Chapter 240: Decisive Decision

Hearing Uncle Chen’s introduction, Yan Yuling looked at both of them and asked, "Are you two relatives?"

"Yes, we are husband and wife," Uncle Chen answered with a smile.

Yan Yuling nodded in understanding but said nothing.

Afterward, the maids introduced themselves one by one. However, Yan Yuling didn’t say anything to them. She sensed jealousy and animosity in their gazes so she didn’t want to waste her words with them.

Once the introductions were over, Feng Zhexuan said, "Aunt Chen, please prepare a light meal for me and my wife. The rest of you can carry on with your duties."

"Yes," they said in unison.

As they left, Yan Yuling turned to her husband and said teasingly, "Husband, it seems I’m not entirely welcome here."

Feng Zhexuan frowned at her words and asked, "Wife, what are you saying? You are the lady of this house. How could you not be welcome?"

Yan Yuling sighed and said, "Your maids looked at me with such resentment, as if I’d stolen their own husbands. How can I feel welcome?"

Upon hearing this, Feng Zhexuan’s frown deepened and said, "I will replace them."

Surprised by her husband’s decisive decision, Yan Yuling replied, "Husband, is it necessary to fire them? They haven’t actually done anything wrong."

Feng Zhexuan pinched his wife’s delicate nose and asked, "Wife, do you want to wait until they do something first before you replace them with other people? If they harbor animosity toward their employer, they should find work elsewhere."

Although she thought her husband’s words made sense, Yan Yuling still frowned and hesitated.

Feng Zhexuan could guess what his wife was worrying about and added with a reassuring smile, "Don’t worry. They are employed through a company under the Feng Group, so I will simply assign them elsewhere. They won’t lose their jobs."

Yan Yuling was relieved upon hearing this and nodded, "A warning should suffice. Losing a job might bring hardship to their families."

"Mn, I will do it as you wish," Feng Zhexuan nodded and agreed readily.

With that settled, they went to the master bedroom. When Yan Yuling opened the walk-in closet, she was surprised to find it filled with new clothes in her size, along with shoes, bags, and a fresh set of skincare and cosmetics.

Smiling to herself, she went to take a bath while Feng Zhexuan made a phone call. After a light meal, they returned to the hospital.

Two hours later, a van arrived at the house, and a young man got out, ringing the bell. Once the gate opened, he drove in and parked at the entrance.

Stepping out of the car, he called to the young women at the door after a group of middle-aged women came down from the car, "All of you have been reassigned. Please get in the car."

One of the young women asked, "Sir, why are we being reassigned? We haven’t done anything wrong."

Hearing her complaint, the young man replied, "The boss felt your attitude made Madam uncomfortable, so he reassigned you and arranged for other staff."

Another maid grumbled unhappily, "Isn’t she being too demanding? We didn’t offend her. Was there really a need to remove us? Instead of worrying about us, she should improve herself so that her husband doesn’t look for another woman."

When the young man heard this, he sneered, and said, "This wasn’t Madam’s decision, it was the boss’s. You should be grateful you are being reassigned instead of fired. If you are unhappy with the company’s arrangement, feel free to resign."

As they continued to protest, he snapped, "Enough. Get in the car."

Fearing that they would really be fired, the young women entered the car unwillingly. After they boarded the car, the young man turned to Aunt Chen, and said, "Aunt Chen, here are the new maids. Please show them around and explain the house rules."

Aunt Chen smiled at him and said, "Leave it to me."

The young man nodded. Before leaving, he looked at the new staff and advised, "Work honestly and don’t pry into matters that don’t concern you. Follow the rules, and you will have good wages and plenty of benefits."

The middle-aged women’s eyes lit up and they said in unison, "We understand, Manager."

After the car left, Aunt Chen led the new staff inside while saying, "Come, I will give you a tour and go over the rules. Our boss is generous. Work well, and you will be rewarded."

Hearing this, one of the middle-aged women couldn’t help but asked curiously, "Sister, is our boss that generous?"

Aunt Chen nodded and said, "He is. Last year, my son had an accident, and we couldn’t find a doctor to help with his surgery. Our boss learned about this and arranged his surgery. I didn’t pay a cent since our boss covered everything."

One of the women asked with surprised, "Really?"

Aunt Chen nodded and added, "Our boss might seem cold and indifferent, but he is kind-hearted. And Madam treated us politely. The young maids before just had other intentions toward the boss."

"But, our boss is mysophobic and doesn’t like to get too close to people, especially women. So, we should keep our distance from him. If we touch him we will be fired immediately."

One of the women nodded and said, "Young people these days just want an easy way up the social ladder and are unwilling to work hard. It’s no wonder they were reassigned."

"If not for Madam’s kindness, the boss would have fired them on the spot," Aunt Chen said with a nod.

They all agreed and continued the tour of the house.

Meanwhile, in the hospital, Yan Yuling saw Xiao Wu and asked with surprise, "Xiao Wu, why are you here?"

Xiao Wu stood at attention and replied, "Madam, I’m your personal bodyguard. It’s my duty to protect you wherever you go. Since you come to the capital, I will also come over."

Feng Zhexuan nodded approvingly at her attitude and said, "You were a good choice. No wonder Zheming thought highly of you."
