Chapter 82: Chapter 17 School Bullying Incident
In the backyard of the medical clinic, the young boy who had just awoken shrunk back in fear at the sight of two strangers.
"Don’t move around, you need to rest a little longer," just as the boy felt afraid, a pretty little girl suddenly darted to his bedside, glaring at him unapologetically with her fist raised.
The boy had just tried to climb out of bed when his head bandage had started to bleed through.
The boy was so frightened that he didn’t even dare to breathe heavily.
"You... did you save me... I thought I was surely dead... Thank you," the boy managed to speak, but perhaps due to being overly shocked, he stuttered as he talked.
Earlier, when Little Black went to report the news, the boy looked around and realized he was in a medical clinic, where medicinal herbs were drying outside, and someone had already bandaged his head.
The boy had a somewhat simple and honest appearance, looking like a potato freshly unearthed from the soil.
No wonder he had been unconscious and brought to the Little Huichun Medical Hall for a while now, and yet no one from his family had come to look for him, as he was not one of the Yujing people.
As soon as the boy woke up, he remembered how he had been trampled by a horse on the street, such a serious injury that even the instructors at the academy might not be able to heal.
As he recalled the incident, he began frantically searching over his own body.
"My... my Magic Wand?" The boy was almost crying, the most important thing to him was his Magic Wand, which his family had saved up for a whole year to buy for him.
"Stop moving around, or believe me, I will knock you out with one punch!" Yun Sheng saw him fumbling around, and his newly healed wound was about to burst open again, so she waved her fist at him.
The imposing demeanor of the big sister of Banana Leaf Village was unmistakably revealed, and the boy immediately stopped moving, but he kept muttering "Magic... Wand."
"You’re from the Magic Academy," Doctor Fan observed the boy and detected a faint Magic Wave emanating from him, though it wasn’t strong. The boy’s cultivation level must be between that of a Magic Apprentice and a Magician.
"Yes, I’m a student of the Royal Magic Academy, my... my Magic Wand," the boy struggled to recount the day’s events.
The boy’s name was Gu Feng, he was seven years old, and he lived in a small mountain village thousands of miles away from Yujing.
It sounded like his small mountain village was quite similar to Banana Leaf Village, isolated from the world and inhabited by simple and honest folk.
When Gu Feng was three years old, he participated in his first Magic Enlightenment and was found to possess an extremely rare Light Element Magic Attribute.
When the news broke out, the entire small village was abuzz. In such a small mountain village, it had been over a hundred years since a child capable of sensing Magic Elements had appeared, and now they had a future Light Mage, which was truly extraordinary.
Because the boy had a special Magic Attribute, and with Great Zhou striving to cultivate magic talents in recent years, Gu Feng had been nominated by his village to become a State Public Scholar. After completing his training as a Magic Apprentice in a nearby city, he was then sent to the Royal Magic Academy.
"I’ve only been here for a few months... Because my... magic is poor... and I am very clumsy... I have always been bullied by those... academy students," Gu Feng awkwardly tugged at his clothes, which were covered with patches.
On the Wuji Continent, the tuition fees for Magic Apprentices and Martial Artists are provided as a one-time subsidy by the state; however, in order to enter higher-level Magic Academies and Martial Arts Halls as Magicians and Martial Artists, they must find ways to fund their own tuition fees.
But there is one situation that concerns both the inside and the outside, and that is the case of State Public Scholars.
State Public Scholars refer to those Magicians and Martial Artists who are impoverished but possess a certain level of Magic Talent.
Most of them are not very old and unable to earn tuition fees on their own. Under such circumstances, the state provides a certain tuition waiver and arranges some odd jobs within the Academy or Martial Arts Hall, accordingly providing them with wages.
Gu Feng was a State Public Scholar at the Royal Magic Academy.
Yun Sheng had roughly understood the entire process of the incident.
The Royal Magic Academy is the best Magic Academy in Great Zhou, gathering the most talented and wealthiest Magic Students from Great Zhou.
These people are either born into the Royal Family, the children of officials, or the young masters of noble families of Great Zhou. At the very least, they are wealthy individuals who pushed their way into the Magic Academy. Needless to say, they looked down on Gu Feng, who was both poor and not skilled in powerful magic.
In modern terms, this is a classic case of campus bullying.
"So you mean to tell me, the daytime trampling by a horse and all those old wounds on your body were all the doing of those students from Yujing Magic Academy?" Upon hearing this, Yun Sheng was immediately furious.
Earlier, when she was applying the final bandages to Gu Feng, she noticed that, apart from the marks from the horse trampling, there were many old wounds on his body.
The old wounds were dense and numerous, clearly not something that could be caused in just a day or two.
It seemed that Gu Feng had been bullied ever since he entered the Royal Magic Academy.
Gu Feng did not answer, but his dim eyes had already given Yun Sheng all the answers she needed.
"This is too much, don’t they know that letting horses run wild over someone could result in death!" Perhaps because they were both from a small village and had experienced similar bullying before, Yun Sheng felt a connection with Gu Feng, and was now boiling with indignation.
If it was a matter involving the Magic Academy, then it should be settled with magic. Yun Sheng rolled up her sleeves and drew her Magic Wand as well.
"So it seems that such things also happen within the Royal Magic Academy," Doctor Fan shook his head as he listened, having originally planned to find a way to send Yun Sheng to the best Royal Magic Academy. He now thought that this plan needed to be reconsidered.
"So you are a Magician too... Thank you for the healing... The Magic Academy does not permit outsiders to enter and leave freely... oh no... at this moment... I still haven’t returned to the Magic Academy... If my mentor finds out... I will surely be punished... Thank you both... I... must go back now," During the lively conversation with Yun Sheng and the others, Gu Feng almost forgot that there was a night curfew at the Royal Magic Academy.
Today, he was dragged out of the Academy by a group of Magic Students and suffered serious injuries from being trampled by a horse, none of which his mentor knew about. If she did find out, he feared he might be locked up in confinement.
The more Gu Feng thought about it, the more frightened he became; he insisted on heading back to the Royal Magic Academy immediately, regardless of his injuries.
Seeing that their persuasion was useless against this stubborn person, Yun Sheng and Doctor Fan had to make other plans.
"Your wounds cannot be disturbed yet, so if you really must go back, let me and Doctor Fan take you. We will also explain to your mentor the reason you did not return tonight, and you must tell your mentor about the bullying by that despicable group of Magic Students," After discussing with Doctor Fan, they were not comfortable with letting Gu Feng go back alone.
Yun Sheng also wanted to see for herself what the Royal Magic Academy looked like, so they pushed the cart used to transport medicinal herbs from the medical hall and took Gu Feng back to the Royal Magic Academy overnight.
