Avis Machinery Factory · Deputy General Manager’s Office

"So, Kili is dead?"

The man in the gray suit tilted his head, stretched his body, and it cracked and popped.

"Yes, including Mr. Kili, ten executives were killed in the office."

Gana wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said cautiously, "The board said they wanted to invite you back to secure the building."

"Ha, those old geezers who are afraid of death," Pena shrugged his shoulders, his gaze calmly fixed on Gana, "Who else is dead?"

"There’s Mr. Kili, Mr. Mike..."

Gana named them one by one.

"I got it," Pena patted Gana on the shoulder, "Go back and tell those old geezers not to worry, the next target is definitely me."

"But..."

Gana started to lift his head, then noticed Pena’s icy stare and he swallowed his words, nodding and bowing in haste, "I’ll go back and reply to the board right away, right away..."

Having said that, he scurried out of the office.

"Useless trash,"

Pena watched his figure, shrugged his shoulders again, then turned to his driver standing by, "Call everyone over. We’re stationing at the factory tonight. Unless that kid shows up, don’t leave the factory no matter what."

"Boss, you mean the one who did this is that..."

The driver was taken aback.

"He’s only killed people connected to the death of his parents, and out of those people, I’m the only one left alive," Pena sneered, leisurely sitting back in the office chair, "Have everyone stand by at their posts. He’s definitely coming to kill me next, but no one has ever managed to take me down within my army."

"Boss, should we shut down the factory? The workers are a mixed bunch and he might slip in with them."

The driver spoke quietly.

"No need," Pena was quite patient with this subordinate who had been with him for a long time, "He hasn’t killed any innocents, nor used area-of-effect weapons in his attacks, which proves he still has a conscience. So, the tens of thousands of workers in the factory are our hostages. Why let them go? Alright, go handle it."

"Yes."

The driver responded and left the office.

Pena sank into his plush boss chair, his head lowered as he picked up a handgun from the desk, removed the magazine, and began to pop out the bullets one by one, which clinked crisply on the desk.

——

[Half an hour later]

He Ao glanced at the message from Christos on his wristband and put it down.

He took a test tube filled with black and purple liquid from his waist and downed its contents in one gulp.

This was Corpse Flower solution.

He had obtained eleven from the Hyena Gang and twenty-two from Slanca, for a total of thirty-three Corpse Flowers.

Three had been used up previously, leaving thirty remaining.

Out of those thirty Corpse Flowers, twenty had been prepared as solutions and were kept in twenty Mithril Test Tubes.

Of those tubes, ten were his original stock, including those he’d found from Slanca, and the remaining ten were ’borrowed’ from Roger—he had almost cleaned out Roger’s available test tubes.

The last ten Corpse Flowers were ground into powder and stored in a small box with ice cubes.

At this moment, those twenty test tubes and the small box were all fastened to his waist.

After finishing and putting the empty test tube back at his waist, He Ao activated his Stealth and strolled past the mercenary standing guard in front of the factory, swiped a card, and entered the factory.

Since He Ao had not actually been exposed the previous night, the factory was not aware of how he had entered, and this oversight had not been rectified.

After He Ao entered, the mercenary just glanced up as the turnstile suddenly activated and then, scratching his head, turned his attention back.

Having been there once before, He Ao was now familiar with the route.

He quickly arrived at the factory’s administrative building.

However, just as he was about to enter the administrative building, he paused, lifted his foot high, and stepped over the tripwires laid in front of the administrative building’s door that were much thinner than a strand of hair.

Landmines at the front door.

Quite the attention to detail.

With the help of Onlooker’s ability, He Ao easily detected these subtle traps.

After entering through the door, he faced a long corridor with an infrared barrier at the front and micro laser guns embedded in the walls on both sides.

If the barrier is tripped, the guns would activate instantly, cutting the person into burnt chunks.

’Stealth’ could only conceal his life signs, not hide him from machinery.

The trigger for this mechanism was ingeniously hidden; if He Ao didn’t currently have ’Onlooker’ and without activating Super Memory, it was highly likely he would not have detected it.

But since he had found it,

He Ao took a laser grenade from his combat suit, pulled the pin, and threw it into the passage.

Instantly, he dashed to the side.

The brilliant flash destroyed all the metal devices.

The loud explosion also drew the attention of the stationed soldiers nearby.

Shortly after the explosion subsided, a squad of well-equipped mercenaries rushed into the passage, guns at the ready, searching meticulously.

They slowly moved through the passage and didn’t find any unexpected individuals.

The leader of the squad, a tall man, gestured for his team to halt and spread out to inspect the area, then continued inside. When he arrived at the elevator and confirmed it had not been used and there was no one inside, he grabbed the radio attached to his chest,

"Boss, it seems like that guy has come in, but I haven’t spotted him."

There was a pause on the radio, followed by a soft voice, "He should be behind you right now."

The tall man startled, and in an instant, he drew the dagger from his waist and stabbed backwards.

But the shadow behind him moved faster. As his dagger thrust forward, the sharp tip of a sword had already pierced his throat.

