Click—Accompanied by a roaring sound, a huge gray-black iron cage fell from the sky.
One after another, small transportation robots swiftly rushed forward, lifting the entire iron cage.
And as the cage was lifted, the scenery within was also reflected under the light.
A simple ink-black steel-framed bed, welded deep inside the iron cage, next to it a pitch-black iron chair welded to the bed frame.
Sitting on the iron chair was an elderly man dressed in a deep yellow prison uniform.
His hair was graying, and his strong body was slightly stooped.
A set of silver and black Restraining Back Armor encased his body, emitting faint blue arcs under the cover of night; a special phenomenon when the magnetic restraint device was activated.
The powerful Restraining Back Armor firmly fixed the elderly man to the iron seat, unable to move in the slightest.
One by one, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents dressed in auxiliary armored combat uniforms leaped out of the spaceship and landed on the ground.
They held portable laser guns, following the smart robots to escort the iron cage and the elderly man deep into the airport.
······
All personnel who had encountered C-level or higher exotic beasts in the wilderness had to be observed in a special observation room at the airport upon entering Fortress City, to prevent them from being parasitized by some kind of terrifying monster.
The escort squad had encountered near B-level exotic beasts in the wilderness, and although they narrowly escaped death, being placed under individual observation when entering the city was also necessary.
However, they had a way to avoid observation, which was to not enter Kaye City and immediately depart after completing their mission.
In fact, they were supposed to leave immediately after transferring the prisoners.
He Ao stood in some backstage control room at the airport, watching agents from the escort squad transfer the iron cage imprisoning the elderly man to the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents from Kaye City clad in professional protective armor.
After completing a series of authorization handovers, the agents from the escort squad departed, and the dark spaceship once again disappeared into the sky.
The Kaye City Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, on the other hand, escorted the iron cage into the special observation room.
Throughout the process, the elderly man behaved exceptionally calm and indifferent, as if it was not him but the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents outside being escorted.
He Ao calmly observed every move of these agents and the elderly man through the surveillance.
It wasn’t until the iron cage fully entered the observation room and the armor restraining the elderly man had its magnetic device deactivated that the armored man regained his freedom.
It was then that He Ao softly pressed the communication button on the tabletop, connecting with the observation room’s communication system.
"Good evening, Mr. Kyle, I’m Vian,"
a soft greeting came from his mouth.
At the same time, his voice, clear and precise, reached the ears of the elderly man in the cage through the loudspeaker.
At first, when the elderly man heard He Ao’s greeting, his expression was exceedingly calm, but when he heard He Ao’s self-introduction, there was a subtle change in his demeanor.
However, his expression quickly became cold again, "Mr. Vian, do you need something?"
But this slight change in expression did not escape He Ao’s sharp observation, and he chuckled.
"Mr. Kyle, you’re afraid."
"Oh?"
The elderly man rose to his feet, went to his bed, and started tidying the bedding that had been disturbed by the recent transportation.
His expression was serene, apparently not the least bit concerned with He Ao’s words.
"I had thought that a murderer who had killed countless people wouldn’t be afraid, that he would regard his own life as indifferently as he did others’,"
He Ao sat in the chair, his tone tinged with sarcasm, "I didn’t expect the only life you disregard is that of others."
The Elderly man seemed not to have heard He Ao’s words, as he continued slowly and carefully to straighten out his bedding.
"When you were pursued by Mercenaries and Murderers, all you thought about was fleeing, even going to the extent of surrendering yourself to the Federal Bureau of Investigation."
He Ao sat in the chair, hands on the chair’s armrests, his fingers gripping tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hand, yet his face appeared eerily calm.
He began to speak slowly, "You were afraid, terrified of death, to the point that upon knowing you were to be transferred to the prison in Kaye City, you even risked attracting a powerful exotic beast just to break out of jail."
The old butler stood silently behind, watching his young master.
This youth, who was usually quiet and calculating, even somewhat indifferent, now seemed somewhat talkative.
In the iron cage, the movements of the Elderly man’s hands paused briefly, then he continued straightening his bedding without responding to He Ao.
"You know, there are many ways to commit suicide in prison," He Ao said calmly and deeply, "Hanging oneself in a cell with no rafters, committing suicide by shooting oneself multiple times in the back, cutting off pieces of one’s own flesh to commit suicide..."
At these words, the Elderly man’s bed-making stopped for a moment, and he began to speak slowly, his voice hoarse, "What do you want?"
If He Ao really wanted to kill him, there was no need for so many words; a ’reasonable’ suicide in prison would suffice.
Hearing this, He Ao smiled, knowing he had breached the other’s psychological defenses.
Everyone has a weakness, and Kyle, the Murderer who had killed countless innocents, had a fear of death.
The other knew that He Ao had both the intention and the capability to kill him, which is why he had attempted to attract an exotic beast to attack the aircraft and escape while being transported to Kaye City.
But when this strategy failed and he arrived in Kaye City, he had given up all hope, thinking his death was certain.
However, from He Ao’s recent words, it seemed He Ao was giving him an opportunity.
Although he did not know what could make ’Vian’ put aside even the vengeance for his parents’ murder, he knew this was his chance.
"Who is Chaos? What is your relationship with him?"
He Ao leaned back in the chair, asking softly.
"Chaos..."
At the mention of the name, Kyle first paused, then slowly turned and sat on the now tidy bed, "That’s a memory from a long time ago."
Then he hesitated before saying softly, "I could tell you our relationship, but you must..."
"You have no right to negotiate terms with me," He Ao said calmly, cutting Kyle off. But quickly changing tack, "If your answer satisfies me, I can promise that as long as you serve your sentence in prison peacefully, you won’t ’commit suicide’ there."
"How can you guarantee that?"
Kyle asked.
"You can choose to believe, or not,"
He Ao shrugged his shoulders, then leaned back in the chair, silent.
An eerie silence descended on the observation room.
The silence lasted only a moment before Kyle began to speak slowly,
"Chaos was a child I found next to an old trash bin."
"That was about a decade ago when I was looking for ’Prey’ around Kaye City. Passing by a filthy trash bin, I found him, lying in the rotten waste, wounded and barely breathing."
"At the time, I happened to want a ’little hunting dog’ that could squeeze into various small spaces and wouldn’t raise suspicion, so I brought him home,"
"I saved him and began to train him to become a qualified tool."
