Chapter 249: Leaving The Country
As soon as Yan Yunci was outside, she answered the call, "Hello."
"Hello, Miss Yan, this is from the First Hospital. I would like to inform you that patient Lin Xiao has been transferred and is no longer staying here. We will refund the deposit you previously paid. May I have your bank account information?"
The moment she heard this, Yan Yunci asked in surprise, "Transferred? May I know who arranged his transfer?"
"It was his cousin."
"Cousin?" She was taken aback since she hadn’t heard of Lin Xiao having any cousins.
"Do you know where he was transferred to?" she asked.
"I’m sorry, Miss, but we don’t have that information," the hospital staff replied apologetically.
With no other way to get details about Lin Xiao’s transfer, Yan Yunci could only give her bank account information and add, "If there is any further information about him, please let me know. Thank you."
After she hung up, she sighed and thought, ’Lin Xiao, wherever you are right now, I hope you’re receiving the best treatment and recovering well. Next time we meet, I want to see you safe and sound.’
Yan Yunci didn’t understand why she cared so much about someone she barely knew. She kept telling herself that what she did was unfair to her boyfriend, but she couldn’t help but feel pain in her heart whenever she thought of Lin Xiao.
’I can’t think about him anymore. My boyfriend is Chen Yuhan, and I don’t want to hurt him,’ she thought as she clenched her fists tightly.
After she composed herself, she returned to the meeting room.
Meanwhile, in the president’s office, Chen Yuhan also received news about Lin Xiao from the hospital.
"Thank you for informing me, Director. Let’s plan to have a meal together sometime," he said with a smile.
After hanging up, he looked at a picture on his monitor sent by his subordinate. Narrowing his eyes, he muttered thoughtfully, "Xiao Chengqiu—Lin Xiao—"
"What is the relationship between these two?"
Recalling the information from the hospital director, a thought suddenly occurred to him, and he said in surprise, "Could Xiao Chengqiu really be Lin Xiao’s cousin?"
Though the two were only known as classmates, Chen Yuhan still called a private investigator and said, "Help me investigate the relationship between Lin Xiao and Xiao Chengqiu. I will send their details over."
"President Chen, you know it’s not easy to look into the Xiao family since they live in the UK," the investigator replied meaningfully.
Understanding his meaning, Chen Yuhan replied, "Five million."
When he heard the number, the investigator quickly agreed, "Deal. I will send you the information as soon as possible."
After the brief call, Chen Yuhan transferred five million yuan to the investigator and then went back to handling his work, putting this matter on the back of his mind.
Several hours later, the Xiao family’s private plane finally took off from Beijing International Airport. Sitting by the window, Xiao Chengqiu watched the city lights grow smaller until they resembled stars.
This time they return to the UK, it might take his cousin several years before he could return to Huaxia.
He knew about his cousin’s special feelings for the Yan family’s young lady and had hoped they would get together. But sadly, she got into a relationship with another man while his cousin lay in a coma.
He wondered how his cousin would react, waking up to find the girl he cared for with someone else, while he himself was no longer in Huaxia. By then, the Lin Group might already have been swallowed up by Feng Zhexuan.
Thinking about Lin Hao’s arrogance over the years, Xiao Chengqiu regretted not hitting him harder. The minor provocation he had given Lin Hao wasn’t enough to satisfy his resentment toward the Lin family for taking advantage and bullying his cousin for so many years.
After a while, he sighed and thought, ’Forget it. They won’t get far for long. My cousin’s health is what matters most.’
A few days later, a loud shattering sound came from the CEO’s office at the Lin Group.
Hearing this, the secretary sighed and found herself missing Lin Xiao. Ever since Lin Hao had taken office, she had been cleaning up his messes almost daily. If not shattered glass or cups, she was dealing with ripped-up documents.
Not only did she have to clean up the broken pieces, but she also had to work overtime to prepare replacement documents. The workload only grew after COO Xiao resigned and was replaced by a new COO. At this rate, she felt like she was both secretary and janitor.
If not for insider information that the Lin Group would soon be taken over by the Feng Group, she would have resigned long ago. She hoped the acquisition would happen soon so she could stop working under Lin Hao.
While she was lost in her thoughts, the CEO’s office door suddenly swung open with a loud bang. Startled by the sound, the secretary quickly stood and reminded her boss, "CEO Lin, you have a meeting in ten minutes."
Lin Hao glared at her and said, "Cancel all my meetings for today!"
With that, he strode away angrily.
The secretary watched him leave with disdain while muttering, "What kind of CEO is this? Leaving early every day and ignoring his work. With the way he handled the company, it’s no surprise that the company was acquired by someone else one day."
Looking at the growing pile of documents on her desk, she sighed and said, "Heavens, what did I do to deserve this? When will this torture end?"
Just after she finished her words, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, her eyes lit up, and she quickly answered, "Hello, Assistant Wei."
"Hello, Linda. Have you considered our offer?" Wei Zheming asked.
Linda hesitated for a moment before asking, "Assistant Wei, if I take this deal, will I get into any trouble with the police?"
"You didn’t commit any crime, so who is going to report you?" Wei Zheming replied smoothly.
