevitably begin to shift towards the Ancient Castle Bureau and the Church, an irreversible process.
What might be surprising is that only one Agent-cum-driver has come to welcome two high-level personnel?
Returning to Secret Phoenix City, Jason’s smile becomes even brighter.
He leaps into the passenger seat, hastily instructs the cold-faced Agent, “Quick, let’s head to East Street, I’m missing the barbecue at Field Restaurant so much, ah, that delicious, juicy lamb rib…”
Jason’s words left Tang Qi and Rafael both speechlessly looking at each other.
This guy has the bloodline of the Tilos Monster in him.
And the Tilos Monster, just happens to be a half-human, half-sheep extraordinary creature. As a second-generation offspring, his favorite food is grilled lamb chops?
Tang Qi seriously doubted whether Jason’s mother would come after him with a cleaver if she knew about this.
Before the two could say anything, though, Jason’s request was denied by the agent who had already started the car.
His voice was somewhat indifferent, but it came through clearly to the three of them.
“Sir, East Street is located in the Main City, and we need to pass through Blake Street to get there. There is currently unrest happening, and the police department has started to mobilize over a thousand officers to maintain order and disperse the crowd. However, the latest intelligence indicates that the unrest has not settled and is even expanding further. It is recommended that we drive directly back to William Castle and not enter the Main City.”
“Unrest?”
Not just Jason, but Tang Qi and Rafael simultaneously looked up.
Surprise was evident on all three faces.
How could that be possible?
This is Secret Phoenix City, the safest and most prosperous city in all of Secret Phoenix State, why would there be unrest?
Still in an indifferent tone, the agent continued: “The primary instigators of the unrest are from the low-income groups in the Paradise District, Lower City District, and Hunter District. The trigger seems to be random minor incidents. They are trying to break into the Main City, and are currently stuck on Blake Street. Our intelligence analysts believe that there are several gangs involved, as well as activity from a few Evil God Sects…”
“Phew~”
As the driver spoke, the outline and scenes of Secret Phoenix City faintly came into view before the three of them.
A straight, wide highway lay between the airport and the city.
Through the car window, all three saw the massive city shrouded in the twilight haze at the end of the road.
Another illusion swept across Tang Qi’s eyes.
On both sides of the highway were buildings not much different from those in Messer City. Most were several stories high, some isolated houses, factories, gas stations, and small communities.
But gradually spreading into view were towering skyscrapers.
This was a massive, imposing complex of buildings.
Each building was dozens of stories high, their tops obscured by a somewhat dim haze but all the more impressive for it.
There lay the Main City of Secret Phoenix City.
Relevant memories immediately surfaced in Tang Qi’s mind.
Secret Phoenix City was not only the largest city in Secret Phoenix State, but it also had an extremely glorious history. The Federation’s first highway, the first car factory, the first steel factory… all these records were broken by Secret Phoenix City. Although other major cities have surpassed it over time, Secret Phoenix City’s prominence has continually been eclipsed.
Yet, the prosperity of its Main City is still among the top ten.
The cold, massive skyscrapers that Tang Qi first laid eyes on have likely each witnessed the long history and glory of this city.
However, it was clear that the city was now in “trouble.”
The car carrying Tang Qi, Rafael, and Jason stopped in front of a large bridge, which spanned the Secret Phoenix River that connected the two super-great lakes of Saint Martin Lake and Green Dragon Ridge Lake. The origin of Secret Phoenix City’s name lay below.
The bridge was barricaded and closed off, preventing all vehicles and pedestrians from entering.
Across the Secret Phoenix River, one could vaguely see some of the unrest taking place on the other side.
“Boom~”
A mixture of human sounds, wailing, roaring, smashing, and other noises combined to form a booming din that poured into the ears of the three of them.
The cheerful smile had long since left Jason’s face.
Together with Rafael, he looked solemnly at the other side.
Following their gaze, one could spot a few black youths dressed in shabby clothes, laughing as they ran out of a seven-story building, leaving thick smoke billowing behind them—a clear sign they had set the fire, which started blaring the fire alarm.
Not far away, a group of teen-aged boys and girls, emblazoned with tattoos, were pulling a middle-aged woman off her car and verbally assaulting her. Meanwhile, another group, after smashing up the vehicle, worked together to push the small car into the Secret Phoenix River.
Down a side street, dozens of residents were looting a supermarket. A nearby shop had already been burned down, and several young people were setting a motorhome on fire. It seemed the owner intended to flee with his family, but they were still dragged out, and all their possessions were burned.
At the main street shrouded in smoke, hundreds of young people were shouting slogans and brandishing stones and sticks in their hands, moving deeper into the streets…
“Use the special pass and drive in!”
Jason’s voice suddenly rose, seamlessly shifting to an ice-cold tone.