He Ao pulled the short sword from the man’s throat, and at that moment, the man’s finger was still pressing the talk button on the radio. He Ao leaned in, whispering into the radio,

"Hold on a moment."

The man’s tall frame collapsed to the ground, emitting a muffled thud.

He Ao walked past, reaching the elevator doors, then pressed the button with his blood-splattered fingertips to light up the elevator.

The elevator ascended, coming to a stop on the sixth floor.

On the first floor was the office layout for the entire administration building, with the General Manager’s and Deputy General Manager’s offices both located on the sixth floor.

He Ao stepped out of the elevator, stopping in front of the second-to-last office on the left.

The door of this office wasn’t closed, and there wasn’t a soul inside.

Only a few golden bullets quietly lay on the desk.

The moment he saw this, He Ao’s body suddenly rolled forward, ducking behind a wall.

Gunfire erupted behind him, as countless bullets poured down like a torrential rain.

The violent bullets smashed the wall to pieces, showering bricks and stone everywhere, forcing He Ao to constantly shift his hiding spot.

While dodging, he pulled out a laser grenade, yanked the pin, and threw it behind him.

Boom—

As the massive explosion sounded, He Ao detonated his Super Memory and with one punch shattered the nearby wall, darting out through the broken hole.

The intense gunfire almost instantly resumed, with a man in a gray suit unleashing bullets wildly from the multi-barreled heavy machine gun he controlled in front of him.

Just as he was about to completely demolish the opposite office wall, he suddenly realized that there was no one and no bloodstains in the office.

Without any hesitation, he immediately turned the muzzle of the machine gun towards another wall beside him.

The bullets poured down like a torrential rain once more, shattering that wall as well.

However, behind that wall, there was still nothing.

"It’s over."

An ice-cold, hard object pressed against the back of his head.

The bullet penetrated his skull in a flash, his blood bursting open instantly.

Meanwhile, He Ao flashed to the window’s side.

This man was not Pena.

If a C-level was that easy to kill, he wouldn’t be C-level.

Clap—clap—clap—

Crisp applause came from the corridor, a man with gray suit and slightly curly hair, whose eyes gleamed with a touch of madness, emerged.

The recent battle was nothing but a ruse to buy time.

Meanwhile, dozens of fully-armed mercenaries burst out from behind him, some pulling out daggers to close in on He Ao, others taking up advantageous shooting positions, aiming their rifles at He Ao.

Their eyes were cold and sharp, like icy war machines.

He Ao looked up at Pena, whose soul was flickering with intense power, radiating onto the ’soldiers’ around him.

Under the influence of this power, the souls of these ’soldiers’ were all somewhat enhanced.

Talent Sequences 120: Noncommissioned Officer

At this moment, these soldiers almost completely blocked all of He Ao’s options for movement.

Super Memory calculated all possibilities in an instant, amidst countless simulations. The outcome He Ao arrived at was that breaking through the ’defense’ of these soldiers would definitely result in injury, the severity varying.

And in the certainty of being injured first, he was not confident in defeating Pena.

"Joey, I’ve prepared a gift for you,"

Pena did not make a move against He Ao right away. As his soldiers surrounded He Ao, he looked at He Ao with a smile, "If you’re willing to become my ’soldier,’ then everything you did today can be erased. I’ll take care of all your problems for you."

"Funny enough, I’ve also prepared a gift for you."

He Ao drew the short sword from behind him with his backhand, driving it through the chest of a ’soldier’ who had approached him with a dagger, "It’s a very pretty white chrysanthemum."

In Federation customs, white chrysanthemums are usually used to mourn the deceased at funerals.

And the moment He Ao’s words fell, the soldiers standing at a distance also pressed their fingers on their triggers...

In the blink of an eye, He Ao pulled out his short sword, and as the blood splatter obscured vision, he shattered the glass of the nearby window and leaped straight down from the sixth floor.

As soon as he jumped, a dense hail of bullets covered the area where he had just stood.

Pena rushed to the window, looking outside.

The moment his head poked out, a dark muzzle pointed right at his forehead.

He quickly withdrew and tilted his head, but it was a moment too late. He Ao depressed the gun muzzle, the bullet piercing through his collarbone, spraying blood wrapped in an orange glow.

Just a bit more and the bullet would have pierced through his neck.

And He Ao’s body, driven backward by the recoil of the shot, fell.

Mid-air, he spun, using the conservation of angular momentum, planting the short sword into the wall several times to reduce impact, and finally, after a roll, he landed safely and ran off into the distance.

"Chase him!"

Pena clutched his collarbone, orange and red blood spilling continuously. How could a regular handgun have such power?

"Be careful of his gun, it’s a Transcendent item."

At that moment, the soldiers had already dispersed into several squads and charged out.

----

The chase swiftly ensued, and as He Ao altered his shape, the squads became increasingly separated.

The farthest squad was about to catch up with He Ao.

Bang—

Just as they aimed their rifles at He Ao, the streetlight above them exploded with a loud bang.

At that moment, they suddenly realized.

They were far too distant from the other squads, so far that it was impossible for anyone to come over in a short time.

The silver short sword reflected a cold light under the clear moonlight.
