Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Mission Accomplished (Please Favorite, Follow, and Vote for the Monthly Ticket)
Tori was a low-ranking member of the Crocodile Gang. In fact, he wasn’t an old-timer with the Crocodile Gang; his original gang had been annexed by them, and he had only joined the Crocodile Gang recently.
However, his former leader had secured a good position within the Crocodile Gang by surrendering promptly, which incidentally elevated Tori as well, sparing him from the need to engage in fights and killings outside. He was reassigned to work as a security guard for the Research Institute.
The job wasn’t highly respected, but it was leisurely and paid well.
Tori never actually wanted to join a gang, but having been born in Aston District, if he didn’t turn bad, his family would be bullied by bad people. Ending up with this leisurely job was quite in line with his wishes.
He stood at the entrance of the Research Institute, lost in idle thoughts.
Actually, his life was pretty good. Some people, like that elderly man who had just gone inside, were doing manual labor despite their heads being full of white hair.
He just hoped that when he got old, he could retire on time and have a pension.
His health wasn’t very good, and he couldn’t do manual labor.
While he was lost in his thoughts, he suddenly felt the ground beneath his feet begin to tremble.
"An earthquake?!"
Startled, he looked around and saw that while buildings were not moving, only the cement under his feet continued to tremble non-stop.
The once-solid ground bulged up into a small ’bump,’ and the smooth cement showed a web of fine, hairline cracks.
Then the ground sank rapidly, revealing a huge hole about four or five meters wide, from which the head of an enormous ’lizard’ emerged.
Tori watched this unexpected scene with surprise, momentarily unable to react.
And in that instant, the lizard turned its gaze towards him. A vivid red tongue shot out of its mouth like a sword, aiming straight to entangle him.
Simultaneously, a streak of silver light flashed by, meeting the red tongue in mid-air, pinning it into a nearby wall.
All of this happened too quickly, in the blink of an eye, too fast for Tori’s brain to even catch up.
Right then, he felt someone push him forcefully, an old voice exploding in his ear, "Run!"
Knocked off his feet, Tori finally reacted, scrambling and running towards the street. As he ran, he glanced back and saw an image of a man with silvery-white hair—a figure both aged and upright—stamped into his mind.
He Ao paid no attention to the security guard, his focus was entirely on the exotic beast. As he pushed the guard away, the beast’s enormous tongue had smashed the wall, freeing itself, and the silver short sword was violently flung away, flying towards the heavens.
He Ao leaped up, catching the short sword with one hand, then executed a mid-air somersault and landed on the beast’s back, plunging the sword straight into the wound he had made.
Then, using the momentum to slide down, he sliced open the entire hide of the exotic beast, exposing the dark red flesh beneath.
The beast let out a fierce roar, its tail flying up from behind and sweeping toward He Ao, having enough space to make the move now.
He Ao was hit by the tail and flung off of the beast’s back.
The red tongue shot out fiercely, attempting to ensnare He Ao, who was now mid-air.
At that moment, a shining laser flashed by, hitting the tongue in mid-air, causing it to stiffen momentarily.
He Ao seized the chance to land.
A blonde woman descended from the sky, landing next to He Ao. She looked up at him, "Elder statesman, Federal Bureau of Investigation, from now on this place is..."
"I’ll draw its attention, you provide long-range support,"
He Ao looked at her and leaped up again, charging towards the exotic beast.
"I..."
Selena spit out her unfinished words, frowning slightly as she watched He Ao once again entangle with the exotic beast.
But seeing He Ao fighting back and forth with the beast, she obediently pulled back, opening her palm, the muzzle aimed at the exotic beast.
This exotic beast should be upper-middle class in D-grade, stronger than Najia but weaker than Mu Xiu.
It was weakened by the substantial amount of blood He Ao had let while it was sleeping, and even though it had woken up, the effect of the sedative Najia had injected was clearly still present, causing its attacks to be obviously sluggish at times.
He Ao had never faced such a tough enemy with Selena before, but having worked together on missions and fought alongside each other against the God of Knowledge, he had developed a certain degree of tacit understanding and trust in her based on these experiences.
With the help of Super Memory, He Ao could clearly analyze Selena’s moves and choose the most appropriate time to act.
Thus, it did not take long for their combat coordination to rapidly enhance, becoming as familiar as if they had been comrades-in-arms for many years.
In this state, the exotic beast quickly fell into an absolute disadvantage.
Beaten and battered, it rushed toward the tunnel it had just come through, trying to escape.
He Ao charged in front of it, raised his sword, and looked towards Selena.
Although Selena’s mind was full of ’What is this old man thinking? What kind of tacit agreement is this?’ she quickly understood He Ao’s idea and stood behind the beast, vaulting into the air, her hands coming together aimed at its back.
Dazzling sparks of electricity danced around her body as she overclocked her energy core, unleashing a tremendous force.
The massive electromagnetic pulse even caused the surrounding electronic devices to malfunction temporarily.
A brilliant light burst from her palms in an instant, dimming the whole world as if even the sun was overshadowed by this radiance.
The intense light pierced through the body of the exotic beast in an instant, leaving behind a gaping hole.
The movements of the exotic beast stiffened on the spot.
Just how fierce is this girl? He Ao probably understood where the sense of danger he had felt from Selena in the wilderness cave had originated from.
He gripped the sword in his hand, soared into the air, and gathered the ’Qi’ inside his body into his palm before sending it through the blade. The sharp edge of the sword cleaved through the beast’s bones and severed its neck.
Cutting its body in half.
[Mission Completed]
As the huge head hit the ground, a system prompt appeared in He Ao’s field of vision.

Selena fell powerlessly from the sky, her body still sparking with electricity. Overclocking had not been without effect on her; she had temporarily lost control over her body.
Like a broken mechanical doll.
She felt a firm arm catch her, keeping her upright. After a while, some of her bodily functions returned, and she hurriedly turned her head to look behind her, "Old man, we need you to be a witness for this."
But her words hung in her throat as there was no longer anyone behind her; the only thing propping her up was an unfolded ladder.
