"You damned hunk of metal, how are you so strong."

Kyle struggled to get up from the ground.

In order to prevent the escape of powerful Transcendent prisoners, the Federal Bureau of Investigation only provided the bare minimum food necessary for survival during incarceration, to avoid prisoners regaining the strength needed for an escape attempt.

Kyle himself had been imprisoned for a long time, and was only given just enough food to keep him alive each day.

Even though he consciously hid his strength, after such a long period of weakening, he wasn’t truly that strong anymore.

He appeared rather like a ferocious tiger that had lost its teeth.

His recent jailbreak had actually exhausted most of his strength.

His strength could only burst forth momentarily, and the longer he dragged out the time, the weaker his body became.

Therefore, he needed to fight quickly and decisively.

He glanced at the Longsword in He Ao’s hand and sidestepped with a flash; his figure disappeared like a specter, striking towards He Ao from his own right.

This was also a technique for combat against Mechas – many Mechas had sensors all around, but the primary visuals for the operator are the front and rear views, while the side views are generally placed in a secondary position.

Therefore, the visibility from the side received less attention.

In high-intensity combat, if the enemy was very agile and rushed from the side quickly, although the Mecha itself would alert the pilot, if the operator did not respond quickly enough, they could easily be destroyed with a single strike.

But clearly, He Ao was not that kind of operator.

He stepped to the side while retreating and thrust his sword out.

The sword grazed Kyle’s cheek, leaving a trail of blood on his weathered face.

Kyle’s hands stalled for a moment, looking at the alloy part in He Ao’s hand with some shock, and swallowed.

"Vian, you said you wouldn’t kill me."

"That was the agreement," He Ao looked at him calmly, "but Mr. Kyle, you did not honor it."

In the instant He Ao spoke, Kyle abruptly lashed out, reaching straight for the center of He Ao’s chest.

He had realized that the energy source might be there, and destroying the energy source would render the hunk of metal powerless.

He Ao looked through the Mecha’s viewports, calmly watching Kyle’s movements.

He sidestepped once more, the silvery light of the blade retracted, then spun, and the cold steel penetrated the heated flesh.

Blood, bright red, burst forth like splendid blossoms in the rainy night.

Like roses dyed with the essence of life.

"I..."

Kyle’s mouth gaped open, staring at the Longsword that had accurately pierced his heart, the taste of iron filling his throat, silencing all his words.

He Ao slowly pulled out the Longsword.

The silver Longsword shattered in an instant, melding into the silvery-grey Mecha.

He walked forward quietly under the curtain of rain,

The bulky Mecha slowly faded away, reverting back to a silver-grey briefcase.

He approached the corner and picked up the black long-handled umbrella leaning against the wall.

Bang—

The umbrella opened up, its broad canopy separating the outside world from the one beneath it.

He Ao lowered his head to look behind the corner.

Here was a clean eave, and beneath it, a pair of wet footprints.

Someone had stayed here for a while, watching He Ao and Kyle’s fight from a distance.

He Ao was aware of this person’s presence, but he did not attack them.

This wasn’t the best location for their fight.

He Ao lifted his head, gazing at the city glittering before him, where the once-shining neon lights had become blurred and dreamy beneath the bursting rain, like a mirage on the horizon.

The light on his wristband suddenly turned on, a message from the old butler had arrived.

The message was straightforward: two B-level exotic beasts had suddenly appeared around the walls of Kaye City, the Captain and Chief of Staff of the City Defense Army went to confront the beasts, and the army was now in a state of emergency alert.

He Ao did not reply but quietly turned off the wristband.

The City Defense Army was tied up.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the police force in Kaye City were not strong enough.

This meant that the most powerful force capable of rapid mobilization and extinguishing the power of the Evil God was being delayed.

At this moment, all the clues in He Ao’s mind connected into a single root thread.

It was a trap.

He knew it.

The Nord Consortium, the Church of the God of Chaos, many people in Kaye City, all wanted him dead.

He knew it.

But he also knew that his time was running out.

Once ’Vian’ died,

Who would be able to suppress these people?

The old butler had experience and ability, but he was getting old, Lina was young, but she still needed to grow.

The presence of Christos would create an excellent development environment for Kaye City.

But even with such a favorable environment, there were still obstacles, both internal and external, of all kinds.

If He Ao left, no one else could suppress these rebellious forces.

Everything he had left behind would go to waste with his departure.

With the man gone, his policies would end.

He Ao’s time was too short.

Therefore, he had no choice but to use some simple but violent methods to resolve these obstacles.

This was a trap set for him, but also a stage for him to ’borrow’ a knife.

The silhouette of a young man moved through the rain.

Suddenly, the sound of a megaphone hawking goods came from ahead.

It was a stall under a huge rain awning, the blurred rain mixed with flickering lights, illuminating the somewhat gloomy cheeks of the stall owner.

"What would you like, sir?"

Seeing someone approaching, the stall owner hurriedly greeted him with a smile.

He Ao’s gaze swept over the stall and finally rested on a black and white mask in the center of the stall.

That was ’K’s mask.

"I’m sorry, sir, this item is my personal possession."

Noticing He Ao’s attention on the mask, the owner quickly reached out to put the mask away.

"There’s no need."

He Ao shook his head gently, laid down a hundred federal coin bill, picked up the mask, and disappeared into the rain.

The stall owner stared blankly at the hundred-dollar bill, reaching up to touch his own face.

This was the biggest single sale he had made since he lost his job for supporting K’s rally.

Looking at the bill in his hand, he eventually shook his head, casually grabbed an umbrella, and dashed out, "Sir, you’ve given too much."

However, as he rushed into the rain,

the shadow of the man with the black umbrella had vanished into the dark night.

——

He Ao looked at the mask in his hand.

He slowly put it on his face.

The cold wind of the lonely night stirred the heavy rain.

A few drops of rain fell on the purely white part of the smiling mask, then, carried by the night breeze, they crossed the black and white boundary and flowed into the pitch-black domain.

He Ao was standing under a bright streetlamp at this moment.

The pure white light from the streetlamp shone on part of his mask, revealing a pure and holy radiance.

He Ao looked up at the streetlamp, turned around, and walked in another direction.

The pure white glow disappeared in an instant, leaving only the silent darkness.

The young man with the mask slowly walked into the curtain of rain.
