Chapter 767: Uncle Kate

Chapter 767: Chapter 767: Uncle Kate

"So, everyone from Galod is dead?"

The man with bronzed-gold short hair sat back in the plush leather chair, dressed in pure white formal attire, looking up at the man in black standing before him with his head bowed.

"Yes, by the time we arrived, there wasn’t a single survivor, everyone was shot in vital areas, killed with a single bullet. We found a body in an alley that appeared to be Mr. Galod’s. It seems he took a direct hit from a grenade explosion; when we found him, he was already blown into several pieces."

The man in black explained rapidly.

"The priest we sent is dead too? Not one living witness?"

The man in white formal attire asked with a slight frown.

"The place Mr. Galod chose was under his absolute control,"

The man in black paused, then slowly said, "The area was surrounded by his men. The priest was impaled on a steel rod, propped up off the ground. Everything had ended by the time we got there."

"Useless!"

The man in white formal attire sat up abruptly, slamming his palm down on the desk in front of him.

With a booming explosion, the seemingly solid hardwood desk suddenly burst apart, breaking into countless fragments that struck the surrounding walls and even the man in black.

Yet even so, the man in black just lowered his head, remaining silent.

"Who do you think did it?"

The man in white formal attire stood up and rubbed his temples, "Galod mentioned, that ’Yiluo,’ a vegetative child who fell into the Storm Sea?"

"At the scene..."

The man in black hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, "We found footprints that appeared to belong to a child, as well as tire tracks from an SUV and a taxi."

"You mean to say,"

The man in white formal attire glanced at him, "a twelve-year-old ’child’ who returned from the Storm Sea killed our priests who were bestowed with Divine powers, as well as Galod and all his men?"

"Galod speculated before the incident,"

The man in black looked up briefly at the man in white formal attire, then lowered his head again, "that this time it might be some special organization, misusing his ’little nephew’s name to cause trouble, given the abundance of voice-changing software available now, you can’t be sure it’s really them on the phone."

He continued in a low voice, adding, "This time, it was probably a fully-armed elite squad that arrived in an SUV and a taxi, attacking Galod’s men. After killing all the witnesses, they erased all traces and staged it to look like a child had passed through."

"For an elite squad, such a maneuver isn’t hard. They might want to pose as a ’ghost returning from the Storm Sea’ to hinder the Church’s plans."

"A ghost returning from the Storm Sea?"

The man in white formal attire scoffed, withdrawing his gaze to turn his head, looking through the crystal window beside him. The city outside was silent and still, under the falling snowflakes, the sky gradually darkened.

He spoke again, his tone cold, "No ghost can withstand the shine of the Eternal Radiance. I’ll give you one day to figure out all the loose ends no matter whether the ones behind this are real ’ghosts,’ I want them to see the cost of provoking me."

"Sir,"

The man in black nodded, then spoke softly, "If the people behind this really want to disrupt the plans of the Integrated Security Union, they might attack tonight’s banquet."

"Then let them come,"

The man in white formal attire continued to gaze outside, a fleeting golden glow flashing in his eyes, "It saves me the effort of drawing out these ignorant ’ghosts.’ The Eternal Radiance will cleanse their sins. I am quite eager to add some new ’collections,’ by the way,"

He turned his head and looked at the man in black, "Has my ’collection’ been shipped out?"

"It has already been sent to the main banquet hall,"

The man in black seemed to recall something, his voice tensing slightly as he continued, "We’ve prepared a special display for it, covered with a drape. You will certainly give those security companies a ’surprise’."

"Take it easy,"

The man in white formal attire turned around, walked to the man in black’s side, and gently patted his shoulder, "It’s just a small ’collection,’ a dead thing, not some terrifying monster. There’s no need to be so afraid."

Then he passed by the man in black, as if remembering something, he casually asked, "What time is it?"

"Almost six o’clock, sir,"

The man in black glanced at his wristband and replied softly, "According to tradition, the heads of the security companies should arrive around six-thirty, and we’ll start the banquet promptly at seven. The kitchen side is nearly ready."

"Very well, very well,"

The man in white formal attire nodded, smiling, "I can’t wait to show them my ’collection.’ It’s a shame there’s only one. If my old friend could also be made into a ’collection,’ that would be perfect. These collections of mine—they could last centuries, perhaps even longer than my own existence."

The man in black kept his head down, silent.

----

Five fifty-five in the afternoon.

He Ao glanced at the time on his wristband, then turned his head to look at the tightly closed gates ahead, set amongst the trees.

This is Nokate Street number 12, the venue for the ’banquet’ hosted by the Kate Organization’s Security Union as mentioned by Galod.

Nokate Street is also located in the Cloud District, only not at the very top, but near the location of Novite District. Here, there is a row of somewhat old small villas nestled among a row of scenic trees.

Nokate number 12 is one of them.

He Ao lifted his head and briefly scanned his surroundings, ensuring there were no cameras nearby. Then he directed Eve to drive the SUV towards the gates of number 12, Nokate.

He wasn’t worried about Galod deceiving him.

