Chapter 272: Unexpected News
Lei Junfeng never expected that he would fall in love with such a strange and silly girl as Du Leilei. He can still lie to himself when he doesn’t realize how he feels about her.
But now he knows how he feels and doesn’t want to lie to himself anymore. He was never one to listen to other people’s advice or give up things he wanted without a fight.
Since she wanted to leave, he wouldn’t stop her. However, he will make sure that she never forgets him. And to do this, he needs to show his presence in front of her anytime and anywhere.
It was impossible to follow her around like a clingy dog. He still has the dignity of a man. Then, there is only one option left.
Becoming such a successful man that his pictures can be seen everywhere. This way, even if he can’t be with her, she can see him. As for losing contact, he would never let that happen.
After making up his mind, Lei Junfeng felt that the anxiety in his heart had eased a little, and he felt much calmer. He should be more patient if he wants to catch that silly girl, because it may be a protracted battle.
Meanwhile, in the capital, Yan Yuling and Wei Zheming finally arrived after a three-hour flight. As the helicopter landed on the hospital rooftop, the hospital director and several senior executives were already waiting for them.
As soon as the pilot shut down the engine, Wei Zheming exited the helicopter and helped Yan Yuling down. Seeing them approach, the hospital director extended his hand and said, "Assistant Wei, Madam, welcome."
After a brief handshake, Wei Zheming walked toward the elevator and asked, "Director, has the heart arrived?"
Following him closely, the director nodded and replied, "The surgery is underway. If there are no complications, it should be completed in another two and half hours."
Wei Zheming nodded silently. They entered the elevator and proceeded to the conference room. Given the significance of the patient undergoing the surgery, the operating room was equipped with cameras to record and broadcast the procedure live.
After taking their seats, the staff dimmed the lights and turned on the projector. Yan Yuling clenched her fists tightly as the live feed showed her father undergoing heart transplant surgery.
Looking at the blood and beating heart on the screen, she felt her stomach churn and her face instantly turned pale. Thinking that she might have indigestion, she didn’t think much about it.
Almost two hours had passed since the surgery began, and the doctors’ sweat-soaked clothes were evidence of their effort. Yan Yuling didn’t dare look away, fearing that something might go wrong at any moment.
Time dragged on, and anxiety made her feel dizzy and nauseous. Just when she thought she couldn’t hold on any longer, thunderous applause erupted around her. She looked up in a daze, noticing the relieved and smiling faces in the room.
Wei Zheming turned to her and said, "Madam, the surgery was a success. Your father will now be moved to the ICU for observation."
Hearing this, Yan Yuling finally realized how tense she had been. Her cold, stiff limbs slowly regained warmth while her fast beating heart finally slowed down. She stood up to thank everyone but the moment she left the chair, she felt her vision darken.
Alarmed, Wei Zheming quickly caught her as she staggered back. Feeling her icy hands, he frowned and asked, "Madam, are you feeling unwell?"
Yan Yuling closed her eyes and waited for the dizziness to pass before weakly waving her hand.
"I’m fine, just a bit lightheaded," she reassured him.
Entrusted by his boss to care for the young madam, Wei Zheming felt a deep sense of responsibility. If something happened to her, it would be a failure not only in his job but also in protecting his brother’s wife.
After Yan Yuling felt better, Wei Zheming helped her stand firm, then turned to the hospital director and said, "Director, please prepare the VVIP ward for Madam."
The Feng family was the hospital’s largest shareholder, and as its chairman, Grandpa Feng had a reserved VVIP ward for himself and his family. Since it was mostly unoccupied, it could be used by influential acquaintances or wealthy families with ties to them.
As the Feng family’s young madam, Yan Yuling didn’t need Grandpa Feng’s approval to use the ward. Within half an hour, the ward was ready, and she was sent to the ward to take a rest.
As soon as she lay on the bed, a doctor arrived to check on her.
After a thorough examination, the doctor approached Wei Zheming and whispered, "Assistant Wei, Madam shows signs of early pregnancy. However, we will need to run tests to confirm."
Wei Zheming’s eyes widened in surprise when he heard this. Glancing at the sleeping Yan Yuling, he whispered, "Conduct the tests after Madam wakes up. I will inform the Feng family. Please ensure she receives the best care."
Understanding the gravity of the situation, especially for a family like the Fengs, the doctor nodded. He also resolved to keep the matter discreet, knowing there could be strategic implications regarding the heir.
After leaving the ward, Wei Zheming made a phone call. Moments later, Feng Zhexuan answered, "Zheming, is the surgery complete?"
"The surgery was successful, and Mr. Jin has been moved to the ICU for further observation," Wei Zheming replied.
In Haicheng’s First Hospital VVIP ward, Feng Zhexuan noticed hesitation in his friend’s tone and asked, "Did something happen?"
"Well, Madam felt unwell and is currently resting in the hospital. The doctor suggested running some tests."
Startled by this news, Feng Zhexuan asked urgently, "What’s wrong with Yuling?"
"Zhexuan, it seems that your wife might be pregnant, but further tests are needed for confirmation."
Stunned by his words, Feng Zhexuan stood frozen, his mind blank. Seeing his reaction, Grandpa Feng looked up from his book and asked, "Zhexuan, what’s wrong?"
