The Ice Wolf Gang headquarters was a building over twenty stories high, and the boss of the Ice Wolf Gang lived on the rooftop. The penthouse just below had been converted by the gang leader into a luxurious rooftop villa.

Given Eve’s cover, He Ao walked right in during a shift change at the guard post, entered the building, and headed straight for the elevator that led to the top floor.

He encountered no obstacles on his way up, and it seemed that the gang members were unaware of the unexpected visitor’s arrival.

When the elevator opened, a lavishly decorated door greeted He Ao.

Two tall gang members were stationed in front of it.

Upon seeing He Ao drenched in blood, they hesitated for a moment, then quickly realized he was the man the gang had been searching for these past few days.

They quickly drew their guns to aim, but they were a step too slow.

Before they could pull the triggers, a red glow pierced through their throats in an instant.

Bright red blood was absorbed into the crimson blades.

As they absorbed more divine power, the swords began to draw life force as well.

Because He Ao resisted the corruption and wasn’t transformed into a Monster by the deceased divine being to extend its power, the life force drawn by the swords did not transfer to the deceased divine being but remained within the blades instead.

These swords, forged from ordinary materials, began to exhibit miraculous properties as they were imbued with transcendental power.

At the very least, their durability was not inferior to some of the newest material alloys.

He Ao stood in front of the magnificent door, the sound of the falling corpses behind him.

He gently pressed the doorbell.

Ding-dong—

The clear sound of the doorbell reverberated inside the house.

Click—

With no response or inquiry, the door opened on its own accord.

He Ao pushed the door open, and there was no one behind it.

Someone had remotely controlled the opening of this door.

The boss of the Ice Wolf Gang’s villa had its own control center, independent of the control range of the underground control room.

He Ao walked in through the door.

The lights were off on the first floor, seemingly deserted.

Moving up the staircase, he found the second floor in complete darkness as well.

Continuing upward, the third floor led to the rooftop.

A slight chill wind brushed He Ao’s cheeks as he stepped out of the stairwell, greeted by lush green foliage.

Exotic flowers and plants were vying for beauty.

In the midst of the grey and white Steel Jungle, this touch of green was especially eye-catching.

Particularly now, when the streets of Rock City were covered with a thin layer of ice, seeing greenery was even more precious.

During this season, ornamental plants that maintained their verdancy and grew wantonly were specially cultivated, expensive, and mutated.

It seemed the boss of the Ice Wolf Gang had transformed this place into a delightful rooftop garden.

However, this out-of-season beauty did nothing to ease He Ao’s mind.

In the chip given by Elder Sister, there were not only videos of the massacre of miners in the mining fields but also of the Ice Wolf Gang leader’s son torturing the captured miners and their families.

There were quite a few such videos. The son seemed to enjoy making these ’works of art,’ documenting his ’pleasure.’

And after the murder, the killer liked to bury the bodies under a garden, nourishing his beloved flowers with the blood of the deceased.

Previously, He Ao didn’t know where such a garden could be found in Rock City, but now he did.

Following the slightly moist stone path, He Ao walked towards the depths of the garden.

In its deepest part, faint, rhythmic sounds could be heard.

Soon, He Ao arrived at the source of the sounds.

There was a huge electronic screen, on which a cartoon man wearing glasses, looking solemn and rigid, was jumping over a cartoon barrier.

It seemed to be a cartoon-style game with elements of puzzle-solving, which played cheering, dynamic sound effects whenever the game character solved a puzzle.

But He Ao could clearly see that the game was originally designed for two people to play together.

It belonged to that type of two-player game that one could play alone, but it was more fun with two people.

By its style, it seemed to be a parent-child game, too.

Beneath this huge electronic screen sat a casually dressed middle-aged man with gray at his temples, looking somewhat refined as he manipulated the game controller, guiding the game character through the levels.

When He Ao approached the bench, the game character was standing on the final reward platform, and the screen began to display fireworks effects and cheering sounds for passing the level.

"Sometimes I think, how great it would be if you were my child."

The middle-aged man put down the controller, and the giant electronic screen above him slowly rolled up, revealing the scene behind the screen.

A high bar fixed in mid-air had a blurred figure hanging from it, with tattered, once-elegant clothes wrapped around wounds that seemed to have been lacerated by whips; hardly an inch of the body was intact, even the face was unrecognizable.

He was breathing his last, always on the verge of death.

He Ao could barely recognize, through his stature, that this was the person whom Five Sisters once fancied—the son of the leader of the Ice Wolf Gang.

Of course, his initial identity given to Five Sisters was that of the son of a Mining Consortium shareholder.

The gang leader of the Ice Wolf Gang was indeed a shareholder in the Mining Consortium, which was not a contradiction.

The middle-aged man glanced only briefly at the blurred figure before turning to look at He Ao with a smile, "Very few people manage to escape my capture, and you’re one of the rare few. You’re so young, about the same age as my child."

"Consider it,"

The man slowly stood up and looked at He Ao with a smile, "You don’t have a father, and I’m about to lose my child. You could be my son, you’re so exceptional, you should have a bigger platform to develop. After I die, this building, these people, the foundation I’ve built, all could be yours."

"Sorry."

He Ao declined this strange offer; he had no interest in being anyone’s son, let alone this man whose own flesh and blood was hanging mutilated right there.

This middle-aged man in front of him was Vinc, the gang leader of the Ice Wolf Gang.

"Your parents are capable, you and your sister who lurked around my foolish son, both impress me,"

Vinc looked at He Ao, "I’ve seen too many people with experiences like yours. They either impulsively become a corpse or fade into obscurity. Only your sister settled down, spent two years getting close to this trash, and earned his trust.

Such execution, such willpower, and wisdom, are all admirable. Compared to her, this pitiful excuse of a creature is truly worthless."

Vinc walked up to the mangled figure, patting the cheek of the life that was barely holding on.

The figure vaguely regained consciousness, blurry awareness falling on the person before him, "Dad..."

Crack—

His entire neck was violently twisted, ending all his suffering.

"She truly was outstanding, like the toughest, most persistent flower in the garden," Vinc withdrew his bloodstained hand, turned back with a look of regret, and sighed, "That’s why when I killed her, I felt a twinge of reluctance."

He Ao tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword.
