Chapter 215: Brothers

Guan Wufeng lowered his head, saying nothing as he was scolded. Compared to his father’s indifference, he felt that Grandpa Feng, who always nagged and scolded him, was the one who truly cared about him.

Seeing him behaving like this, Grandpa Feng sighed and said, "I’m tired. You two can chat. I will go back to my room."

After he finished his words, he stood up and left.

After his grandfather left, Feng Zhexuan looked at his friend and said, "Wufeng, your girlfriend was kidnapped by Feng Bohai. Luckily, we received word from my cousin as soon as he was bailed out by your stepmother. Otherwise, we might have lost track of them once he left the country."

Hearing this, Guan Wufeng was stunned. He had thought his father was behind this, but unexpectedly, it was his stepmother. Thinking of the things he had said to his father, a flicker of guilt flashed in his eyes.

"Zhexuan, thank you. I will definitely repay this favor someday," he said.

Feng Zhexuan smiled and replied, "Wufeng, we have been friends for so many years. I treat you like a brother. Since Xiayan is your girlfriend, she is also like a sister-in-law to me. I’m sure if it were my wife in this situation, you would do the same. So, there’s no need to be so formal with me."

Hearing this, Guan Wufeng felt ashamed. Although he knew Feng Zhexuan wasn’t to blame for what happened to his girlfriend, he couldn’t help feeling jealousy and resentment toward him at times. He was sure his friend was aware of his feelings but never exposed or hurt him for it.

Thinking of this, he opened his mouth to say, "Zhexuan, I—"

Before he could finish his words, Feng Zhexuan stopped him and said, "Wufeng, you don’t have to apologize. If I were in your position, I might have acted even crazier. I don’t blame you. Right now, the most important thing is to help your girlfriend recover her memories."

Hearing this, Guan Wufeng’s eyes lit up, and he asked, "Zhexuan, do you have a way to help her?"

"I do, but I can’t promise anything. It depends on whether my grandpa-in-law agrees to help," Feng Zhexuan replied.

"Grandpa-in-law?" Guan Wufeng asked, confused.

From what he knew, Yan Yuling only had a father. Where did this grandpa come from?

Noticing his friend’s confusion, Feng Zhexuan explained, "It’s a long story. But my wife’s grandfather is a renowned doctor. I’m sure, with his help, Xiayan will recover."

"A renowned doctor? Zhexuan, who is he?" Guan Wufeng asked.

"He is Professor Jin Rongsan."

Upon hearing the name, Guan Wufeng was shocked. Everyone in the medical field knew this name. He stood up and asked in disbelief, "Zhexuan, you mean your wife is Professor Jin’s granddaughter?"

Feng Zhexuan nodded and said proudly, "Yes, they did a DNA test, and Professor Jin is indeed my wife’s paternal grandfather."

"Then, your wife isn’t Yan Liguang’s daughter?" Guan Wufeng asked again.

"Well, it’s a long story, and I don’t know all the details either."

While he couldn’t learn more about Jin Rongsan, Guan Wufeng was thrilled to know there was hope for his girlfriend to recover. He bowed to his friend and said solemnly, "Zhexuan, thank you."

Seeing his friend’s seriousness, Feng Zhexuan quickly stood up and held his arm. "Wufeng, what are you doing? Didn’t I tell you we are like brothers? Why are you being so formal?"

At his friend’s words, Guan Wufeng’s eyes turned red, and he choked, "Thank you, Zhexuan."

Although he didn’t say it aloud, both knew that with this favor, Guan Wufeng would feel indebted to Feng Zhexuan for life.

"Alright, stop saying thank you and go keep Xiayan company. She was calling for you even in her sleep," Feng Zhexuan said, patting his friend’s back.

Nodding at his words, Guan Wufeng went to the guest room on the second floor.

Standing in the living room, Feng Zhexuan thoughtfully watched his friend’s back and thought, ’Wufeng, I hope you won’t let me down.’

After resolving the matter concerning Xing Xiayan, Feng Zhexuan returned home in a good mood.

When he arrived at his apartment, he noticed that his wife was asleep on the couch while holding her phone. Seeing her sleeping like this, he put away his coat and bag, and then walked over to her.

He leaned down and gently carried her to their bedroom without waking her. Just as he laid her on the bed, his wife opened her eyes and looked at him sleepily.

They gazed at each other for a while before he smiled and leaned down to kiss her.

Feeling her husband’s soft lips, Yan Yuling finally murmured, "Husband, you are back. Why are you so late tonight?"

"Were you waiting for me?" Feng Zhexuan asked gently.

Yan Yuling nodded and replied, "I wanted to have dinner with you."

Hearing this, Feng Zhexuan checked his watch and said, "It’s already so late, and you haven’t eaten?"

Yan Yuling buried herself in her husband’s embrace and replied pitifully, "I fell asleep waiting for you. Husband, I’m hungry."

Seeing her looking so vulnerable, Feng Zhexuan felt his heart stir. But remembering that his wife hadn’t eaten, he controlled himself and said, "I will make something for you then."

Before he could stand, Yan Yuling held his hand and said, "Husband, you go take a shower. I will warm up the food."

With that, she quickly headed to the kitchen. She had already prepared dinner, but it had gone cold after waiting for so long.

Watching his wife slip away so fast, Feng Zhexuan shook his head helplessly. While she warmed up the food, he took a quick shower and went to the dining room.

When he arrived, Yan Yuling had just finished heating the last dish. She looked at him with a smile and said, "Husband, let’s eat. I’m so hungry."

Seeing her acting so endearingly, Feng Zhexuan chuckled and said, "Alright."

As they shared their late dinner, he told her what had happened and said, "That’s why I was late."