Firstly, in order to attract his attention at that time, Galod was likely telling the truth to appear credible.

Secondly, in his second vision, the area around the villa was filled with a great amount of distorted patterns, which meant the villa might be brimming with Transcendent powers and hiding some secret.

Combining the two, it was very likely that this villa was the venue for Kate’s ’banquet’.

As for whether it was the actual venue, that was something he would find out simply by trying.

At the entrance of the villa were two guardhouses; several men in security uniforms stood at the gates. Seeing He Ao’s SUV approaching, one of them quickly came forward to stop it.

"Hello, please present your invitation," said the security officer, tapping on the driver’s window.

He Ao lowered the window and looked at the security officer, "Have your leader come see me."

The security officer was about to say something when he felt an icy gaze sweeping over his soul, causing him to shiver uncontrollably.

He watched He Ao’s youthful face, paused for a moment, and then whispered, "Please wait a moment."

Then, he turned back and spoke to someone in the crowd who looked like the head of the security team. After a while, the security captain came over.

He looked at He Ao sitting in the driver’s seat, his gaze lingered briefly, and then he quickly said,

"Hello, if you wish to enter, you need to show an invitation. Also, we need to check your vehicle to ensure you’re not carrying any dangerous weapons. As a principle, our invitations are only for adults..."

He hadn’t finished speaking, because as he talked, He Ao took out a pendant that emitted a pale golden glow from his chest.

"You are..."

His pupils contracted, he leaned over the car window, and asked with a tremble.

"Is Kate hosting a banquet inside tonight?"

He Ao’s face was expressionless, as if he hadn’t heard what the man had just said, and he asked calmly.

The security captain paused, then after a brief hesitation, he nodded carefully, "Yes..."

"You can report my arrival, but do not ask anything else," He Ao said, tucking away the pendant and leaning back in his seat, eyes fixed on the gate opposite him.

"Yes, of course," the security captain straightened up, wiping the sweat from his brow, and looked up at his companions at the gate, "Open the gate! Open the gate!"

The security personnel at the gate immediately pressed a switch, and the tightly closed gate slowly opened.

"Do you have..."

The security captain turned his head back to look at He Ao.

"Praise the Eternal Radiance," He Ao said serenely.

Without the pendant sponsored by the Eternal Secret Teachings, it would have been a bit troublesome for him to enter directly.

"Praise the Eternal Radiance," the security captain promptly replied.

Then he watched the SUV’s window slide up, the vehicle start, and drive into the villa.

"Boss, who was that?" The first security officer who had stopped the SUV ran over, asking curiously.

"Don’t ask what you shouldn’t," the security captain spat out, then continued in a low voice, "That was a ’Priest.’

"Such a young Priest?"

The young security officer found it hard to believe, but then he recalled that chilling gaze, involuntarily shuddered, and asked, "So we just let him in like that?"

"What else do you want?"

The head of the security sneered, "That’s not someone we can stop. For the Priest, killing you or me is like killing a dog. We’ll just report it directly and let the higher-ups handle it."

"Yes, yes."

The young security staff member nodded repeatedly.

"Do your job well,"

the head of the security patted the young team member on the shoulder, "After we go back tonight, we’ll head to the Storm Zone tomorrow to collect ’offerings’; the extra is all ours."

At this, the young security team member’s eyes lit up, "Boss, I saw a girl a couple of days ago on Linhai Street..."

"Is she a believer?"

the head of the security asked.

"No," the young staff member replied immediately, a strange smile on his lips, "She’s not a believer."

"These dirty unbelievers deserve to pay for their arrogance,"

the head of the security said, patting his subordinate’s shoulder, "We need to teach them a lesson. Now, go back to your post."

"Yes!"

The young staff member immediately grew excited and returned to his guard post.

The head of the security glanced around, touched the gun at his waist, activated his wristband, and also returned to his guard post.

...

After entering through the gate, there was a spacious ’courtyard’; to the left and front of the courtyard was the entrance to the deep underground parking lot.

He Ao, with the Knight’s sword and Harpoon on his back, got out of the car, instructed Eve to drive into the underground parking, and then looked up at the view in front of him.

The courtyard was quite opulent, with a wide lawn, a semi-transparent greenhouse, and inside the greenhouse bloomed a variety of competitive and vibrant flowers.

Behind this greenhouse and the greenery stood a towering villa.

The villa loomed under the snow curtain, like a cold fortress, quietly watching everything outside the stronghold.

He Ao took out the pendant and hung it in front of his chest, followed the path of the courtyard forward, walked past those greenhouses, and soon arrived at the doorway of the villa.

At this moment, some staff members clad in black were busying themselves at the villa’s entrance.

Most of them were burly and ferocious, looking more like gang members than servants of the villa.

One of them, who seemed to be a team leader standing by the main door, noticed He Ao. He looked at He Ao with confusion and impatience, "That one over there..."

"Where’s the banquet hall?"

He Ao asked calmly, after giving him a brief glance.

The team leader’s body trembled, his eyes uncertain as they rested on He Ao; then seeing the pendant on He Ao’s chest, he immediately said respectfully, "Priest, please walk straight ahead to the end, you will see an elevator. Take the elevator to the third floor, right across from the elevator is the banquet hall for this event."

