Chapter 69: Ye Ning break through
.
Outside Ye Ning’s sea of consciousness, Zhu Rong’s eyes finally opened, lingering for a second in thought before being pulled back to reality by the scene in front of him.
Ye Ning, who had just successfully guided her Qi into her dantian, was now releasing powerful waves of spiritual energy, with a multicolored aura faintly radiating from her.
Seeing this, Zhu Rong smiled slightly, and with his hand still pressed on her back, he said,
"Good, now you should be able to sense the presence of the elements you have affinity with," he said, as even he could feel those elements stirring within her, her body now like an empty dam being filled with new presences.
Feeling the presence of several elements inside her, Ye Ning looked surprised, yet excited,
as she began to draw each elemental spiritual energy into herself, one by one.
Each one ignited a strong spark within her dantian, a spark that began to grow more and more, and soon, several small cores could be seen starting to condense.
Zhu Rong: "..."
He wore a conflicted expression as he sensed the various presences within his own dantian, and the more he watched those elemental cores forming one after another, the more he felt like his heart was being stabbed with countless thorns.
’Haa... comparing myself to her really hurts,’ he thought in resignation, recalling old memories from when he had traveled with her in his past life.
Back then, he had already noticed this girl’s extraordinary talent for cultivation, not just in gathering Qi, but also in her ridiculously high affinity with almost all elements.
He remembered how he taught her the Elemental Extremes of the Dao technique of, thinking it would be perfect for her, and it was.
He just hadn’t expected her to master it so quickly, forming core after core like she was out picking cabbage... with inhuman ease.
If he didn’t already know her origins, he’d really start questioning why the heavens were so unfair.
He had decided to train the group of elves that had chosen to follow him, and before beginning with them, he started with his disciple.
He had already passed on the first part of the technique to her, and watching how smoothly she was executing it, a tear seemed to fall from his eye.
No one could tell if it was from joy at his disciple’s fast progress... or something else.
But he didn’t let those emotions take over, and instead focused his energy on sensing the formation of those cores, while saying:
"Good, keep going, and don’t rush. You’re not just forming them, you also need to stabilize them and create a link between all of them.
If you leave them as separate entities, they could clash with each other and trigger some rather unpleasant reactions in your core," he said, guiding her step by step through the process of core formation, stabilization, and eventual linking.
Time flew, and soon the next day had arrived.
It was 7 in the morning, but neither of them had left the cultivation room in the pavilion.
With the little wealth he had, Zhu Rong had reserved a high level cultivation room for her,
one where the spiritual energy density was extremely high.
Right now, he couldn’t take her to any natural spiritual energy sources, nor could he afford to have her cultivate slowly over time, as forming each core would take too long.
Since he had the means to speed things up to a certain extent, he rented the room for the whole day,
and now, the time was almost up.
There were still 20 minutes left when a loud boom suddenly echoed from inside the room, startling the staff outside, who looked at each other, wondering what to do.
"Probably someone inside just broke through.
It’s not the first time this has happened," said one of them, who had worked there for a long time and seen all sorts of situations.
He said the person still had time left, and unless they didn’t come out by the time limit, they wouldn’t intervene,
doing so earlier might interrupt the person inside,
especially if the person was stabilizing their newly advanced cultivation base, and disturbing them would only make things worse.
Everyone agreed and went back to work.
And just as the worker guessed, someone had indeed breakthrough inside the chamber.
Naturally, that someone was none other than Ye Ning, who had successfully stepped into the Body Tempering stage.
Ye Ning, having just advanced to the first stage,
felt the powerful Qi surging through her body, strong, but stable,
and a spark of joy lit up in her eyes as she turned to the side, looking for her master.
"Master, I-i did it, I finally ente-"
Though her joy was short lived as her eyes landed on a figure slumped upside down against the wall at the far end of the room, hair a mess, staring at her with a dark expression.
Seeing the state her master was in, she immediately realized what had happened.
She turned her head away, unwilling to meet Zhu Rong’s gaze.
Holding back laughter, the only thing she managed to say was:
"Oops, I forgot to warn you."
Zhu Rong: "..."
’ Oops my ass... why does it always end like this with her?’ he thought, remembering how things like this had happened constantly even in his past life.
Once, he had nearly died, while she broke through to the fifth stage of the Mortal Realm.
Back then, the force of her breakthrough was incredibly intense,
even more so because several of the elemental cores in her dantian had reached that level as well,
turning the overall impact of her breakthrough into something outright devastating.
He pulled himself together, shaking his head, and said:
"It’s time for me to go. Head to the workshop and start without me," he said, grabbing her bag that had been blown across the room.
"And one more thing, for now, don’t cultivate. Let your body adapt to your new strength. Only after that you should begin tempering your body.
I know you’re eager to grow stronger, but you’ve just gained a significant boost.
Trying to refine your body now will only end up hurting you," he said, shooting her a sharp look,
a look she quickly avoided, like a child caught red handed.
He sighed as he started to walk away.
"Remember, don’t open the shop before I get there.
I’ve got a feeling today’s going to be quite chaotic."
