Limitless Evolution: I'm The New Dragon God?
Chapter 70: Calamity Descends (2)

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Calamity Descends (2)

A moment of silence hung in the air after the leg emerged, as if the world itself was stunned into submission.

"SKREE!"

Then came the shriek.

It wasn’t from any human throat. It came from the sky itself, carried by the twisting winds that howled across the city.

The sound was so sharp, so deep, that it pierced into every soul.

Bang!

Glass shattered. Walls cracked. Birds fell mid-flight. It was the cry of something unnatural, a cry announcing that the Hollows had arrived.

The ordinary human watched everything with despair.

"Hollows! They have arrived once again!"

"Oh God, please Save Us!"

"Run, you fools. There isn’t any god to save us." a burly hunter roared.

By the side, Ryuzen forced himself to stand. His legs screamed. His instincts roared at him to run, to hide, to disappear. But his gaze was locked upward. Because it wasn’t over.

The massive leg remained half-exposed from the colossal portal, unmoving for now. But from the hundreds of smaller gates, creatures began to pour out.

Dark figures.

Winged. Crawling. Slithering. Galloping.

Hollows.

They came in waves, like a flood of shadows spilling over the heavens. Some were as small as goblins, others as large as horses, but majority of them looked like abominations stitched together from the nightmares of the world.

Their bones and fleshes were twisted. Limbs in the wrong places. Eyes where no creature should have any. Howls and screeches filled the sky as they descended.

The Hollows had descended, overwhelmingly this time.

"HUMMMM!"

The city’s protective Shield shimmered to life like a massive dome of golden light that had guarded this City for years. It pulsed as the alarm bells rang, a deep tone reverberating from the Watchtowers.

Hunters began to assemble. Swords were drawn. Scrolls activated. Skills activated.

The noble defenders of the city lined up at the edges of the walls, their faces pale but determined.

"Everyone, hold your ground!" a voice boomed from one of the towers. "Let the Shield do its job! Focus on the secondary breach zones!"

But Ryuzen watched with dread as the first wave of Hollows smashed into the golden barrier.

Bang!

The Shield glowed brilliantly, resisting the attack successfully.

BANG!

A second wave hit. Louder. Harder. As if these things weren’t just attacking with force, but with malice itself.

The Shield rippled again, but it held firm.

Before anyone could cheer, the third strike landed.

BOOM!

The attack came from the titanic leg as its full demonic form emerged into the world.

With a single stomp, the colossal Hollow shattered the protective Shield that had held strong for years.

Ryu’s mouth was dry. His heart pounded against his ribs. The Shield wasn’t supposed to fall. Not like this. Not this quickly.

"Fall back! Activate inner walls! Tertiary defenses now!"

A third wave of Hollows came. Not from the ground, but from above. Flying beasts with wings of smoke and teeth like jagged glass swooped down and struck the very top of the Shield.

"CRACK!"

Finally, it shattered.

A sound like breaking glass and crumbling stone echoed across the entire city. The golden dome cracked and then, in an instant, disintegrated.

Then, Hollows swarmed into the city like locusts. Buildings were ripped open.

"Kekekeke...."

Horrifying screams echoed through the air. The streets that were calm moments ago had become a scene of absolute chaos.

He saw a couple crushed into the pavement. An elderly woman was devoured whole. A child—chewed alive.

And yet, Ryuzen only stared.

His limbs refused to obey. His breath caught in his throat. His heart pounded like a war drum.

All because of fear.

Ryuzen clenched his fists, his nails digging into his skin. His golden eyes trembled, then slowly began to burn with loathing.

What are you doing, Yuki? Didn’t you say you were going to change? That you wouldn’t be the pitiful version of yourself anymore? That you no longer feared death?

Then why are you still so scared?

He cursed under his breath.

"If I can’t be a hero... then I’ll be a hunter. I’ll become the dragon that doesn’t cower away. One that hunts. One that turns his enemies into ash."

As that resolve settled in, a sudden notification flashed in his mind.

[Congratulations! You have awakened a new Species Trait: Fear Immunity]

And just like that, the suffocating dread vanished. His heart calmed. His body stopped trembling.

A different kind of fire took hold—a primal, draconic aura that wrapped around him like armor.

He now stood tall, unafraid.

Ryuzen summoned his worn-out F-Grade Iron Sword from the fusion Lab and unsheathed the chipped blade.

The Hollow Hunt had begun. And this time, he would not run.

Swoosh!

Slash!

His figure blurred through the air, a streak of motion too fast for untrained eyes to follow.

Ryuzen brought his blade down in a clean arc, slicing through the torso of a humanoid Hollow and severing it cleanly at the waist.

The creature let out a bloodcurdling scream—a sound so piercing, it ripped through the chaos like a ghostly flute echoing from the depths of the abyss.

But Ryu didn’t stop.

Without hesitation, he twisted his body and slashed again, cleaving through the Hollow’s neck. Its head tumbled through the air, dark blood splattering across Ryuzen’s face and arms, painting his once-handsome appearance with the markings of battle.

He stared at the fallen beast coldly. Then, with calm precision, he raised its severed head high.

"This will do as evidence," he muttered coldly.

A second later, the head vanished into thin air, stored neatly inside the Fusion Lab as a trophy.

Howl!

Just then, another Hollow dropped from the rooftop behind him.

But Ryuzen was ready.

He spun around and slashed upward in one smooth, instinctive motion.

However—

Clang!

His F-Grade sword shattered on impact.

On the opposite, the HoHollow Creature— monstrous, oversized rabbit—barely flinched. Its fur bristled with unnatural toughness, more like armor than flesh. Its crimson eyes gleamed with malice as it raised a thick, muscular arm to crush him.

But Ryuzen didn’t retreat.

He caught the blow head-on with his bare forearm, stopping the beast cold.

It staggered in surprise, unable to belive this young human was this strong. The disbelief on its face told it all.

Ryu’s body, now refined through countless fusions and system enhancements, didn’t buckle in the slightest. Power surged through every fiber of his muscles.

Just then, a notification flickered before his eyes.

[ Hollow - Level 11 ]

[ Extractions Unavailable ]

He didn’t care. His gaze zoomed in on a spot on its lower belly.

Ryuzen smirked coldly.

"Let’s see you block this."

He pulled back his fist and slammed it into the Hollow’s stomach with brutal force.

Bang!

The Hollow’s body detonated in a burst of black blood and flesh, the shockwave tossing debris across the ruined street.

Ryuzen stood amidst the wreckage, arm smoking, eyes burning with draconic fury.

His fist had done what the sword could not.

His body was no longer human.

It was a weapon.

And the hunt had just begun.