"Alright, thank you."

He Ao nodded and walked straight into the villa.

The black-clothed staff along the way, upon seeing him, all immediately stepped aside, forming a walkway for him surrounded by a human wall.

This scene reminded He Ao of his last time in a Copy World, in Kaye City, walking the streets in the guise of Vian.

But unlike Vian, the residents of Kaye City looked at ’Vian’ with ’reverence’; they were even willing to come out and take photos with Vian.

Those here who saw him, or rather, saw the pendant on his chest, only had fear in their eyes.

And beneath that fear was an even deeper cruelty.

He Ao could see a faint ruthlessness on the faces of these seemingly submissive people; they had all killed before, and not just once.

They were as scared of being killed as they were of killing.

Soon, He Ao arrived in front of the elevator, pressed the button to light it, and stepped inside.

And the moment the elevator doors closed, the people around him sighed in relief, with most instinctively touching the firearms at their waists, gripping the handles, and then continued with their tasks.

...

Villa’s fourth floor

"A young Priest with the Divine Pendant entered the villa?"

The man in white formalwear stood in the reception room, looking at the information on his wristband, his face filled with bewilderment.

He turned his head and looked at the man in the white robe behind him, with his pendant hanging, his brown-grey hair, and his eyes tightly shut, "Does our Church have any underage priests?"

The man with the brown-grey hair in the white robe opened his eyes as if deep in thought, then he shook his head, "Only the great Holy See knows the names of all the priests, and among those we have come into contact with, there isn’t such a person."

He paused for a moment before continuing, "However, since he is able to wield the Divine Pendant, he must have received the favor of the Eternal Radiance. Perhaps he comes from another parish, or maybe from a different city, the blessings of the Eternal Radiance are not confined to the ground beneath our feet."

"He is the beginning of all things, and also the end of all things, the eternal glow forever shines upon the lands of the Kingdom of God and mankind."

"Don’t give me those scriptures, I only know this guy crossed the line, he shouldn’t have come onto my turf,"

The man in the white suit massaged his temples, glanced at the man in black standing on the other side, "Where is that ’little priest’ now?"

"He seems to have gone to the banquet hall."

The man in black took a glance at his bracelet.

"The banquet hall?"

The man in the white suit was startled, "What does he want to do?"

Then he swept a glance at the man with the brown-grey hair in the white robe, "I’m going down to the banquet hall to take a look, do you want to come along? Meet some other people bathed in the light of the Eternal Radiance?"

"Of course,"

The man with the brown-grey hair in the white robe slowly rose, dusting off his robe, "I’d be delighted."

······

Third floor of the villa

The people at the door didn’t lie to He Ao; right in front of the elevator on the third floor was the entrance to the banquet hall.

To be precise, the entire third floor was one massive banquet hall.

At this moment, the doors of the banquet hall were open, with long tables arranged neatly inside.

There was nobody in the banquet hall, but napkins, wine glasses, and plates had already been set up.

Bright light shone on these utensils, making the whole banquet hall look delicate and elegant.

And at the deepest part of the banquet hall, there stood a small square podium, with steps leading up to the very top, where there seemed to be a square cabinet covered with a red curtain tasseled with golden fringe.

A thought struck He Ao.

He walked slowly through the banquet hall to the ’display stand’ at its deepest point.

Step by step, he ascended the stairs in front of the podium, his movements slow and heavy, as if each step was on the pulse of a beating heart.

Soon, he had reached the top of the podium.

The cabinet stood intact before him.

It wasn’t very large, just slightly wider than his shoulders, not big enough to fit three people.

He hesitated for a moment, then extended his hand and slowly lifted the curtain covering the cabinet.

It was a closed transparent cabinet, and behind its clear glass, an angry face appeared within He Ao’s sight.

It was a handsome young man in his twenties, with fine, short hair. His eyes were wide open, staring ahead with resentment and determination.

He Ao calmly gazed at this face as intense gunfire seemed to echo around him, as if returning to that night when the young man had closed the door of the off-road vehicle and resolutely walked towards the pursuers behind him.

At this moment, the body of the youth, who existed only in memory, stood before He Ao.

His life had long since passed, even his soul had dissipated, but he had not been laid to rest.

His body had undergone extensive modification, turned into a specimen and fixed inside this transparent cabinet.

It became an ’exhibit’, a ’collection’ displayed to others.

He Ao placed his hand on the transparent cabinet, the warmth of his fingers carrying moist vapor, blurring the surface of the cabinet.

Cold footsteps resounded from behind.

"Although I had my suspicions, I truly did not expect to find you here when I came."

The cold, hoarse voice of a man sounded behind him.

He Ao did not immediately turn around. Instead, he gently swung the cloth in his hand, draping it over the transparent cabinet once again.

My brother hasn’t found a girlfriend yet, he’s the vainest.

Then he turned around, raised his right hand, and grasped the hilt of the knight’s sword behind him tightly,

"Long time no see, Uncle Kate."
