Chapter 69: Chapter 4 Unmatched Pride
Yun Canghai’s daughter?!
Upon hearing Yun Sheng’s identity, instead of happiness, a trace of resentment flashed in the eyes of the elegantly dressed woman.
That man is still not dead, to think that ten years have passed, and his vile spawn has grown this much.
But then, she quickly reverted to her normal state.
Tang Yu was already scared witless, upon seeing the elegantly dressed woman, he cried out, "Mother, this vile brat hit me! She also claims to be Grandfather’s granddaughter, I don’t have such an ugly cousin!"
Truly ignorant of one’s own shortcomings, being called ugly by a pig-headed fool, Yun Sheng couldn’t help feeling aggravated.
Yet she had also guessed the identity of the woman in front of her and Tang Yu.
The daughter of the Martial Saint General Mansion, Yun Cangxue, who after getting married and widowhood temporarily lived in General Mansion; by count, she was Yun Sheng’s aunt.
However, from the first glance, Yun Sheng took an instant dislike to Yun Cangxue.
Yun Cangxue bore no resemblance to her father Yun Canghai; her features were quite pleasant, with a graceful bearing, except her slightly upturned almond eyes gave her a somewhat mean appearance.
Yun Cangxue looked at Yun Sheng with disdain, then tenderly turned her gaze to her own son’s face.
Damnable wretch, daring to hit her precious darling, she is still Yun Canghai’s daughter!
Hmph, there seems to be a resemblance, but she will never allow Yun Canghai’s daughter to set foot in General Mansion again.
Everything in the General Mansion belongs to her Yuyu.
"You just said, you are Canghai’s daughter? What proof do you have, and where is Yun Canghai?" Yun Cangxue slightly lifted her eyelid, glancing at Yun Sheng from the corner of her eye, clearly showing indifference.
"My father, he has fallen ill, and is currently outside the city, I wish to please..." Although Yun Sheng disliked Yun Cangxue, considering Yun Canghai’s illness could not be delayed, she had to respond.
"Presumptuous! He even dares to return to General Mansion! Guards! Do you remember what the Old General said, what to do if you encounter Yun Canghai and his vile spawn?" Yun Cangxue spoke with the presence reminiscent of the Martial Saint General Yun Bahe, and her own cultivation had reached the level of Martial Arts Sect.
The guards looked at each other, and under the compelling gaze of Yun Cangxue, one of them had no choice but to step forward, "The Old General said, if...if Yun Canghai brings his offspring back to the mansion, they must kneel for three prostrations and nine kowtows, and apologize to the ancestors of the General Mansion before they can enter on their knees."
"And what else? What if Yun Canghai and his vile spawn refuse to follow these words?" Yun Cangxue comforted her son Tang Yu, her eyes upturned with schadenfreude.
"If they do not comply, beat them to death with sticks, and they shall not be allowed to set foot within General Mansion even in death," the guard said with a swallow, casting a pitiful glance at Yun Sheng.
This young girl, though not of age, had reacted swiftly in the face of the Blood Claw Wolf, and being a Mage, she very well might indeed be the departed Young General Yun’s daughter.
Three prostrations and nine kowtows, beaten to death by sticks!
These eight characters were deeply etched into Yun Sheng’s mind.
Her father’s increasingly frail figure, and the humiliation from this mother and son, she remembered them all.
"Very well, Yun Cangxue, today you deny entry to my father and me, but one day when I, Yun Sheng, rise above, I will make sure you taste what it’s like to be beaten with sticks and prostrate in apology," Yun Sheng held no particular sentiment for General Mansion, nor did she covet its glory and wealth.
If General Mansion cannot accommodate her and her father, she would not humiliate herself.
Yun Sheng turned and left, not looking back as she walked away from Wuning Lane.
Yun Cangxue could only feel that Yun Sheng’s words contained a hidden sharpness. Being stared at by those pitch-black, night-like eyes, an inexplicable chill rose behind her.
In secret, Yun Cangxue signaled to the maid behind her, who quietly followed suit.
"I don’t want anyone else to know about today’s events," Yun Cangxue warned the two guards.
The guards could only nod in agreement.
After leaving Wuning Lane, Yun Sheng heard footsteps behind her. Without looking back, she knew that it must be someone Yun Cangxue had secretly sent to follow her.
Yun Cangxue did not seem to be a kind person, and revealing her and her father’s whereabouts was absolutely not an option.
Yun Sheng quickened her pace. With the Five Elements Magic Soul within her, she quietly activated her Wind Magic Element and weaved through the streets and alleys of Yujing, successfully shaking off the maid who was tailing her.
But after rushing around, and her first visit to Yujing, Yun Sheng inadvertently found herself on a dilapidated street.
This street, in comparison to the luxurious Martial Saint General Mansion she had seen earlier, appeared to be from another world entirely.
Indeed, every ten miles in Yujing showed the heavens of difference, speaking volumes about the disparity between the rich and poor within the same city.
The narrow and worn street was flanked by deserted shops, leading Yun Sheng to doubt that people from Wuning Lane would ever set foot in such a place in their lifetimes.
"Is there really a medical hall nearby?" Unable to be acknowledged by the General Mansion meant that Yun Sheng’s plan to have a doctor from the General Mansion provide a statement proving her father was not infected with the epidemic had fallen through. She had no choice but to seek out a local Yujing doctor to issue a certificate so that she could bring her father into the city for treatment.
A few steps later, Yun Sheng saw a sign ahead that read, "Miraculous Healing, Guaranteed Cure for Hundreds of Diseases."
However, hanging on the door of the medical hall was a crooked sign with several lines of sloppy writing.
Looking further down, Yun Sheng couldn’t help but feel both laughter and tears welling up inside her.
The wooden sign read: Issuance of various certificates, treatment for infertility, all kinds of gynecological disorders, almost exactly like those unlicensed Little Black clinics of the modern age.
It was uncertain whether the "Fake Certificate Medical Hall" doctor possessed the so-called medical qualifications.
With doubtful feelings, Yun Sheng entered the medical hall.
It was an extremely shabby medical hall with just a few medicine cabinets and a shoddily made examination table. A thin man was half-collapsed, half-asleep inside the medicine cabinet.
Perhaps he was the owner of the medical hall.
"Excuse me, can you help issue a certificate for the epidemic? A relative of mine wants to enter the city, but because of a serious illness, the City Guard will not allow him to enter," Yun Sheng said. After finishing her sentence, the man behind the counter did not respond for a long time.
"Excuse me?" Yun Sheng approached for a closer look, only to discover the man had fainted.
Something wrong?
Yun Sheng hurriedly propped him up, observing for a moment then couldn’t help but smile bitterly. This man, it wasn’t that he was sick, he had evidently fainted from hunger after not eating for several days.
Yun Sheng, left with no choice, took out the dry food she had carried and some water, intending to feed the unconscious doctor.
But as soon as she took out the dry food, the emaciated man behind the counter smelled the aroma of the food, immediately jumped up, and devoured the food in her hand in a frenzy.
While eating, he kept saying, "Finally, someone has come. I was about to starve to death. What certificate did you say you needed? An entry permit, right? Name, age, illness, tell me everything. Five silver coins for a certificate, effective immediately."
