Six hours later, Yan Yuling lay weakly on the bed as she took a nap. Meanwhile, Feng Zhexuan was too anxious to sleep. So, he focused on helping his wife rest by massaging her sore body.

When Grandpa Feng, Jin Rongsan, and Jin Zhiwen arrived, they saw him massaging his wife’s legs.

Seeing them, Feng Zhexuan greeted, "Grandpa, Father, you are here."

Looking at his pale face, Grandpa Feng comforted him, "Zhexuan, don’t worry. Your wife will be fine."

Hearing his grandfather’s reassurance, Feng Zhexuan only nodded. His body was tired, but his mind was even more exhausted. He was at his limit, but worry and fear kept him from resting.

Since they couldn’t help with much, Grandpa Feng, Jin Rongsan, and Jin Zhiwen sat on the couch to keep them company. Although they said nothing, their expressions revealed their worry and nervousness.

"Wife, I have contacted Granny Zhang. She will come over to take care of you during your postpartum confinement," Feng Zhexuan suddenly said.

When Yan Yuling heard this, she nodded and said, "Thank you, Husband."

Just as she finished speaking, another painful contraction hit, and she let out a grunt, "Uhh..."

Feng Zhexuan used a small towel to wipe her sweat and said, "Wife, follow my breathing. Take a deep breath, let out slowly. Huuu~"

With her husband by her side, Yan Yuling felt reassured. As she followed his breathing, though the pain was still intense, the breathing techniques and her husband’s massages made it more bearable. The contraction lasted over five minutes. When the pain subsided, Yan Yuling lay weakly on the bed.

Seeing her pale, dry lips, Feng Zhexuan brought her some water.

Soon after, there was a knock, and Granny Zhang entered the ward, followed by a middle-aged woman. Seeing them, Yan Yuling smiled and greeted, "Granny, Aunty."

Granny Zhang and her daughter-in-law were intimidated by the men’s presence in the room. They cautiously approached the bed, nodding politely at Grandpa Feng and the others.

At the bedside, Granny Zhang said, "Mr. Feng, this is my daughter-in-law. She is experienced in postpartum care, so I brought her along to help."

"Hello, Mr. Feng," Aunt Zhang greeted.

Standing on the bedside, Feng Zhexuan said, "Granny Zhang, Aunt Zhang, thank you for coming."

Granny Zhang, knowing her lady’s son-in-law’s status, was flattered by his polite tone. Waving her hands, she said, "Mr. Feng, I’m grateful you contacted me. I watched Yuling grow up and treat her like my granddaughter. Taking care of her is my pleasure."

Aunt Zhang added, "Yuling’s mother helped my family a lot. It’s only right for us to care for her daughter, Mr. Feng."

Hearing this, Feng Zhexuan nodded. "Then I will bother you to take care of my wife for the next three months."

Granny Zhang smiled and placed a thermos on the bedside. Opening the lid, she said, "Yuling, I made your favorite chicken soup. You should eat something."

Despite her lack of appetite, the soup’s aroma tempted Yan Yuling. She nodded and said, "Granny, can I have your wonton soup too?"

"Of course. Granny will prepare it for you."

When Granny Zhang reached to feed her, Feng Zhexuan gently took the thermos and said, "Granny, let me."

Granny Zhang smiled, handed it over and replied, "I will prepare the rest of the items."

For postpartum confinement, Feng Zhexuan decided to bring his wife home. Granny Zhang and Aunt Zhang were sent to Grandpa Feng’s house to prepare the room and other necessities.

After eating the chicken soup, Yan Yuling felt much better. The warm meal gave her strength, allowing her to sleep.

Watching her rest, Feng Zhexuan decided to take a shower to refresh himself. Unable to sleep, he checked emails and handled important work matters.

After 16 hours of contractions, Yan Yuling’s water broke, prompting the doctor to check on her condition.

After the examination, the doctor said, "Madam, the cervix is almost fully dilated. If you’d like to take a hot bath, you may do so now, but ensure the water temperature doesn’t exceed 38 degrees Celsius, and keep it brief."

Yan Yuling was feeling uncomfortable from hours of sweating, delighted with the idea. Even a quick shower to wash off the grime would be a relief for her at this moment.

"Okay," she replied.

Once the doctor left, Feng Zhexuan prepared the bath and helped her to the bathroom. Given her difficulty moving, he bathed her, dried her off, and helped her change into clean clothes. When they returned to the room, the bedsheet and pillows had already been replaced.

Leaning back against the fresh pillows, Yan Yuling sighed with relief. Looking at her husband’s face and noticing the dark circles under his eyes, she said with concern, "Husband, you should try to get some sleep."

Knowing the labor process could take hours, Feng Zhexuan nodded, "Okay, I will take a nap. If you feel uncomfortable, wake me up."

"Okay," she agreed.

Feeling exhausted, he fell asleep the moment his head touched the pillow. Not long after, he even let out soft snores.

Watching her husband sleeping so soundly, Yan Yuling decided not to disturb him when the next contraction hit. Fortunately, her father and grandfathers were there to keep her company, providing her some comfort.

Several hours later, loud voices stirred Feng Zhexuan from his sleep. He woke up to see his wife biting down on a towel, enduring intense pain. Startled, he jumped up, but dizziness from low blood sugar caused him to stagger.

Seeing this, Jin Zhiwen quickly steadied him and asked with concern, "Zhexuan, are you alright?"

Closing his eyes briefly to regain balance, Feng Zhexuan replied, "I’m fine, Father."

He hurried to his wife’s side when he felt better and noticed her contractions had become longer and more severe. As he rubbed her back and wiped her sweat, the doctor arrived to check on her again.

"Madam, it’s time to move you to the delivery room," the doctor announced after the examination.

Biting her lip, Yan Yuling nodded.
